I wanna like the Xiphon, it's just not clicking for me.

 

The main advantage it has (for me) is that it has a Marine pilot. That little piece of fluff is the only reason I'm back and forth between the two

it actually looks like a jet fighter O u O and its a marine pilot !    I dont think its terrible honestly I just dunno if its that good.

Get the Xiphon, extend the wings slightly and call it a primaris lightning...

 

Can't the primaris ligtning be upgraded to have a marine pilot? Like Baneblades , StormLords which are legion vehicles can be upgraded to have space marine crews?

 

I enjoyed the latest battle report, Not many Ravens came out of that meat grinder, but I am happy you managed to pull a win.

 

Is it down to Rayray having so much on the board, or do yo play more tactically, that you manage to get the victory, as you looked to be struggling for bodies at the end there.

 

Btw, the armless Dread curb stomping a maulerfiend... All I can imagine is a lot of headbutting and kung-fu round house style kicking going on. Either that or some crazy WWE style move where he somehow ran up the side of a nearby building to the top rope and flung himself bodily onto the maulerfiend, pinning him for a 3 count then doing a victory dance on the beasts head :D

Xiphon's just aren't as great as they should be for their points cost :/

 

The missile launcher is a cool idea, but it's special rule only comes into play on a penetrating hit, which physically can't happen on anything AV14, plus it's only AP2 on things you *do* penetrate. Couple that with the fact you can't give it Tank Hunter and it ends up kinda unattractive compared to the Lightning. Doubly so when you don't have the option of Kraken penetrators.

 

Have you used Kraken penetrators before? They are glorius. The first time it comes on and smacks four straight through the front of a super heavy 250% more expensive than it is, you'll see the light :D

 

I dunno if I'd call missile launchers "threatening" AV14 ^_^

I mean, if you're playing a "Dogfight" game of 40k where its just "ALL FLYERS ALL DAY ALL THE TIME!!!!EXCLAMATIONPOINT!"

 

Then the Xiphon is probably the strongest thing dedicated Fighter out there.

 

Otherwise, sadly beaten by the Xiphon in terms of Power-To-Points ratio.

I've put alot of thought into this...money dont grow on trees and my hobby time is limited of late. I dont have the time or patience to go with something Im not comfortable with.

 

 

So I said screw the flyers and let's get a Spartan for my 30k Wolves.

My Wolf army is going to be a slow burner project, as I'm unsure of what their army list is going to look like.

 

That said, I don't think I can go wrong with a Spartan or two...

A Spartan is definitely a good investment for any army.

 

You should definitely get at least one. I plan to add more to my army at some point too.

So far my Wolf plans consist of:

-the Wolf Lord posted many pages ago

-2 Spartans

-1x10 strong pack of undetermined role. I'm afraid to build something that I'll have to later break up

1 Leviathan

 

Of course I wanna bulk up the infantry count, but until rules are released they are staying "small"

I struggle with that too...

 

I have built most of my squads as half strength, so I can add more marines with upgrade kits to bulk them out

 

I have also been concentrating n armour as that is the one thing which will not change too much between legions, but not collecting breachers and assault marines just now is so hard!!! I want to make my legion now.

after a recent conversation with Bladewolf in his thread, I realize my RG wouldnt stand much of a chance against his Templars...and that is not acceptable.

 

so the call for further development went out, and was answered.

half measures are for wimps. (which is ironic as im playing the Rout cautious right now)

Waddle their multi-ton butts. They may drop pod onto the enemy, because screw them.

and the RG are extremely limited in their HS slots, so I wanna make the best use of them

No grandpas here. I figure of the RG have anything right now, its wounded Marines.
