Sviar
Great work Chef, and a very well made camo, it reminds me of a fall(season) scheme and the tank has a lot of details. The plate in the front is it an empty ammo shell collector? @ Pigshead I like the sand coloured tank with the white lining is it 1 part yellow and 2 parts Ushabti bone? Your Pask seems to me like a Tallarn officer, which fits in well with the dessert camo. That is a very good looking tank. @Our_Baz Great work, very nice to see it finished. With the risk of repeating myself, it has a very clean and fresh look. The tracks seems to have multi layers, is it Boltgun metal as a base and a 50/50 mix between Iron Breaker and Hasnut Copper? I like the regimental history, the first thing that came to mind was that this is a great recruit world for the Grey Knights. Fantastic job Kierdale and your tank is has an incredible amount of details. The first thing that stood out was the half opened hatch at the side. Great idea, I have never seen that conversion before There are so many details put on it, it seems that I discover something new every time I look at the pictures. And a big plus for the drilled gun barrels. The tank looks awesome. I like the story of the massive Waagh that fomed a new order. I could picture the massive push from the Guard and the air filled with fliers and the deafening roar of 100 Le Man Russes and the explosions of constant barrage. I like the regimental fluff too. I think that on sunday I will be given a chance to see some gloomed sun rays that will peak out from the clouds. If not I will not wait any longer, so I will upload a story and pictures of my Vanquisher on this sunday. Your Pask seems to me like a Tallarn officer, which fits in well with the dessert camo. That is a very good looking tank. It's Zandri Dust with a Seraphim Sepia wash, then another coat of Zandri Dust. Highlights are Karak stone and then a 50/50 Karak Stone and Ulthuan Grey mix. The pask guy is one of Bob Olleys 'Scrunts', as I'm building a Squat inspired Astra Militarum army after discovering some 20 years old squats in my parents loft. Also, thank you for the kind words. It's finished now, I'll post a couple more pics tomorrow with my regiments back story. Sviar
Well I promised pictures of my Vanquisher and a (good) short story to go with it. And when I promise something I always keep it, so without further adieu: Front:Rear:Another front view: The story: The mine rebellion started with disgruntled workers who was furious with the new mine treaty, giving them more hours for the same pay. The mine workers stormed the office and overpowered the two Guards that where placed outside. Well inside they cornered their supervisor, the mine world mayor and his staff. In the deepest mine they hang them all. One of the Guards broke free and launched himself on the panic button, the three mine workers who had been holding them at gunpoint with their own Lasguns punished them both.-Sir, there is an alarm from the small mine world Tesa.- Have you contacted them trooper. - Yes sir, no one is answering with the correct abort code. The code they gave me was 1697, which is…- I know what that code means soldier, some of the cleaver mayors switch the abort code with the panic code, so whoever is on the other end of the line thinks he’s home free. Lure him into a false sense of security and then sound the alarm.Sigurd the Vanquisher driver sat sloped in the battle barge The Emperors Lights briefing room. His head hurt and he was tired, but the red chair was surprisingly comfortable. There where rows after rows with red chairs mounted to the floor. They were facing some kind of a stage with a big screen and at the left end showing Tesa and the surrounding mining stars. His loader Bore sat to his right and was engaged with a conversation with the right gunner on a Le Man Russ battle tank.Directly to the right a row above Sigurd sat Tilde the driver of the Le Man Russ battle tank. Of course you’re in the Russ said Bore with crossed arms and a smile and continued, us real Guards sits in a Vanquisher with the big gun. Tilde leaned forward and put her chin on his shoulder and her right hand on his leg “are vi over compensating for something?” she said with a laugh. Bore laughed and put his hands on his neck and looked up, “no if you got it you have to make sure people know” he said. Their laughter hurt like pick axes in Sigurds ears, I got to find something for this headache he thought and started to search his Sviars Standard Medical Pack, issued to every trooper in the Sviar army.Captain Katarina Lute entered the stage with a big presence. SILIENCE. Sigurd jumped since he had missed her entry to the briefing room, his ears where now ringing as he was franticly searching his pack. Finally he found it, he gave away a vague smile and used the cantina to wash it down. Relived he started to listen to what Katarina was saying. She pointed at the screen. “The only commercial town of Tesa is Volu, we are running the shuttle traffic with goods as usual so they won’t become suspicious”. The Sviars 78th, 23rd and 47th stands ready behind the nearest star. The small PDFforce has joined the rebellion and is now occupying the mineral refinery north east of Volu. Since we don’t know if the Major and the staff are alive we assume that they are, and we want the