XIth: Wardens of Light - Destined to be forgotten

So it's time for the news:

Started to paint the vets, but as it is actually too cold and i am totally inexperienced with airbrushing, I primed him via brush. Used imperial primer, but as you see on the bolter, it doesn't stick to the model. ( and i shook it for 3 minutes and even inserted little metallic bolts, so it would stir better.)

Actually the gold laxks the second and third highlight and the blue is only the first thin baselayer. My problem now is the skirt. I wanted to give them white skirts, but I have no idea how to make them pop and even.

Somebody has any Idea? I know why I don't play white scars:)

That aside, what do you think?

overall looks great so far!

traditional way to do white may help. light gray base washed in nuln oil or vallejo dark gray wash, then highlighted up to white in 3-4 layers of color, actual white on the tips and hard edges.

hope that helps a little, and keep practicing with an aribrush, it pays off, i swear!!

Autumn wind of eve,

blow away the clouds that mass

over the moon's pure light

and the mists that cloud our mind,

do thou sweep away as well.

Now we disappear,

well, what must we think of it?

From the sky we came.

Now we may go back again.

That's at least one point of view.

So, at long last, the final picture depicting the end of the XIth Primarch.

Many thanks to aituarmanas (http://aituarmanas.deviantart.com/) for his hard hard work ( every new pic was better than the last and you rely brought my confusing thought and crazyness to life) and I hope we will work together soon enough.

Now I have to catch up with the shortstories ;)

Hope you enjoyed his works.

It was so quiet.

Malcador found that surprising. For all the titanic ferocity of the battle that had raged here less than half an hour prior and despite the seemingly endless deluge of rain that pounded down upon the field, the silence that now reigned over the former battlefield was deafening. It was as if the world itself recognised the profound gravity of what had occurred here and dare not risk disturbing this place. Even the battered and bloody crowd of polished gold and stormcloud-grey Astartes that surrounded him made no sound, the usual low hum of power packs and faint whine of armour servos so distant as to be rendered mute. He knew why of course, what had come to pass here was unprecedented to say the least, some would even say impossible. But as Malcador continued to stare down at the now-still figure in the blood-soaked mud before him, the awful truth was clear for all to see.

Gwalchavad.

The lifeless form of the Eleventh Primarch laid upon his back, unmasked, eyes closed as if sleeping. Malcador was not a man easily moved, necessity and millennia of life having hardened him to such trivial things as the death of a family member, but even he felt a small pang of regret as he looked upon the slain demigod's tranquil expression, noble even in death.

"So it's done." A gruff voice said, finally breaking the silence and prompting the Sigillite to tear his eyes away as the battle-worn Leman Russ slowly limped toward him, the patricidal Commander Guiare Amalasan in tow, Leman's eyes locked on his late sibling. "Yes." Malcador responded, careful to keep his voice even. "The cancer of your brother's weakness has been excised, you did well Leman." The Wolf King grunted dismissively, a long pause followed before he spoke again. "What of the body?" Leman said, turning his gaze to the Sigillite. "I will take it with me when I return to Terra, He will want to see it." Malcador replied. "Why? Just leave him here, let him rot amidst the ashes of his failure." Amalasan interrupted, eyeing his Primarch's body with undisguised loathing. Before Malcador could respond Russ whirled about, snatching the former Apostles of War Legion Master up by the collar and raising him to eye level with the Wolf King. "Mind your tongue whelp. Fool or no, Gwalchavad was still a Primarch, my brother, and your father. His death was necessary, and I do not regret the part I played in it, but you would do well to show some respect, lest I decide to send you to join him."

With that Leman tossed Guiare aside, sending him face-first into the mud as he turned back to Malcador. "Take Gwalchavad home Sigillite, let my Father see the proof of our deeds here." He said sternly. "Then give my brother a proper burial, he deserves that much." Malcador nodded solemnly as Russ marched away, Space Wolves falling in behind him as they left the Sigillite and now-fatherless Apostles to sweep away the evidence of what had transpired here.

Not one of them saw the sorrow in the Wolf King's eyes as he departed.

.... SanguiniusReborn....I couldn't have written it better. That is absolutley awesome. Thx for this masterfully piece. I consider it now canon in the wardenverse.

And thx to all for the kind comments.

By the way, did anybody realize that the blood on the floor resembles the legion symbol ;)

Edited by MikhalLeNoir

Super sweet, mate.

Simply lovin' it. Now as you mentioned it, it is really cool that his blood forms the Legion's symbol. Well done.

@SanguiniusReborn: Really cool! Funny thing is that I too wrote a short ending of Gwal's life fading away which included a regretting Leman. ;)

Hi there!

Hehe. It was on page 4, where I referred to the Executioner and also stated that Russ is the connecting piece between Icarion and Gwalchavad. But I had to search as well. Otherwise the end of light stories.

By the way: A Veteran Gathering ;)

Had to undercoat them with the brush, I really have to chexk my airbrush out.

Edited by MikhalLeNoir

1. undercoat with black.

2. Basecoat with vallejo tin but brazen brass or a copper color does the job.

3.wash with agrax earthshade/ or army painter strong tone

4.layer with retributor armor

5.wash with serahim sepia.

6.now you can either light drybrush mit liberator gold or highlight with it. Drybrushing gives a more ragged look and removes the bling a bit ;)

7.watered down wash with seraphim sepia

8. Extrem highlights with runefang steel.

Of course you could work with more drybrushing or on those two vets above i tried sponging. With a drybrush it would be easier. Would put on the tin a light coat of gold so that on darker areas the tin ahines through and for highlights i would use liberator armor and zenital highlight it. But the final runefang highlights i would still brush on.

I REALLY SHOULD TRY MY AIRBRUSH OUT....

For the blue shouldepad and skirt I use macragge blue as base. And vallejo blue ink as first wash. Layering with again macragge and altdorf blue

The red belt: black->bestial brown/ or another brown-> mephiston red-> mephiston mixed 70/30 white and 50/50 redwhite

Hope that helps

And I can't wait to see them. Hope to see them posted here.

Hey folks, news from the Wardens.

I decided to tackle over the time every single broverse primarch and started with a revised edition of the Avatar of Light. (Yeah haven't finished the canonverse version bit hey ;) )

Had luck and get my hands on this nice PRIMARCHS body and started to work.

It is really early on and Gwal will be part of a Diorama where another 2 Primarchs in one form or the other will be present.

He will look a bit different from his canonverse counterpart, but who knows what could have happened if he was meant to survive in canonverse.

@Sigismund229: Thx mate, we see us at the Eternity Gate ;)

Soo, as I habe actual no time and Space to draw, I decided to make an extra "Brotherhood of the Lost"-Version of Gwalchavad. My luck, that I got my claws on a Corax Body and well I started to kitbash. I liked the initial ose, so I kept it, only changed the arms and a few other things. Still an early version, bit maybe you have some comments on the direction I am heading too.

http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2016/2/1/775512-.jpg

I thoufht of giving him dreads, but fear that he is then too similar to corax.

Should I give him additional to the braid (Still invisible) hair on his head or keep him bald olus braid?

Something like that:

gallery_78117_10471_9537.jpg

As this is an alternate universe version of Gwalchavad, he can have some special thraits.

Ah and his head sits deeper, is just the blutac which fixes the head for the photo

Until next time ;)

So today I worked a little on the fellow and added some more details. He is still very rough, but I hope I can sand it down.

I added underarm protectiom and a stronger shinguard. Do you think i should add some filigrane patterns on them and the chest? I kinda like the idea that he has a more simple armorstyle during his return in the insurrection
