++Blood for the Blood God: Daemonkin community++

Recommended Posts

Thinking of using this Bloodletter as a "dirge caster" but not totally sold on it yet. It might be a little much, take away from the coolness of the knight on its own.

Thoughts?

cheers I can't clame much credit they are Gal Vorbak, my daemonkin are of wordbearers stock

currently painting 9 more crushers and 30+ more bloodletters, have acquired a second skull cannon so I can do the bloodied horde :D

anyone had positive experiences with a blood throne?

While I agree that the Bloodletter seems a bit much you could always go one of the following routes:

a.) have the Bloodletter emerge from the Knight's carapace at the waist, like it's actually fused to the carapace/emerging from the very substance the Knight is made of

b.) use multiple Bloodletters that are clambering over the Knight's carapace

c.) a combination of the above

d.) use opion c and paint it all in tarnished bronze, to make it look like it's all decoration instead of actual live daemons.

Just a couple of ideas, off the top of my head...

Yeah, you know what: Let's just be crazy for a moment here and imagine you covering the entire back of the Knight in Bloodletters emerging from the carapace like it was some primordial goop -- some of them would only be faces and hands, some would be almost fully formed. That could actually end up looking fantastic!  You should probably use the standard plastic carapace to try that out, though. Which means you could always fall back on the pristine FW carapace if things go south.

It's a pretty sweet idea definitely :)

So, how are people using knights for their Daemonkin? I know Prot has gone into detail about how he uses them, but I was wondering if anyone else was using them with the Daemonkin? I'm looking at adding 2 to my Chaos Armies in general, 1 with 2 Gatling Cannons and a Battle Cannon Chainblade one.

Bloodthirsters crawling out of a surface is pretty easy too.

I had forgotten you made that! I've built one emerging from one of the shoulderpads, but used green stuff around the edges to make it look like it's a part of the armor pulling away from it.

Alright, here's how the shoulder pad is looking right now. I'm reasonably happy with the results. I think pulling off a good paint effect for the transition between the armor plate and the bloodletters/skulls will be the key:

You are definitely on to something here! The effect is very well done, and I think having the Bloodletter's pose conform to the shoulder pad, by and large, was an excellent choice: The challenge here is to have the emerging daemons enhance the Knight's silhouette with some suitable chaotic spikiness without breaking it up too much. By the look of it, you are off to a terrific start!

Not quite sold on the skull, though -- personally, I would have preferred to see a Bloodletter face/head emerging from the right side of the shoulder pad (only the face and a hint of the horns, maybe).

I'll have some bloodletter heads here and there for sure. I liked the skulls embedded in Archaon's dragon thing, and the Khorne monstrous creature from the AoS starter set. Didn't quite end up with the same effect but we'll see. I won't be using too many. I envision much warp-related weirdness going on throughout the knight's armor.

Venom that's crazy stuff man.

Just a word of advice. A Bloodthirster came to my dreams last night... he said to me, "Get Venom to paint some of those awesome conversions up... or I'll be forced to show him the error of his ways with my thirsty D-Axe"....

I just wanted to pass that along to you. ;)

Also, that shoulder pad is extremely well executed. I don't know if I'd go that direction, but you've nailed the effect.