heavy armour to pave the way for the 78th and 47th, making sure the reach the mine entrances in one piece. After that you will drive to the refinery and support the 23rd infantry, expect fierce resistance from the local PDF. You have thirty minutes to check and if necessary update your equipment in thirty one minutes we make planet fall. The battle barge rocked and shrieked as it entered the atmosphere, making the heat reflectors work hard. To Sigurd the planet looked grey and lifeless and if it wasn’t for the huge vast reaching tree domes this planets air would be thin because the native plants and trees were but a few destroyed when the miners first came here. Because the native nature couldn’t deal with the toxins and chemicals brought here. The drawbridge opened and Sigurd and his crew drove off the ramp and led the column into the rocky wilderness. After a while he pressed the vox microphone – We are 2 minutes away from the rendezvous with the infantry squads. Right away the Scout sentinels broke formation and turned left heading for the mountain trails. Sigurd was a little curious as to why, because they were briefed behind closed doors. The 78th and 47th had a mixture of all ages both males and females. They started to cheer when the column drove by. After a while the rough terrain became smooth and the mining site came to view far away. The Sviar engineer troops had already hacked into the main frame of the communication central and the speakers around the mining site was blasting with orders of surrender. Those that surrendered would not be prosecuted. Sigurd rolled up to the newly crafted tank traps which seemed rushed. Sigurd opened the Vanquishers com link. –So what do you think? Well said Jane the flamer gunner, I would say that the rushed traps can easily be destroyed with a couple of precision shoots, and the chance that the barbed wire will be entangled in our wheels and tracks is minimal if we drive over the wooden pols. This is not a very good defense structure she continued. This is miners not soldiers Sigurd reminded her, and he continued, they are not only miners, most of them are Sviar miners, and I don’t enjoy shooting at them. None of us do Bore added. Sigurd activated the Vox microphone, Command central this is Alpha one we have reached our destination, with us are Alpha two and three, awaiting orders. For a while there was only a static hiss, and suddenly the vox jumped into life, Alpha stand by. After a couple of minutes Sigurd saw ten unarmed miners walking out of the mine.-Command, Alpha one, some of the miners is surrendering. -Perfect, let them leave, came the reply. After a while the vox spoke again,-Alpha one their time limit has run out proceed as ordered.Sigurd felt a lump in the throat as he ordered the two Le Man Russes to open fire into the mine shaft. Barrage after barrage went into the mine entrances, screams was deafened by the cave inns in some sections in the mine. Sigurd ordered the two Russes to do as he did and drive close to the opening to crumble the rocks that caused the cave inns. The barrels was not far from the entrances as Bore emptied yet another spent shell and hurled in a fresh one. I can imagine the loudness of the blast Sigurd thought. Proof that the cave inns problem was solved was that a few miners attacked the Vanquisher. They were quickly showered with burning hot promethium from the Vanquishers heavy flamer. With no water nearby they screamed in agony as their flesh and organs burned when the scorching flames consumed their bodies.igurds Vox awakened and the command voice was talking.–Update Alpha one. Orders carried out sir, Sigurd replied.- Good the rest here is up to the 78th and 47th, regroup with the 23rd at the refinery in the outskirts of Volu. As Sigurd and the Russes began to drive towards the new objective he saw the infantry squads run int the mine. The road to Volu was quite uneventful. To pass time they talked about old war stories. Finally they reached the refinery, oddly the huge complex looked abandoned. As soon as the 23rd was catching up with the column a big blast hit one Le Man Russ, the explosion ripped open the hull and killed the crew instantly. Before they could react, many troopers jumped out with rocket launchers and Lasguns and started to fire. Another big blast just missed Sigurd the Vanquisher rocked and shrapnel hit and dug into the right side hull. Sigurd opened the vox link and screamed - BASILLISKS. Tildes Russ lost its left side gunner due to a blast from a rocket launcher. Sigurd hailed Tilde"lets blast the right wall of red building to our right and create an easy accessible entrance to the 23rd before the Basilisks take us out". Tilde replied- Affirmative. If we don’t make it I got to say that it was a pleasure to serve with you, doing the Emperors work means sacrificing yourself for the greatest cause in the whole imperium, if it is our time is limited lets go out with a big blast. Right after Tilde ended her vox speech the Russ took out half the red wall with massive explosion that rocked part of the complex. Bore looked at Sigurd with a smile time to wreak havoc, a second later the Vanquisher took out the other half of the wall that also ignited the warehouses interior. What was left of the 23rd after Basilisk and rocket launcher shelling