Legion MkV Mars Pattern Dreadnought Drop pod

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/99590101069_DreadnoughtDropPod03_zpssut6oxhk.jpg

From the deep darkness of Australia I come bearing reviews! 5 in fact that I've been sitting on for a while, but due to my exhaustion and work commitments I haven't had the time to post these. So first up is the Dreadnought Drop pod. A great big piece of resin to transport your walking dead into the thickest fights of the 31st millennium.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/2016-06-29%2016.56.44_zpsntq1trng.jpg

so here it is in all its glory the queen of the drop pods

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/2016-06-29%2016.55.53_zpsaphdtyvr.jpg

The one page instructions that forgeworld used to be renown for

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160629_164813_zpsyxxnytux.jpg

massive chunks of resin for the doors

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160629_164827_zpsxviyq83w.jpg

The plates for the base of the pod

Fins for the pod

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160629_164912_zps6o9koddd.jpg

massive hunk of engine block

And there you have it boys and girls so for the next 5 days I'll be posting a new review and or build guide.

Next up is the Xiphon pattern Interceptor so stay tuned

:`) So proud to see my little logo at the top of a review.

Also, I just realized how big a DDP is because of this review. They're fricking huge, aren't they. Wow.

Yeah, they're about 1,5 times as big as a normal dread. An 80mm base fits inside, and if you glue its feet directly to the base and model your contemptor in a bit of a hunched pose, it'd fit too.

With the new Pod FAQ the charge range will be absolutely massive if the doors are open :-P

ohmy.pngohmy.pngohmy.png

I can honestly say this hasn't occurred to me. With the Drop Pod being Open-topped (i.e the exit point is anywhere) this is nuts.

great kit gorgeous cast and I can not fault it. I believe it will be a joy to paint.

next up will be Eidolon from the character series.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/10ZRlcm-1_zpsj4f5pp2r.jpg

Lord Commander Eidolon of the Emperors Children

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/99560102232_LordCommanderEidolon01_zpssvzrviuc.jpg

So long story short, I decided to do a review on a member of the character series as the whole premise originally of this thread was to cover them, since then this thread has expanded and a year since it's launch here we are once again covering more topics and products then previously.

So what does the future hold? Well I'm not exactly sure, the past 12 months have been a bit all over the place so I guess it's time to take a break and continue with the only constant in my life.... warhammer!

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160629_163628_zpsr4cpdfsi.jpg
http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160629_163707_zpsps2mmo5b.jpg

This is my third ever kit from the character series and I can tell you it does not disappoint at all.

Eidolon's body, a great cast filled with all the details you'd expect of this arrogant mother:cusser.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160629_164002_zpst8ynjaxh.jpg

his cape, which conveniently sits under the jump pack go figure!

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160629_164039_zpssxnmrk6i.jpg

Standard MkIV jump pack with added subwoofer so all the astrates can hear your dubstep.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160629_164056_zpsoobnn0cl.jpg

and finally all the intricate pieces such as the meteor hammer and helm etc etc.

So all in all a lovely piece of kit and the start of yet another project but not till 2017.

Thanks buddy, let's see Saturday my ute blew a head gasket on the way to adelaide. Payed 400 to get it towed got no idea what the cost will be, works flat out the misses is stressing me beyond belief I've got commissions to finish along with etl to complete stuck in a :cuss unit till December and pretty much broke till Christmas.

So I know it's 1st world problems but 2016 is pretty much :cuss so far.

Next up will be the praetor tribune

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/10ZRlcm-1_zpsj4f5pp2r.jpg

So the ugly mug that everyone criticized is up for review, what can I say? It's a great model and hopefully an indicator to more models being represented throughout the 30k armies worldwide? Well I'm going to say it's a step in the right direction and not push it any more than that.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/2016-06-29%2016.57.03_zpstcshmdru.jpg

so here she is in all her glory! Behold the majesty of the Tribune.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160629_164239_zpsbt79kfwr.jpg

rules for using a Praetor Tribune.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160629_164250_zpsxt1hkbuy.jpg

The legs are great and down the track I'll Hunt down a second praetor tribune for a conversion idea I've got kicking around.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160629_164258_zpsd71pi2tv.jpg

half the torso and arms, it's an interesting way to be casting models but I've got no complaints on the quality.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160629_164346_zpse5konkju.jpg

And of course the scenic debris and rubble.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160630_171621_zpspdnqdhjl.jpg

and an idea on the potential of what you can achieve with the right parts, this guy will be part of a zone mortalis force I'm spit balling. I'm considering making a Traitor version of the Sekhmet that kizzdougs has made since I seem to constantly be giving him some ideas I thought I'd use some myself

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/10ZRlcm-1_zpsj4f5pp2r.jpg

Legion MkV Mars Pattern Dreadnought Drop pod; Build

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/99590101069_DreadnoughtDropPod03_zpssut6oxhk.jpg

So building this bad boy, well it took me a grand total of 15 minutes! Honestly I love the quality of this and ive added 3 more to my planned projects list. All I can recommend is get some araldite for the base plates but first let's begin.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160704_190231_zpsekjt5arr.jpg

prepare straighten clean etc all your pieces removing any excess resin chunks.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160704_190311_zpshh6gpquj.jpg

slot the doors into the side of the base

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160704_190339_zps5ti0n243.jpg

here's a better view of what I mean.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160704_190447_zpsyj1vn9yh.jpg

using a strong epoxy attach the base plate to the deck plate like so, I used the weight of a Spartan to apply pressure while it's upside down giving it to me to cure.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160704_190752_zps2l1ns92j.jpg

I then started to attach the fins to the engine thrust block

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160704_191016_zpsibfikene.jpg

once it's set you simply attach it to the base plates.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160704_191201_zpszvwpygcn.jpg
http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160704_191146_zps3mirp5p8.jpg

and there you have it! An easy quick build and another model off the list!

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160704_191518_zpshlikrsyd.jpg

and finally a size comparison next to a Contemptor Dreadnought.

Next up is either the Xiphon build or the assault cannon drop pod!

[uPDATE]

Due to lousy luck with my car I unfortunately won't be doing these reviews for a fair while. I plan on returning to this thread probably early 2017 if luck has it.

Until then I will request for this thread to be locked until such a time as I can provide the time this thread needs.

Thank you for your support and I will see you around the board.
