A quick one to put to the community.

What do you think about my Aridex defensive bolters?

now they are easy to replicate and I may add more details to them but I like the simplicity of their design.

If anyone has anymore spare Heavy bolter sponsons like those from the sicarians predators etc I'd love you to pm me.

I've got 5 on hand but I'm looking at making 30 of these

Looking good there, have you any plans on what to do with the circle bits on the tops and bottoms of the HB's?

I do not get off the tunb until the 19/20th, but I will have a mooch about. I had planned on keeping my HB for my Heresy stuff magnetised to swap out, but I potentially could have a stack of the modern HB's from sponsons (My 40K preds are Annhilators, so Lascannons all the way, plus I got a few in a job-lot unless my friend raided the box)

I'm thinking to do some cabling going to the sensor array, that would be awesome mate I'm also thinking about the excess sprues from the storm Eagle and fire raptors I could use the Storm Raven servitors cockpit as defensive weaponry aswell

Stick the turret on some tracks give it a servo arm and some guns and it could be a combat servitor, used for patrolling the rad wastes outside the facility (but obviuosly let back in for good behaviour)

Or legs and chunky arms, use it as a charonite/bullgryn counts-as

Tracks may be the best option I can look at the kataprhon (sp?) Mechanicus range good thinking brother I'm definitely interested in this idea.

Maybe give him set patrol protocols but used a scatter to dictate in between the turns which way it heads

Legion Typhon Heavy Siege Tank

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/99590101257_SPACEMARINETYPHONHEAVYSIEGETANK1_zpsoyqgq5bw.jpg

to begin I thought we need an epic soundtrack to have with such an epic model, now once again I decided it best to work on this kit in sub builds now I've covered all of the basis for these chassis and their counter parts. So without further ado lets begin.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160404_123325_zpsgsblbznx.jpg

now gather your components like so

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160404_124621_zpsshi1jid1.jpg

start by building the side plates, this means sponsons and sponson armour.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160404_124624_zps51u1tjrl.jpg

slap together your engine block

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160404_124722_zpsujuwsrms.jpg

attach your main top hull components like so.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160404_124817_zps1obugtew.jpg

and attach the rear block to the bottom hull, next up unlike a Rubix cube we just line it all up.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160404_124953_zpsrq8xzzar.jpg
http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160404_125143_zpsw2ouo9lk.jpg
http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160404_125259_zpsdidawkn8.jpg

so it's really just a matter of lining them up and using enough epoxy and pressure that it sets.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160404_125308_zpsaoyr60we.jpg
http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160404_125405_zpsudexhj1v.jpg

next we dry fit the cannon and attach the bearing pieces on the sides just like the Cerberus.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160404_125522_zpsg2da0vgz.jpg

We then simply slide the engine block I to place and fix it to the chassis.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160404_125617_zpskdnpyjuq.jpg

We then finally add the Armoured surrounding plate and equip the sponsons.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160404_131010_zps5xg0jj2m.jpg

and there you have it, fear not fraters the fear of forgeworld has been conquered due to expendable income!

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160404_131208_zpsyspxxnwz.jpg

and a shot of all 3 Spartan Chassis Tanks for you all!

So overview time... what did I think about the Typhon? It's a simplistic kit especially now the messing with treads is over with but don't mistake simple and easy for boring. I found this to be a delightful kit which shows when forgeworld try they can get it extremely right.

Now I'm off to watch some trashy movies and have a beer, if your lucky I'll post another Review later for you something small maybe.... that's all the hints

With all honesty, I think the AoD has Chaos backed into a corner this year as it currently stands. Really wish I could stand with you guys, but I've already made my decision and as much as I might regret it now, I have integrity, dammit, and I won't be found to have shirked from my commitments.

Well I also am looking at some models in a checkout cart going can I afford to spend another £768?

I'll decide after I get some physio today for my back, ohh and I thought I should announce if etl starts may 15th I'll be in getting plastic surgery to turn my ears into normal people ears so fingers crossed semper starts it on the 5th so I can push my first vow out in 10 days

Unless I'm mistaken, ETL V starts May 1st. I could be wrong, it has been known! laugh.png

Well semper hinted mid May and there was whispers of the 5th like last year or the 15th.... I'd love it to be sooner rather than later but I'll just need a week from the 15th before I will do more hobby work

You can afford it if you let me take some of the pain and I will have some of the resin rolleyes.gif

Since I am still waiting for my damn Deredeo! Another week and they say I can have a replacement as Royal Mail might have lost it :(

@reyner- fingers crossed they send you a replacement and then your first one arrives!! Then you'd have 2 dereddeo. I'll be Fine it's just the headaches I'll be having for a week and a bit may effect my mood and therefore my painting.