rushed in with bayonets on. That sent the soldier on the wall downwards to take on new defense formations. Another blast from a Basilisk landed nearby and sent up dirt showering the two tanks, seconds later came another shoot that hitTildes Russ back, and the explosion killed her engine, She voxed Sigurd, - we lost all power. Come aboard the Vanquisher said Sigurd as he opened the rear hatch. Tilde and her crew rushed in and managed to close the hatch right before the other Russ was blown to pieces. Razor sharp shrapnel took out parts of Sigurds right track.Tor led the 23rd, the fighting inside had so far been a success, hard trained Sviar Guards against basic trained troopers. He carefully looked at the other side of the archway. He saw a couple of heavy weapon teams and a bunch of soldiers that still was in the process of identifying their defensive position in this two story office building with a wrecked floor to separate the two stories. Tor signaled to Magdalena to throw a blind grenade up to the second level, she used a big crack that some troopers used to aim down to the archway. The grenade bounced on the edge and landed on the tiled floor and at the same time Tammy and Jim threw two in different directions on the first level after the bang all of them started to fire blindly and highly inaccurate. While Magdalena rushed in to toss a melta bomb upwards to take out the fortified heavy weapon teams, the rest of the squad went in and taking out the troopers that in their blind stage even shoot each other. Thesquad secured the building. Next house and last house is complex 62 said Tor, and continued it is filled with heavy weapons, grenade launchers and a wall of Lasguns. Tor took out his binoculars and stared at complex 62 as Tim went to get the blue print of that structure. As Sigurd thought hard how he and the rest would get out of this mess his vox sparked to life."Alpha one, this is Sviars Sentinel squad Tango 9, we have taken out the two Basilisks that hid in the mountain".Tor and his squad who had cut the power were trying to sneak into the building, but they had installed a generator. The sheer firepower was too much even for a squad of Astartes. Tor was pushed back out of Complex 62. A big chuck of complex 62s side exploded as they dove for cover. Rockets, auto cannons and countless Lasguns beams that flew out of the hole in the building had them pinned down. Vulture the medic tried to stop the bleeding of the wounded and cut out pieces of shrapnel from complex 62s wall. His real name was Mikel, but after the siege at Lorel and the events that took place there, his fellow guards rewarded him with that nickname. He tried to fight it at first, but after a while it grew on him, until one day when he presented himself as Vulture for the new recruits. A bullet graced his helmet as he crawled to care for the next wounded. -Sir they are getting ready to charge.Commissar Yngve led the charge on the mine, this time it was too close to home for him to really rejoice in burning the instigators. Fabians flamer set another ill constructed nest ablaze, as the flames consumed them they begged for their lives. Commissar Yngve gave them a merciful death by delivering a bolt to their heads. The tunnel network was so vast and complex Yngve felt that two squads were too little for this gigantic search. Many tunnels had a multiple intersections. The 78th squad who had split east into the tunnel network hailed Diana the communications guard and near Commissar Yngve"Commissar you better take this call". Sergeant Hannah of the 47th squad had found miners hiding in a fast constructed shelter with their spouses and some even brought their children. Hannah had separated the miners from their families and had them at gunpoint. She briefed Commissar Yngve and awaited orders. Yngve gave the situation a quick thought and pressed the vox microphone."Miners who knows the war is coming often take refuge in areas where they find themselves safe and for a miner it’s deep within the mine". Sergeant Hannah escort them and their families out of the mine and vox the command central and make sure that they provide blankets and warm food for them. "Yes Commissar". Hannah looked at the miners and ordered them to stand up. As they began the tedious work to hurdle them out, a female miner ran to her husband and hugged him and their daughter. Yngve finally find the end to the tunnel network and there in a poorly lit room he found the mayor of the world Tesa and his staff, the hanged supervisor had a sign around his neck with the words “traitor” on it. He turned to Johan and ordered him to cut them down and load them up on the gravitation bench.Tor threw a melta grenade over his head in the crater where he had taken cover. He turned to Leif who had taken over the vox when the Jim the original vox carrier had died. He reached for the vox microphone and hailed Alpha one. Sigurds vox came alive and he heard Tor. - Alpha one we need assistance right now. Tilde and Bore listened as Tor and Sigurd spoke. Sigurd who couldn’t move due to broken tracks had to think of something. Point the barrel at complex 62 Sigurd ordered. Shell after shell hit complex 62. Tilde helped Bore reload which cut the reload time in half. The complex exploded and the heat that came with every