Dantioch

Recommended Posts

Just waiting for my FW order before I go full steam on my Ultramarines, also going to paint up my SA in the Calth High Guard colours from Tempest.

Are you looking to do an Allied Detachment ala Dantioch?

Maybe later but for this force I want it to be a company on their own biggrin.png

*Peeks in*

*Kneels to Dantioch*

You have my sword brother!

But seriously, this looks fugging glorious.

My Captain, I'm honoured.

Thanks a lot man!

Great stuff, dude! The weathering looks excellent thumbsup.gif

I'm guessing that you've left the shoulder pads undamaged because you're going to be using the new UM decals?

Thanks Kizzdougs, yeah still waiting for the decals to come biggrin.png

You're making the Iron Warriors helmets and contemptor look good, Dantioch. Forge World should hire you to paint their products. tongue.png

Thanks very much it means a lot, as long as they send me free models haha laugh.png

Yeah, I guess I forgive you. ;p

Alos looks great!

Cheers man, your own Solar Auxilia are forcing my hand to paint my own biggrin.png

Looks good! Same blue I am going for too smile.png

Thanks man

That's a really nice blue. Looks awesome!

Cheers golem!

Fantastic! wub.png I do like the fact you've gone for a darker blue (something I've done for the models I have smile.png than is typical (not that the lighter models painted by others aren't nice, I just prefer a darker shade happy.png )

Thanks, yeah I prefer the darker blue fits in with the grittier 30k universe but I do love those lighter shade blue ones that were in the FW cabinets during the HH weekender biggrin.png

I was really impressed with the transfer sheet too, and the Praetorian armour is really cool. Still need to make use of mine haha. I'm not sure if it's been asked but just briefly how did you do your blue?

Yeah no problem man, I spray it with Chaos Black then Macragge blue. I then shade all the recesses with Nuln Oil and tidy it up with Macragge Blue. For the weathering I sponge on Calgar Blue then Ironbreaker then some patches of Stormvermin Fur and wash it with some patches of Agrax Earthshade. Its pretty simple so I can paint them quickly and hopefully they look good haha laugh.png

Are you serious? This is the recipe for such a gorgeous blue?

You people are killing me! :P

Cheers mate. Sounds perfect for me, quite simple, no mixing paint, perfect! I'll definitely give it a try.

Since we're on the topic of painting and modelling. Can I ask how you go about the process of basing your marines?

Yeah no problem, first I put some patches of milliput on the base so when I glue the sand down so it looks like a bit more natural. I then stick some bits of cork down.

For the painting I basecoat the whole base with Dryad black then drybrush it the Gorthor brown. I then give it a wash with Agrax Earthshade over the whole thing. Once the wash is dry I give the cork a light drybrush with Karak Stone and some patches over the sand. biggrin.png

Hey guys, sorry for the absence The Witcher has been dominating my time but now its completed I can get back on track biggrin.png After reading through Tempest a few times and looking at other Ultramarine armies on here the Ultramarines have really captured my attention, can't wait to see FW cover the shadow crusade and it looks like Roboute will be my first Primarch too!

@kizzdougs Thanks man, sorry it took so long long to reply, yeah its just sponging biggrin.png

Made some slight progress on the predator:

And some mock-ups of my next marines. With this force I want to pay special attention to each marine to make them all unique:

Finally I've settled on a scheme for my Auxilia, the Calth High Guard. I really enjoyed painting this scheme so no doubt I'll be building a force of Solar Auxilia too:

Thanks for the comments everybody. I just finished my Predator this morning so that marks my first completed vehicle and I loved painting it, enjoy!

You might be able to notice that I covered up some of the transfers with the exhausts because I didn't even think to check what they would cover when I put them on so I've learnt my lesson for next time laugh.png

Got a few more vehicles to paint up once I finish my Dreadnought. biggrin.png
