Marshal Mattias
Some really lovely work in here - your chaplain in particular is awesome, a great pose. I've run a powerfist chaplain more than once and your version is so cool I may have to make one! NoPityNoRemorseNoFear
closed fist redirects power to arm servos to swing faster but less hard turning it into a power maul, stick a crozius on the back of it and go. Thanks, that's a good idea. I have always loved the chaplain and it is so annoying that it has been nerfed in the new codex, I used to run him with these weapons and use him as my warlord. I guess I can always Magnetize an arm to make him more applicable. Some really lovely work in here - your chaplain in particular is awesome, a great pose. I've run a powerfist chaplain more than once and your version is so cool I may have to make one! thanks! I remember thinking about the pose for so long before I actually got the bits to make it. It turned out very well but it is a shame that I cannot use this setup any more in games. Ciler
I was wondering, are those power fists on the chaplain the devastator sergeant and BT upgrade ones ? If so, I'm surprised, I would expect them to look puny on a termie body, but they do not ! Brother Talon
In phases, echoing what Marshal Mattias says... Â Build up some lore to add character to newer models that are under way. Submit the lore with the models, as is a rather popular and heavily effective tactic. Â Batreps are not really my forte, but I am in the process of lining up what I'm dubbing as 'lore battles'. That way when my crusade starts posting, I hit hard and can keep on beating. NoPityNoRemorseNoFear
Hey guys,It's been a while since I have posted anything but I have been at home over summer and have done some more work on the crusade and played a few battles so I have a few things to tell you about and to show you!First-off I have already posted about this battle in another topic but most of you won't have seen it, so here it is! Game 1 Opponent: White Scars. My army consisted of: 2 full crusader squads with Plasma Gun + Grav cannon Grim with servitors in a Land Raider. StormTalon, EC + 10 sword bretheren, dreadnoughtIt was a really great game as even though It was a stand back and shoot game, he was on me in turn 2 so it ended up being fought with tooth and nail. I really enjoyed the way BT can now be played, counter attack + Zealot for 15+ guys makes even large bike squads think twice about charging. The BT did end up being a bit weaker as combat continued but they still had alot of staying power because of the FNP bonus aswell, this really helped as I could have been tabled after the Storm Raven did not come in until turn 3.  The Dreadnought was really handy at mopping up bikes at the end of the game, it's incredible how much 2 more attacks can help! The Game concluded with my warlord the EC killing Kor'sarro Khan in a challenge, which was a very fitting end.Game 2 Opponent: Necrons 2000pts.My Army Consisted of: Strike Force Command- High Marshal Helbrecht- 8 Honour Guard with Standard - drop pod a drop pod based Demi company - 3 10 man tac squads, 2 melta guns, 1 flamer & plasma pistol for all sergeants - venerable dreadnought with Multimelta - 5 man assault squad with jetpack & 2 flamers- 5 man dev squad, all with lascannons an Armoured taskforce-Techmarine- 2 predators with lascannon side sponsons - 1 Whirlwind My opponent ran A Decurion Detachment as we were both trying out the formation rules, his army roughly consisted of:-30 warriors-Ghost Arc-Monolith -2 annihilation barges -Canoptek harvest formation (wraiths, spiders & scarabs which now get reanimation)- 10 triarch praetorians with Zandreck- 5 immortals- Doomsday Arc -3 necron jetbikes It was decided that we should play purge the alien before we started as we just wanted to see which was more powerful.  Turn 1During Deployment I kept everything in reserves except the devastators and the Armoured Taskforce, my opponent had hid most of his army behind a large building in his deloyment and castled his doomsday ark to stop an alpha strike, unfortunately for him he forgot that the shrine of the Aquila has a door at the front. He chose that I got first turn and so I dropped 3 drop pods near his deployment zone (2 melta tacticals and venerable dread) and the marines deployed as combat squads through said door and activated the tac marine doctrine. The rerolls to hit gave the army a great turn one punch and rerolls of 1 for the venerable effectively gave it a 2+ reroll to hit. As the dust cleared after the shooting phase the smoking remains of the doomsday arc were all that was left of it, granting first blood to the emperor's finest. The venerable was less lucky with his melta shot swiftly dodged by an annihilation barge and the combat squad marines did nothing to the immortals with their bolter fire. As the armoured taskforce rolled forward and the devastators took up position in a building and looked for a target my turn Ended.During the Necron turn there was alot of hate from the xenos directed towards the melta squads in the building and  the venerable dreadnought. They quickly dissolved the front members of the melta tac squads which included both melta gun wielding marines however, after an ungodly amount of gauss fire was aimed upon the dreadnought, he remained upright with one hullpoint remaining. In the Assault phase the wraith unit jumped through reality to wipe a combat squad from the board like it was nothing. during turn 2 the Honour guard squad arrived to provide more fire power upon the blood slicked wraithes as the swarm of necrons got nearer. The Assault squad also arrived in the heart of the enemy, ready to bring their flamers to bear.  