explosion cocked the PDF troopers alive, screams became muffled after the whole complex collapse with a big screech as it fell apart. Tor looked at Tim who took the flamer and walked among the debris and made sure not a single PDF was alive. Sigurd and Tilde walked out and shooktheir hands with Tor, they got along very well. Sigurd pulled out a bottle of S:t Olofs mead he had saved and passed it around. After taking a mouthful Tor handed the bottle to Tilde and said “this is heaven in a liquid form”. As laughter replaced laughter they emptied the bottle.Three months laterStefano the newly appointed mayor of Tesa brought out another tray of S:t Olofs mead to supervisors from every mining shift. Are we content with the new treatyhe said. Every supervisor happily signed the document. By the way Stefano said I want to see every one of you at the start of every month. It doesn’t matter if you’re pleased or unhappy, I want to hear all of it. Sviar
So much to to say, don't know where to start. I want to thank everyone for the kind words, it meant a lot. The story took 30 min to copy in, because the text wouldn't fall in to place and there were some more problems. I had to exchange a lot of - to " when poeple spoke just to get the text colums in the right order. And when I pressed post the text flew out of the screens right corner and became some what dissordered again( really annoying and frustrating). I do apologize for the dificult read. And WarriorFish I want give you a BIG BIG thank you for taking your time to sort the story out, now it can be read without hardship, I really appreciate it I must admit I'm curious what the classified rank are. @ Grotsmasha Sounds a little bit scary to step into a walking uven and being baked alive. WarriorFish
Don't worry Sviar you'll be finding out what the next two ranks are very soon for Big Guns is ending this week! That's right, this Saturday the 14th of February is when the doors come down at 20:00 GMT so those that have yet to post their completed tank picture please do so as soon as you can! This is the most important thing as that's what makes a vow complete, the background stories while desired are not essential - better to complete at a lower rank than fail of course! As ever we're not looking for Shakespeare so there's no reason not to give it a bit of a stab if you have a spare few minutes Don't forget if you've already completed your regimental background you must still post it again to count for the Sergeant rank but a new piece or additions are most welcome. Onwards to glory comrades Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/301573-regiments-of-the-bc-big-guns-never-tire/page/10/#findComment-3946278 Share on other sites

Kierdale
Elmo, your best one photo, please. I'm going to force you to choose :) Mosaic? Did I miss something? Great work on the extras too btw. Back in the teaser thread it was said that a parade of all the completed models would be great. Since we can't get everyone together I suggested I make a mosaic of the best single image of each completed model.Hence I'm asking everyone to PM me a link to the single image you want used. Once the event is over I'll put them all together :) Alternatively you could all post the actual models to me here in Japan to photograph. I promise to send them back... :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/301573-regiments-of-the-bc-big-guns-never-tire/page/10/#findComment-3947743 Share on other sites

Brother Handro
So I finally got round to taking some pics of my Punisher, Revenant. Not usually a fan of using the flash, but they came out quite well; http://i783.photobucket.com/albums/yy112/BrotherHandro/74face20-b7cf-4589-92cf-69c68d3d7cc1_zpsae429708.jpg http://i783.photobucket.com/albums/yy112/BrotherHandro/34553cb3-e498-41fb-8906-d19541b11cce_zps02ab63f0.jpg http://i783.photobucket.com/albums/yy112/BrotherHandro/004734bd-ccaf-413d-a87c-592b5078a7c0_zps7f79c6b9.jpg http://i783.photobucket.com/albums/yy112/BrotherHandro/0307fee4-6495-41d5-8edb-2d108b3fd9ef_zps8706f160.jpg Tank History; Tank number 101 of B Company, Grandian 4th Armoured Division, under the command of Lieutenant Scheer at the onset of the invasion of the Grandian system, originally went into battle almost directly from its delivery to the unit. Thusly there was no time for her crew to even name her before being knocked out during her first action during an opportunistic but ultimately failed raid on an Emperor’s Children resupply drop.Pioneer teams managed to recover the hulk of the tank before it burnt down and she was back in service within two months. As a consequence of this premature death and rebirth, Lt. Scheer, who survived the action, decided upon the name ‘Revenant’, a fitting epithet for a Punisher returned from death. As depicted here in a rather battered condition, she would go on to see heavy service for the duration of the war, her guns reaping a fearsome toll against those that sought to send her back to the grave. Army Info; The 4rd Armoured Division, whilst nominally a branch of the regular Grandia Defence Force, was in practice under the command of the Feldgendarmerie [Grandian Military Police] until the creation of an independent Feldgend Armoured Corps after the outbreak of war. Even after this, many armoured units remained under the