Depth charge, amazing cataphractii, nice and brutal looking, how did you get a smooth white on the shoulders guards? I got really frustrated painting white tabbards.

Rattray, nice termie. I like the rusty, blood stained cleaver.

Used a break in the clouds to get some good photos using natural light.

... Did you just call me Rattray? 0_o

Can I blame auto correct?

Sounds like a pretty good garage metal band. I'd roll with it :P

As for the white, I did two thinned layers of ceramite white. It's a maddening science to get the white just right. Too thin and it flows into parts you don't want. Too thick and it looks chalky.

My advice is as follows:

1.) Load pallet with two parts ceramite white

2.) soak brush in water and mix the water and white into a nice consistency

3.) Sacrifice 2 goats or firstborn child for best results

4.) rinse brush, repeat

This isnt related to my pledge, but I got a little excited and bought some bits to make a mock up for my templar brethren for when my package arrives and want peoples opinions, and here he is:

med_gallery_82040_10175_9283.jpg

Thoughts? I thought the templar being the elite of the legion would be equipped with the newest most advanced Armour, so I gave him MK4 instead of MK3.

Also when he gets based he'll be standing on the corpse of a traitor, and he will get a sculpted tabbard.

It's awesome. One thing.... I would consider passing on the tabard. It's got such a monistic warrior feel that I feel like the less cluttered the better.

With that pose, it will look a bit more natural if you can turn the left leg out a little bit. When we stand we tend not to have are feet pointing forwards. Otherwise he looks good.

I second this as well

Ah crap this month has gotten away from me ... Didn't even realise there is only a few days left. Well guess I can keep these undercoated marines for the ETL then...

Howdy all... I've ben at a conference in the Catskill mountains of NY for he last few days. No wifi has been a gift:)... I didn't bring anything to work on as this trip has been a retreat for me and not a work trip so no time for hobby fun:)

Now I'm in NYC for the first time and am absolutely overwhelmed by the concrete jungle. Having visions of Titans rolling through midtown and all of the apocalyptic battles of the end times in hive cities playing out in technicolor in front of me.

I'll be back home LATE Tuesday and am hoping for that wonderful brown box from overseas to be waiting for me-and then I have 2 days to finish tidying up my BA and catching up on the rest of life:)

Dim- I concur on the left foot turn out and wow I'm excited about seeing your brethren rockin it out.

Palak- I feel you on the assembly line detail painting PITA ;)- looking fantastic man!

Raktra- dang your Hands are looking good! Your IRon father is great.

Poom- whoa... Your vorax are changing my opinion of the model quickly. Also- would love your Martian red recipe!!:)

Spu00sed- the EC are gorgeous and vibrant. Love the purples man!

I'm still of the mind that FW should have made the Templars Mk IV & the Phalanx Warders Mk III. The Mk IV's mobility just seems to suit close-combat fighting much better in my eyes, and I'll always associate the Mk IV pieces on the Black Templars upgrade sprue with the whole Templar archetype.

TLDR: your style of Templars gets my vote

sup00sed - lovely work mate. Why not post your whole delegation shot in the Hall of victors thread - all army shots are welcome!

Raktra (aka Ratray :D) - Excellent gorgons fella, your whole vow is looking excellent. What are you on about though? MKII armour ALWAYS looks good!

Poom - So nice :) some of the first Vorax I've seen painted, and they are looking fantastic. I hope you can finish up!

DimDim - I think the templar is great. I agree that the MKIV legs are more dynamic too, and I think they work well on these guys. Look forward to seeing a whole squad.

Dantioch - excellent work as ever. The upgrade helmets look great, but I always quite liked them. Have you got any torsos? I was underwhelmed with them, but I'd be intriqued to see if you could change my opinion!

4th Horseman - Great progress. Do you think you'll get all 10 done in time? Would be a sudden and impressive showing from the blood angels this month if you do!

Gizur - Your work is always stunning, but I really am blown away by that bloodthirster. It'll be a shame to lose your work for a month or two sir, but understandeable! Could I persuade you to pledge just one model for the Heresy forum ETL effort in May? Then if you regain your painting Mojo before the three month challenge is over you would be allowed to add som bigger pledges and we can all benefit from your speed and quality! Go on Gizur - your brothers might need you!

Anyway - believe it or not I've done some work and finished my next three marines! So pledge complete, and a tiny bit more honour to Vulkan! I hope you like...

I'm really enjoying the look of mixed armour marks, and the first of the Salamanders torsos was great to paint. The free hand nocturnean glyphs, flames, numerals and unit marks based on the stuff in massacre are all great fun to paint too. Here is a shot of my whole month's work:

Next up, the ETL, and my sicaran...

So much goodness in April.

Kor'Vesh - Excellent Sallies. I really like your brighter green, and the flames look great too.

poom and gizur - You guys never disappoint. Great stuff as ever... Do they teach precision painting in German schools? msn-wink.gif

I'm almost done, and it's not even the last possible moment! biggrin.png

My Command Squad and Polux are complete. I've still got to stick a couple of decals on my Breachers and then they're done too. Pics below!