Turn 2  In this turn models moved up to better engage the technosorcery of the xenos. A 5 man bolter squad moved towards a stationary annihilation barge, righteous zeal burning throughout their bodies. The dreadnought towered over the necron immortals and the devastators and predators took aim at the other annihilation barge. This shooting phase saw an annihilation barge go down to lascannon fire and a few necron warriors here or there and the Assault squad targeted the deathball triarch squad with their flamers but did nothing the honour guard fired point blank into the wraithes but managed to only cause one wound. In the Assault Phase the venerable Dreadnought mutilated the immortals and tried to consolidate behind cover but only rolled a 2. The bolter squad with zeal pumping  through their veins charged the annihilation barge, as it didn't move all of their krak grenades hit and 6's were needed to pen and remove it's quantum shields, one pen and no glances were caused and so I rolled on the damage chart, our righteous brethren decided that they would rather just get rid of the vehicle themselves instead of just weakening it and so they rolled a second 6 on the damage chart and as it was open topped, the barge exloded! taking 1 marine and 4 warriors with it! The Necron turn saw all of his units focussing my alpha strike with the backline being completely ignored. The shooting phase saw the Dreadnought still standing, however the Assault phase saw the dreadnought being targeted again, the wraiths this time, determined to bring him down. two wraiths came at the bastion of the imperium, their lashing whips scratching the paint but doing no real damage to the dreadnought, in response he crushes one of the xenos in his power fist and stamps upon another before he succumbs to the weight of numbers of the last two wraiths. The scarabs  go on to charge the zealous tac squad and they proceeded to slap each other pitifully and the assault squad was obliterated by the triarch praetorians.  Turn 3 In Black Templar turn 3 the final tac squad arrive with their marshal and pour fire into the necron warriors, the honour guard move towards the last two wraiths and the predators take aim at the rear armour of the ghost ark.  in the shooting phase the whirlwind and tac squad hammer a warrior squad but only take out half of the squad. the predators with a massive amount of fire manage to take off a hull point from the ghost ark but manage little else! In the assault phase helbrecht makes a rallying call and his honour guard charge into the wraith of the enemy and a combat squad charges into a squad of warriors. The resulting combat showed a wraith still standing with the full honour guard + Helbrecht with 8 attacks managing only to cause 2 wounds. The other combats went a bit better with a a few scarabs being killed and some necron warriors. In the necron turn saw the monolith arrive, blocking LOS for my predators to his ghost ark he moves the ark to heal some warriors as his monolith targets my assault squad. In the shooting phase the monolith whiffs his particle whip and the rest of his army not in combat shoots at the marshal and his squad. In the assault phase the triarch praetorians charge into the honour guard for a mass brawl, the only ap2 weapon in this melee being the wraiths rending (needless to say though in the next few turns he manages 3 rends and doesn't die throughout the whole combat). The spider charges the zealous bolters and does nothing for a few turns and the game slows down.  Turn 4-6 In these turns the captain leaves his squad to charge the ghost ark whilst his squad helps out another squad in combat. in the rest of my shooting phases the devastators and predators try to kill the monolith, it took 3 turns and 24 lascannons to bring down the monstrosity. In the assault phase the captain charges the ghost ark and takes it down to 1 hull point, the zealous bolters do little to the spiders and the honour guard are slowly getting whittled down.In the necron turns helbrecht is the sole survivor and is getting pummled by the entirety of the enemy, the necron jetbikes charge the captain to try and prevent the ghost ark going down and the monolith does little to the predators. In combat the captain manages to wipe all three jetbikes for another victory point and the bolter squad is finally killed off by the spiders.  