control of Feldgend forces thanks to the emergency powers passed against the will of the beleaguered Imperial Governor. Indeed fourteen solar months into the invasion, after a vigorous series of expansion and recruitment drives Feldgend forces could muster 65% of all field guns, APCs and armoured assets on the surface of Grandia IV despite being only 75% of the size of the regular armed forces and nominally being a military police formation. Needless to say, this was just one of many reasons the Feldgend proved deeply unpopular with the regular armed forces as well as with the civil population. The Grandia Feldgendarmerie were originally formed as a military police unit with the intention of keeping watch over the Vattran regiments that used the Grandia system, and Grandia IV in particular for rest and recuperation as part of the Vattran 12th’s settlement rights over the world.Timeline of Feldgendarmerie Expansion;Approx. 7 years before invasion; Vattran 12th granted settlement rights over world of Grandia IV, an agri-world 23 years compliant.Approx. 3 YBI; Feldgendarmerie established as military police to patrol vast distances between farms and watch over skeleton military forces present - mainly retired Vattrans and other Vattran regimental units on rotation.Approx. 2 YBI; Heresy erupts, GDF founded as part of galaxy-wide directive to defend worlds against possible attacks/seizure of power. Feldgend reorganised as independent command branch and given increased jurisdiction over civilians and training of GDF conscripts.Invasion; GDF compulsory conscription for all non-essential civilians introduced. Recruitment for Feldgend stepped up and separated from GDF induction, and Feldgend High Command established in order to control rapidly expanding manpower and bureaucracy.8 months after invasion; GDF conscription compulsory for all males aged 15 and over. Top 10% of candidates given over to Feldgend. Lord Governor’s attempts to prevent granting of emergency powers to FHC beaten by vote of Army Commanders after unfortunate loss of Field Marshal Sarshe in shuttle accident.9 months AI; Feldgend granted total civilian authority. Curfew established in urban areas. Rationing increased to subsistence levels for civilians and GDF. FHC given decisive executive authority over rival GDF Command in vote whilst Lord Governor taken ill.14 months AI; Feldgend now at approx. 75% standing strength of regular army, but with 65% of total number of field guns, APCs and armoured assets on Grandia IV. Women become eligible for Feldgend induction. GDF begins civilian recruitment drive, aimed at forming militias capable of working their land and defending it if necessary, and appeals for civilian cargo haulers to be requisitioned for the war effort.17 months AI; Ober-Marshal Hyad, second in command of the FHC is ambushed and killed in mysterious circumstances 18 kilometres behind friendly lines whilst returning from a frontline inspection. 14 cases of GDF expressions of jubilation result in summary execution by field judges.19 months AI; FHC approves use of psykers for frontline duty, citing the desperate situation, depravity of corrupted Astartes enemy, and lack of reinforcement in the form of supplies or munitions, despite the best efforts of the Imperial Navy to break blockade. ---The regular GDF forces have no choice but to put up with the interference of Feldgend units assigned to them, fearful of the sweeping powers they wield, most particularly by the discipline masters, field judges, or worst of all, the dreaded Enforcer regiments. Most distressing is the endless bureaucracy and infighting between the two rival High Commands, which may lead to rivalry and bickering in the strategy rooms, but leave countless conscripts wastefully dead on the frontlines. Fluff was inspired by real life performance; I got this tank painted up but unweathered for a battle against Der_H, and thanks to some disastrous maneuvering and the capricious whims of the paint gods, she was knocked out early on by a lascannon squad (IIRC) for a return of two dead marines... Feels good to finally 'get my feet under the table' on this forum. Thanks to the powers that be for running this and for everyone's entries as inspiration and encouragement. I struggle to finish things without a deadline.Expect a WIP thread (and yes, I have many Victoria Minis Guardsmen, they seem to be all the rage all of a sudden) soon enough. WarriorFish
Well done both on achieving Warrant Officer Class 2 rank! Very good completions in both tank and prose :D I love all the extra bits and details you've done Handro and the searchlight looks great. It's good to see people pulling out the stops - tanks deserve no less in my opinion ;) Best of all is seeing completions and people enjoying it, especially as we're fast approaching the final deadline! There are only a few remaining who have yet to complete - I know I will be finishing on time but what of the others? Press on for the last push to victory! elmo
Yup, the green works really well :) Come on Guardsmen - those who have yet to complete their vow make the final effort before time runs out and you fail The Emperor! You do not want to make the Commissariat angry... you would not like us when we're angry! Firing squads at dawn, less tea and biscuits comes to mind!
