NoPityNoRemorseNoFear
Just read this thread and i have to say, what lovely work on the templars. Thanks! The crusade has definitely been a working progress, I am now much more comfortable doing things with models which I would never have though of trying in the past. I am going to revisit old crusader squads to retemplarify them at somepoint. Another thing you might have noticed, I am the worst as basing my models! I have a new theme now so I am working on that right now at least! Honda
I would also vote for the first pose. It's what we see the most, but it's also just an overall excellent pose. I've kicked this around as well, because my Sigismund still sits in his box (he's been cleaned), but I'm just not ready to start him yet. I look forward to seeing what you do. NoPityNoRemorseNoFear
Hello again everyone,I haven't been the most productive recently but after getting a few more army painter sprays I picked up the templar bug again. So far my progress with Sigismund is as such;- I have chosen to use Sigismund's original duelling pose and I have fully assembled him - I have straightened his sword and GS'd gaps etc. - His head has been magnetised- his body (minus head) has been basecoated black and is looking forward to being painted soon hopefully!AND..I have finally got round to giving him hair! I don't know about you readers but I have always aspired to give Sigismund the golden locks that he was depicted as having in the HH Series. So I drew inspiration from this piece of artwork below.http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/ah78/Btemp93/14231286_1089478607774188_5930573523653392697_o_zpsaleq0wz3.jpg Right, the moment of truth; do you think I have done him justice? . . . . . http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/ah78/Btemp93/20170318_105015_zpsazyqrxgv.jpg http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/ah78/Btemp93/20170318_105024_zpsol2cjv5b.jpg http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/ah78/Btemp93/20170318_105033_zpszienmula.jpg I am happy with how it turned out, I've never done hair before and I was a little impulsive and decided to just go for it in the end.So here is where I am at with it so far, I can post pictures of the fully assembled model in black later if anyone is interested. Once again, thanks for giving up your time to read this, makes the hobby all the more special! P.S. If anyone would like a press mould of his head before I paint it/detach it from it's sprue just PM me. Link2edition
did you use greenstuff for the hair? I have been playing around with it, unfortunately the conversion I am most proud of was an ultrasmurf (for my wife's army not mine!) so I can't show him off here. I am always surprised with what GS lets you get away with. I am always surprised with what GS lets you get away with. Yeah, I used milliput's yellow-grey instead of the normal yellow-blue kneadatite. I normally prefer normal GS but had already mixed some milliput for a DiY project so I decided to give it a shot on Sigismund. GS is great once you get used to it, if you look further back in this post you may even see my first attempts at using it! NoPityNoRemorseNoFear
Greetings crusaders,A bit of a small update but here's Sigismund fully assembled and basecoated in the chosen pose. NoPityNoRemorseNoFear
Where did you steal that iron halo from ? I got it from a bitz website called zealot minitures (awesome name right?) , you can also find it by searching Iron Halo on Ebay if that is easier. http://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/iiAAAOxyYSJR96E~/s-l500.jpg Good luck with painting him! I'm looking forward... to seeing it finished. Thanks, It is quite intimidating when I keep worrying that I need to do him justice! Any thoughts on how I should paint him and the Scenic base? I was thinking of painting the tank as a loyalist and the Heavy weapons legionary as an Iron Warrior, thus it would show Sigismund meeting out retribution on the heretical forces during the siege of Terra (the theme of my HH IF force). As it will be during the Siege of Terra Sigismund would be wearing black armour as this is the first time that he has been chosen as the Emperors Champion, Should his armour still contain some of His Legion's Yellow or just Black with his personal Heraldry in White? Thanks for everyone's thoughts! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/301060-the-sanctus-crusade-sigismund/page/6/#findComment-4692336 Share on other sites
Brother Christopher
Regarding painting Sigismund himself, I'd probably go with almost all black, with a small, symbolic yellow addition, e.g. a knee guard, to honour the Chapter. And seeing some of your other models, I'd recommend a red tabard (or maybe that's just me tired of 'tan' cloth?)! I am not 100% sure of what I will do with the tabard as I was thinking about making it pure white to show his personal heraldry, I could use red like you suggested but use it in the trim instead with gold. I think that could look good as it matches the red/gold of the Custodes. I will probably google some already painted Sigismund mini's for inspiration on the tabard to see what compliments the model. Thanks for your advice! AndrewChristlieb
If I remember correctly his personal armor was repainted. If so (and if you do damage) maybe have any battle damage edged with yellow to show the layers of paint. NoPityNoRemorseNoFear
Hail Brothers!Painting has been a little slow recently however I am quite happy with what I have managed to do so far. I am planning on working on the model base first and then Sigismund himself (this is quite ironic when you see what I have completed so far!). I have already decided that the base should tell a small story in which an Iron Warrior has been cut down by Sigismund after it had destroyed a loyalist legion's tank. Seeing as this is set during the siege of terra, the tank could be either White Scars or Blood Angels (obviously it can't be Imperial Fists). Does anyone Know which type of Tank is wrecked on Sigismund's base? If it is a Sicaran or equivalent I am probably going to paint it as Blood angels but if it is a transport them I will probably make it as a white scar. Thanks for all help and feel free to suggest which it should be one way or another! Right finally onto the good stuff:http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/ah78/Btemp93/Imperial%20Fists/20170331_123609_zpssfxnmk55.jpg http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/ah78/Btemp93/Imperial%20Fists/20170331_123439_zpsptvuqsv0.jpg http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/ah78/Btemp93/Imperial%20Fists/20170331_123407_zps3c97e86g.jpg Note that the green ear has since been fixed ^ http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/ah78/Btemp93/Imperial%20Fists/20170331_123350_zpsb4lo1ko6.jpg http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/ah78/Btemp93/Imperial%20Fists/20170331_123331_zpsdlpca4rs.jpg Photobucket has been acting up so I have since also magnetised the head to see how Sigismund looks on his body!http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/ah78/Btemp93/Imperial%20Fists/20170331_155713_zps81kqehre.jpg http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/ah78/Btemp93/Imperial%20Fists/20170331_160746_zpsjwlv9vwe.jpg http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/ah78/Btemp93/Imperial%20Fists/20170331_160816_zpsusbbdbhx.jpg Thanks for reading as always.NP NR NF! Bjorn Firewalker
Good job on the head, but why is his wreath so low on his head? It's invisible from the front, as if he's hiding his status as the Emperor's Champion (what I assume the wreath symbolizes). When I was GS'ing the hair on the wreath didn't look right as it was curved in to where his previously bald head was. If I had kept the full length his hair was going to look poofy unfortunately. Thanks, That's what I thought but wanted a second opinion. It looks like my base will have a ruined BA Sicaran downed by the traitorous Iron Warriors! I managed a little more work last night; I added sand to the tracks of the tank and painted it brown to look like it has been churning up earth on Holy Terra before it's destruction during the Siege. More work to follow hopefully. Imperator Vult!