Turn 7  after this there is very little left that happens, Helbrecht goes down, the spiders start taking drop pods and the captain ends up taking down the monolith. The game ends on turn 7 and after counting up all the points it was a victory to the necrons with 1 VP in it! Having enjoyed that game, looking back I think that combat squads was a poor idea for a kill points game, too many of my warriors were killed too easily. It would probably be better to invest those points in deathwind launchers for better damage from a tankier unit.If you have managed to read all of that I thank you! I am going to write the third battle report later, any tips/ideas for my next battle report to make it better?Teaser for my third Battle report:Points: 1500Xenos species: TyranidsGame Mode: The Scouring Edited August 5, 2015 by NoPityNoRemorseNoFear Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/301060-the-sanctus-crusade-sigismund/page/2/#findComment-4138819 Share on other sites

NoPityNoRemorseNoFear
I have also begun with a custom Sigismund/Helbrecht conversion. Not much actually changed on the model but I think he still looks the part! Honda
Batrep: Absolutely! Â I like the idea of going with a yellow. It's different, is a nod to our roots, and in a sense, could convey a Scouring Era vibe. I say run with it. Â And trust me when I say, you're guys do NOT look shabby. NoPityNoRemorseNoFear
@honda- Thanks! Regarding the batrep, should I do anything differently compared to my last 2? more story telling/ making it fluffy and similar to lore or simply what happened each turn? Yeah the Artificers are having a very busy few months! I think it's pretty bad that I have planned my next project before finishing the previous one, oh well! They will all get finished at somepoint! NoPityNoRemorseNoFear
Hi Everyone, sorry I still haven't written my last battle report but I will get on it, I promise! Before I left all of my Warhammer behind, I brought my glorious bits box and glue to keep me occupied when I have some spare time.http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/ah78/Btemp93/temporary_zpsjfhzxlhn.jpg  Since then I have managed to knock this fella together (sorry for a few poor pics):http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/ah78/Btemp93/temporary_zpsj6sn4mwu.jpg http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/ah78/Btemp93/temporary_zps2vtiu3ld.jpghttp://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/ah78/Btemp93/temporary_zpsuwxx4bfo.jpghttp://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/ah78/Btemp93/temporary_zps9tbovrob.jpghttp://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/ah78/Btemp93/temporary_zpsviqhh3dy.jpg  What do you think I should go for next? bolter marines? Assault Marines?I still haven't made my apothecary I guess...I'm planning on building a few assault marines with magnetised backpacks/jump packs but I don't have any magnets here they won't have either atm. Hope you like him! Marshal Reinhard
how many do you have of each ? That's always a good place to start I find Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/301060-the-sanctus-crusade-sigismund/page/2/#findComment-4199510 Share on other sites
NoPityNoRemorseNoFear
Yeah That's a good point! I am pretty sure I have more bolter marines than CCW marines, but quite a few bolter marines are from starter sets, I might have to templarify them myself with greenstuff and chains or assemble a few more, it's a tough one! I think I might make a Melee templar next, Perhaps with a Power axe or a power maul.Pics to come when I make my mind up and complete it! Marshal_von_Speer
I really like your Terminators/Honourguard! What kit are they based on? Whole GK Paladines or did you just use the helmets? Whole GK Paladines or did you just use the helmets? Thanks!  Most models are kitbashed,  For the Honour guard, some of them are just the finecast masters of the chapter sprue, the others come from a mix of the BT Sprue, Sternguard and Vanguard.  For the Terminators They come from alot of kits: Heads & Swords - Grey knight Terminators Torso and shoulder pads etc - BT sprue Alternate Torso and Shields - Deathwing knights The legs, arms and thunder hammer mostly came from standard assault Terminators Sprue The alternative shield and brass - Forgeworld Marshal_von_Speer 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/301060-the-sanctus-crusade-sigismund/page/2/#findComment-4201141 Share on other sites

Acebaur
Nice idea on the conversion of the TDA SS's into tower shields. My only suggestion would be to sand some of the rough bitz a little to smooth it out. Also I like your conversions of the masters of the chapter into HG! Â Question though, where did that cloak on your marshal come from? NoPityNoRemorseNoFear
Yeah that was my first attempt at using greenstuff,  I need to get a file/ Sand paper for exactly that reason! The marshal was largely made from the Shield of Baal: Deathstorm character Captain Karlaen. so it's his cloak that I used and his posing, all I did was swap an arm, a sword and the head to make him.He wasn't meant to be anything special but after I saw it completed I knew he had to be my Marshal. Also, I have came home for the weekend so keep your eyes peeled, I will have some nice stuff to show you soon!
