Brother Dallo
+++ From Iron cometh Strength +++ http://i.imgur.com/yJzFvEil.png Brother Sergeant Sonim Arnost - Pict-Sketch by Brother Priad Masahkio Brother Sergeant Sonim Arnost has held the epithet “Bull” for as long as most of his squad can remember. Were the IVth legion want to keep the company of remembrancers, one of that esteemed order may say that such a title reflected the fortitude vigour and tenacity of the good Sergeant. Ask any of the brothers under his command and they’ll simply say that he has the strength of an auroch and the temper to match. Hello everyone and welcome to my Horus Heresy Iron Warriors Plog. I give special mention to DimDim's wonderful Imperial Fists. It was the content in his plog that finally pushed me over the edge and drove me to my first ever forgeworld purchase: http://i.imgur.com/KzUt3mbl.jpg I'm aware that several talented members here have their own Iron Warriors plogs, and I'd be lying if I said that I hadn't hunted through several of them for inspiration. However, I have a few twists and ideas of my own planned for this army, so I hope you like them. C&C welcome. Dosjetka
For the small bit of fluff-blurb at the beginning of your post, "squad mates" breaks the immersion into your story for me. Perhaps I could suggest that you change this for "squad members" or "fellow brethren"? Anyway, I am curious to see what else you've got in store for us down the line. Keep the updates coming. Brother Dallo
Thanks for the comment Dosjetka. I changed the fluff, so hopefully you feel it flows better. I shall endeavour to update this log as often as possible, real-life commitments permitting. Dosjetka
Much better :) Also, no pressure for the updates. Just make sure you don't do like I do (ie. start something, abandon it mid-project and then let the whole thing rot like a Nurgling's carcass...) Brother Dallo
Glad you like it better Dosjetka. I hear you on the update thing. Still, I'll try to keep the plog up to date when I can. @hushrong Thanks very much. I was just playing around with my pictures on the editor, and the colour disappeared, so I went with it. It was a happy accident, and if I can replicate it, I might do it for the rest of my guys. @Khrangar Hope I don't disappoint. When I was researching Iron Warriors I came across your work. You have some very nice Iron Warriors. Filthy traitors, but nice non-the-less. Thanks for all the comments guys. DimDim
This should be good. (pulls up popcorn and smirks contently) :) Cant wait for the rest of the squad, and the way you wrote his description fits the iron warriors well. Direct and to the point. Operative
As an Iron warriors fan, I'm interested in what personal take you can place upon the IV Legion, I'll follow this with interest. Brother Dallo
Thanks for the interest and the follow Operative. I have a few ideas. I just hope they look as good on the table top as they do in my head. You guys can be the judges of that. Brother Dallo
+++From Strength Cometh Will+++ http://i.imgur.com/NIsZJgNl.jpg Untitled Self Portrait- Pict Sketch by Brother Priad Masahkio Well, it's my 400th post here at BnC, so I hope it's a good one. Below is Brother Priad Masahkio, one of ten tactical marines. Excuse the blu-tac as his bolter arm will be left off for ease of painting. http://i.imgur.com/Ly6KefLl.jpg After all that talk about doing Iron Warriors a little differently to everyone else, I thought I'd better put my money where my mouth is. The more astute of you will notice that Priad's bolter is not one traditionally used on Heresy models (yet). So I have a little game to play. Is the bolter a ) A new mark of bolter from Forgeworld, not yet shown at the Weekender? If so, what is the name of the bolter type? b ) A Games Workshop plastic bolter? If so, what kit is it from? c ) A 3rd party "Bolt-Carbine" ? If so, who's it from? d ) Alpharius I've managed to get a little paint onto Arnost, but nothing worth updating yet. Hope you enjoy. Doghouse
Plastic Ork bolter ;) Been trying to get my hands on those for ages. Good luck with the army, you're off to a good start! :tu: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/302878-ferrum-intra-in-the-footsteps-of-giants/#findComment-3943273 Share on other sites
Brother Dallo
Well done Doghouse! It is an old school ork plastic bolter. I believe they are from Gorkamorka times? I have a large collection of about twenty plastic and metal bolters which I got as part of a bitz joblot from ebay. I had no idea what they were when I first got them. Unfortunately they are chunkier than a regular bolter which meant I had to trim off the back end to make it fit MkIII hands, and heat the other hand to bend it round the fatter grip, which also required trimming. How many are you looking for? Still, I like the stockier look, especially the barrel, which takes a 2mm bit to drill out. I think the brutal, unrefined aspect suits the Iron Warriors pretty well. http://i.imgur.com/jOOemnUl.jpg Thanks for your kind words Doghouse. Your truescale stuff is inspiring. Ok guys, it seems like my first question was too easy, so you get the bonus round. There is a Lego movie hidden within my posts in this thread. Find it. DimDim
I see mk2 and mk3! kit bashing is always the best way to go. Im excited to see the rest of the figs, nice touch with the bolter! Brother Dallo
Thank you DimDim. I agree. Kitbashing is much more fun than building stock. It's pretty hard to make out in the first picture, but he also has a plastic shoulder pad from the sternguard kit. This picture shows it better. http://i.imgur.com/JdJ2MXzl.jpg Glad you like the bolter. It takes a bit of work to make it fit into the model's hands, but I feel the effort is worth it. It adds to the under-supplied, almost ramshackle look I'm going for with my IW, I'm pretty sure it's unique, and if nothing else, using bolters from my bitz box is much cheaper than buying fancy forgeworld bolters. Hopefully should get a little painting time in tomorrow. I hope you're still keeping up the momentum on your Imperial Fists. Olis
Well done Doghouse! It is an old school ork plastic bolter. I believe they are from Gorkamorka times? If I'm not mistaken, it's actually from before Gorkamorka (although they were used in Gorkamorka). Possibly 2nd edition vintage? Brother Dallo
Thanks for the comment Olis. They could be 2nd edition, which would make them roughly as old as I am. Brother Dallo
As promised, here is my first painted HH miniature. http://i.imgur.com/8dHy6dGl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/FACDsqTl.jpg I've left his shoulder pad blank in the faint hope that the rumoured GW heresy boxes include IW transfers. It could happen... right? I'm pretty happy with how he turned out. I might add a few touch up later, but I think he doesn't look too bad. C&C welcome.
