The Redeemers ~ Black Maru's Order of Redemption

Finally made a start on those Sternguard I knocked together nearly a year ago:

sternguard1b

sternguard1

one down, nine to go.

And this years ETL vow:

I, Bukimimaru, rise to the challenge of E TENEBRAE LUX and vow to complete 5 Sternguard vets (1 Powersword, 4x Combi-Plasmas and 1 Plasma gun.) and their accompanying Drop pod.  from Codex: Blood Angels of total value of 215 points on or before August 15th, 2016.  Success will bring eternal glory to the Blood Angels and failure will doom me to bear the Badge of the Oathbreaker until the year-end.

Pics of the current (primed red) models will follow this evening.

Nearly fell off my chair at the "your name is stupid. Change it". Brilliant.

Also your Sternguard dude looks so much like one of mine (style wise, not just the model) I was convinced you'd broken into my house and stolen my models. But you haven't.

  • 2 weeks later...

The third Six Up Save league has kicked off and I still haven't had my first game.

Tomorrow night I'm headed down to my FLGS to take of Charles and his shiny new Tau army.

The rules for the S^sv league can be found here: http://sixupsave.blogspot.co.uk/p/campaign.html

He usually plays with lots of tanks and Crisis suits, so that's what I'm expecting to be up against.

Here's my list:

Librarian (Jump Pack, ML2, Force Axe, Digital Weapons)

Death Company x6 (Jump Packs, Power Sword, Fist)

Fraggioso (Flamer, Fragger, Droppod)

Tac Squad (Combi-flamer Heavy Flamer, Rhino)

Tac Squad (Combi-flamer Heavy Flamer, Rhino)

Assault Squad (Double Inferno Pistol, Melta, Melta, Droppod)

Assault Squad (Double Inferno Pistol, Melta, Melta, Droppod)

Turn 1 I drop down both Meltacide squads and open up a couple of tanks.

Turbo-boost both Rhinos up in his face, one on either flank. The Death Company will stick to cover and hopfully out of sight.

In theory, the Meltacide squads should have done enough damage to be his main target. He'll kill them easily, but as long as they've crippled his tanks then their deaths will not be in vain.

Turn 2 Big Crispin drops down, and smashes any light infantry he has, Death company move up hiding behind the nearest Rhino squad.

Once I've got him in combatwith my DC he wont stand a chance, I've just got to hope the meltasquads and Rhinos distract him long enough for my DC to get into charge range.

Wow. The redeemers made a pretty impressive comeback considering they've not seen much action this year.

I manager to beat my opponent 26-3! :ohmy.:

He took a Riptide, two squads of 3 Crisis Suits, a Hammerhead and a a big crisis-suited HQ. (not sure who it was, but it wasn't Farsight).

My Pods dropped in turn one, the Riptide fluffed all the interceptor rolls, so my boys got in unscathed and obliterated the Hammerhead.

The Rhinos made a wall for the Death Company to hide behind. Turn 2 they were close enough to Charge down and brutalise the Riptide.

By turn 3 all my opponent had left was 3 crisis suits, Which I ignored and focused on grabbing all the objective for the rest of the game while he picked off a few tac marines here and there.

A good start to the league. :smile.:

Looks like my next game is against Jamie #1, the Space Wolf player.

He likes to take loads or drop-pods filled with Drednaughts (the one with the Axe and Shield as well as several Heavy Flamer variants) combined with Thunderwolf cavalry and Wolfen.

Obviously, as the game is only 1,000 and restricted to one CAD / Detachment, this should limit his options.

What kind of list should I take to combat a drop-dread Spacewolf army?

Bring your own pods.

Bring Karlean.

Bring a Callidus Assassin (if possible with the Detachment restrictions...)

Enjoy a 4+ Reroll to Sieze to Guarantee first turn.

Your pods come down first and so can CHARGE first.

You also get re-roll to reserves while Karlaen is on the table!

That would certainly mess with him! Aside from that, your best bet is probably shoot his Thunderwolves and Wulfen to death, and charge the rest. Although the Wolves are quite good if you charge them, what with Counter-Attack and their counter-charge formation bonuses.

Sadly no Calidus as we are restricted to using only one formation / detachment.

I'm liking the idea of Captain Karl and some Thunderhammer termies. That's about the only thing we have to reliably kill off Thunderwolves.

Sadly as they are T5 they will still have multiple W and a 3++ to get through :( it'll just be a fight of wounding on 2+

Taking a stormraven would be another option, but that would leave me woefully underpowered until it arrives turn 2-3.

The speed of the thunderwolves and wolfen make it difficult to rely on reaching turn 3 if 1/3 of your points are off the table.

  • 1 month later...

Progress for ETL vow has been slow.

Should be done in time for cut off.

Got my first time in about a month coming up vs orks this Friday, might inspire me to get my arse into gear.

Playing my buddy Charles whose been playing for about 2 years now, but this will be one of his first games using his new Ork army.

Wow, what a busy week! Got my vow complete, had a friendly game with Charles against his new Ork army and Tthis afternoon I attended Six Up Save's "Escape from Eidolon" doubles tourney.

I won't go into that as Charles and I played dirty Xenos, but we came in 5th out of 18 teams and we were only a few points away from 3rd.

I'm playing against a friend of mine tomorrow against a pretty gnarley Deamonkin army.

I've decided to go with a list thats totally different to what I normally field:

Librarian Dread.

Big Crispin (Fragioso dread with flamer) in a Pod

Cassor the Damned in a pod

Assault Terms with claws

Sanguinary Guard x7 (1 fist, 1 axe)

All flamer tac squad in a rhino

Dakka Baal pred

Storm Raven with assault cannons and hurricane bolters.

I know he likes to play infantry heavy so I've taken lots of 2+ armour to take the sting out of his mass ap3 attacks.

The Daemonkin (broadly speaking) don't have a huge amount of anti-armour, so I've taken plenty of dreads.

Dakka Baal and stormraven to put out tonnes of bullets against infantry.

Libby Dread and Cassor hunt Monsters.

Tac squad boost between objectives as they are drawn.
