It is a book with sub-standard troop options which encourages you to move away from ObSec troop scoring and towards fast moving killing.

 

It does fast moving killing notably worse than White Scars, Wolves, Dark Angels, Daemons, Dark Eldar, Tyranids and especially Eldar.

What is so terrible about the fast moving killing potential of the codex, if I may ask?

Most of it comes in overcosted power armour bodies which GW hasnt been able to balance correctly in years.

 

Baals are the same price but lose Scout. The Dreads all got nerfed and cost the same. Assault Marines are a waste of a slot tbh as you may as well take Attack Bikes if you want mobile melta. Mephiston shouldn't ever get into combat against anyone sane. 

 

Dante and Sanguinary Guard are well buffed. I like them. I ordered 2 more boxes based on the codex rumours and am happy I did so. But I don't want to play Nipple Wing.

 

Everything is so underwhelming. You will only ever see this army used competitively in specialist detachments or formations from supplements.

Can't believe how long it's taken to catch up on today's posts!

 

Big big thanks pascalnz! And to everyone who asked the questions I was thinking. I would have been well happy with the cheaper SG and JP for DC alone but this is just amazing!

 

My running thoughts on an 1850 army are a furioso lib in pod with a meltacide ASM and a frying squad of tacs also in pods. Dante and 10-man SG with priest and libby to DS reserve. Another tac on the ground with either 2 grav bike squads or one of those and another melta ASM to DS reserve, and two vindicators. Still enough room for relics, legacies of glory etc.

 

I'm beginning to think actually, this has been worth the wait!

They are called Stormstrike missiles same as the Codex SM version, so no problem with WYSIWYG

 

Seth is possibly the worst special LoW character in the game.

 

10pts cheaper possibly? Cant remember, and I know Im not allowed to post his actual price. He's 10pts cheaper than a unit of Sanguinary Guard in the new book. There you go.

 

On a 6 to hit he scores another hit in combat. He has Rage and Furious Charge. 4W. Blood Reaver is the same. If he is warlord he has Rampage.

 

Waste of a slot. He brings nothing to the table as a unit choice. He's fluffy. Like a baby rabbit. Bless him.

Like a true son of Sanguinius (except in the case of Tycho because "feth you" - GW) I shall rise to the challenge and take him despite his lackadaisical rules.

 

 

Or maybe I'll kill him and shove him into a Furioso body and give him a giant ass chainsword instead of the Libby spear.

Like taking artificer armor or if taking a jump pack/bike unlocks them as troops?!

 

I'd like to second these questions. Additionally, I'd like to know about who can take grav? Grav guns on tacs, of course, and grav pistols on tac sergeants. What about grav pistols on assault sergeants? Grav pistols on rank and file assault marines? Do we get grav on bikers as well?

 

Can you confirm which vehicles get Fast and whether or not the ones who lost it can regain it as an upgrade? And if so, which and roughly how expensive an upgrade?

 

Honestly... what I'd like the most would be for you to review the massive spoiler post and let us know what (if anything) is inaccurate and correct it. Especially, I'm particularly curious about the Baal Arms Detachment. How many Elites do we get? There's been some debate.

Oh, yeah, also...

 

Sanguinary priests? Are they conventional one-to-a-slot HQs? Or can you get extra bodies, like we used to?

 

Command squads? What are they? Are they just a veteran squad, or do they get special dudes? A built-in "blood" champion like they used to? A baby priest, like they used to? Or are they merely confused and aren't actually a thing?

 

What is a "sanguinary sword" or "sanguinary axe?"

 

Techmarines. Do they still lack Independent Character?

For a serious answer, who can take Grav guns?  Can the Vanguard take specials like meltaguns, grav guns?

 

Well grav pistols and guns are the same as regular Codex

 

 

Outside Character choices the following can take them:

 

- Tacticals

- Command Squad

- Vanguard Vets

- Sternguard

- Bikers

 

 

Thats it.
