IHF's Archive: Sketching the Heresy - The Manufactorum

@IHF

Funny you mention the psychically scarred marine. Recently I did my SoH Leviathan that had a psychic back lash and has his skulls on his armor talk to him, I will put it in a spoiler tag later when I have time ;)

I also had a DA Moritat in the works that had fought alongside the Emperor in the early days and became awash with some of his psychic energy. When his squad dies, leaving him alone, they are psychically bound to his armor and he still sees them and thinks they are part of his squad. However, they are obviously not there, leading to him being sent to the Destroyer cadre. Librarians within the legion can catch glimpses of his phantom squad, but they are never long in sight.

So, the other day I was looking at my copy of Index Astartes Apocrypha, specifically at Jes Goodwin's concept art for the Land Raider, and I saw this.

Kinda looks like a transport variant of the Sicaran, doesn't it? Just thought you might find it interesting, IHF, and (hopefully) a bit inspiring.

Those both sound awesome dude - the options for mixing roles with psychic marines following the dissolution of the Legions' Librarius divisions are really cool

Hmmmm, I've been considering making a proper MBT based of the Land Raider hull for a while - that's pretty interesting

We're all rooting for you buddy (of course we're all rooting for you on a totally selfish level because we want to buy the models you come up with ;) )

* Iron Warriors Deredeo Character - a Warsmith who built a specialised Deredo in preparation for his eventual demise, instead of the autocannon, it'll have a modified solex-pattern lascannon on each 'arm', and a carapace mounted siege-style mortar, with the heavy bolters swapped out for the new olympian-pattern versions featured on the Iron Circle

Hum, this idea doesn't sound that good... Who am I kidding, I want a whole talon of these !!!

* Death Guard Destroyer Contemptor - a moritat interred in a Contemptor seems perfect for the DG - one arm gets a Chem-flamestorm cannon, the other a DCCW with a rad-grenade launcher & a carapace mounted phosphex discharger.

This needs to happen. Nowish.

Holy :censored: on a :cussing :censored: that's awesome. The gravity hammer is cool, though I was imagining more like the iron circle than the Domitar.

Maybe swap the nipple flamers for extra graviton rifles? :ohmy.:

Even though this isn't for the right Iron Legion, I want this !

I hadn't seen this... Yep, Nowish is about the right time.

Great news mate, good luck with the application! I thought about applying but my drawing skills just aren't good enough for it yet, I don't think.

I thought that myself for a while, but the job description specifically states that they aren't looking for illustrators, just people who can effectively communicate the look of a model through sketches

Thanks Depth - and those ain't flamers, they're multi-meltas

World Eaters' Atrox Contemptor-Cortus:

Similar to Furioso dreads - they're used to intern warriors whose injuries are so severe the Butchers Nails have just taken over, and they're basically drop-podded in and their servomotors are unlocked remotely once they impact. Come with Charonite claws & twin-linked bolters (the latter can be swapped for TL flamers /plasma guns /meltaguns /volkite calivers / grenade launchers

Huh. Conspicuous timing using the Ogryn Chain-Fist thing since Flint just used one on a Castellax hahah

What? Where? I've had an idea for a Castellan / Castellax class of Battle-automata with charonite claws & a volkite culverin penned down for ages :laugh.:

:ph34r.: :ph34r.: :ph34r.:

Youd have to ask her haha!

Seriously, FW could count me down for like 5 of those already and you don't even work for them

Haha, thanks man, though I can't take all the credit - it was partially based on this:

Tonight on IHF's aimless revision doodles: Imperial Fists Praetor / Seneschal / Marshal / Castellan:

The armour is superb! I think your art has come pretty far in the last year I've been here. I do have some criticism to make however, hopefully constructive.

- I definitely imagine all Imperial Fists having cross-guards on their swords, it fits better with their culture.

- The Bevor (neck-guard) could also possibly do with being slightly higher, allowing 1. More protection to the neck and face (this is actually a common gripe for me when it comes to PA, only mk8 seems to get it half right), and 2. to have more pleasing proportions to the cross.

- I think a holster of some kind for a pistol, would be interesting on his right leg (it looks a bit blank atm), and possibly some kind of decoration for the vambrace ?