@jolemai- maybe there's 1 maybe there's 2 or maybe I'll wait till later in the year when I've not hot as much on to put the time and effort into the bomber and Destroyer variants... I've got a malcadore and 3 leman russ Vanquishers on my desk and im starting to look at my militia and solar auxilia needing more for them

The HH heavy bolter sponsons, do you reckon they could be easily converted to act as marine portable weapons (HB support squad or HB veterans)?

Also what kind of epoxy do you use? Is it the 2 part stuff like Araldite?  I need to find me some elastic bands for the future.

I use regular superglue like loctite, and it is good for getting a fast bond, but I tend to find that the joints are quite brittle & easily broken.

The heavy bolters if given a trigger and maybe a stand like the ones for the cadian Guard heavy bolters would make awesome portable heavy bolters especially if you want something different to tge static pose of the HS squads.

I use a mixture for my epoxies, araldite is in my arsenal but for example the spartans as they are heavy resin components I mix up araldite and then before I press the components (after a dry fit) I add loctite to set it quicker.

I have messed around with tarzans grip but it's not as effective. But usually you can't go wrong with loctite and araldite gives it body and a quick set and should (don't hold me to it) make it less brittle.

Please note I never use heavy epoxies when it's a GW plastic component

Hmmm... I wasn't sure if cutting a bolter down to act as the trigger and grip would work... Anyway fear not, I will hunt down the HB's for you.

I am just thinking of the unused sponson weapons coming in May/Junes order :)

I also hadn't realised you could mix loctitie super glue into the epoxies. I fuguured to use the superglue as a tack weld, then bring the epoxy in to give it a decent bit of strength and proper stuck-togetherness.

Superglue was always my go-to, as I lack the tools to keep something rigged up waiting for epoxy to cure. Now I have my own domain hat will hopefully change post-haste.

Well that's my little trick it's just learning the balance not too much epoxy and just enough loctite to hold. It's sort of like those accelerator sprays for the glue it just adds heat to the curing process and speeds it along.

Legion MkIIb Land Raider; Build

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/99590101149_MK2BPREHERESYLANDRAIDER1_zpsviaiuwrx.jpg

Far out its been nearly a week since my last Review, I must be sick or something... but the question is;

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/JQL6lJt4b7ykZn8NCLcfvwrRTl9l5dnDREoktOPbiEu8LYuiQ6Nii3wPUxV5kuEXRYpIgkG4zww433-h339-nc_zpsrv8t5lxm.jpeg

And the answer is yes I quite certainly do, I also have an upgrade kit from our own resident B&C officianado Subtle Discord and boy does he deliver with his kits, if you haven't already Checked his stuff out click the url ;

http://thedarkworks.bigcartel.com/

Now onto the build and review.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160411_161722_zps2fjq4faz.jpg
http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160411_161814_zpsenlfhzup.jpg

so we start the assembly off like normal, just using plastic glue attach the base and rear engine plates to one side of the hull like so.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160411_162120_zps33v7j2nm.jpg

We then add the roof components note this is also where you put the ramp Doors in.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160411_162301_zpsrtkhjuej.jpg

We then add the other side plate and let it glue and lock into place.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160411_162519_zps2ogj4vgl.jpg
http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160411_162607_zpsg9pvjygr.jpg

We then move onto the sponsons, now I'm not a fan of the little locking plate as my land raiders sponsons now always look sad.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160411_163049_zpsonhirbll.jpg

We then move back to the main tank structure and attach the roof like so.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160411_163159_zpshwt9d3f2.jpg
http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160411_163242_zpsmwvmkfsl.jpg

We then add the heavy bolter and the housing for the weapon.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160411_163358_zpsinktcw6k.jpg
http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160411_163614_zpsk43jrqmi.jpg
http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160411_163643_zpswbueumpu.jpg

like the MkIIb Land raider achillies we simply attach the Armoured plates and sponsons; for a more in depth guide refer to my other builds.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160411_163940_zpstxvh8rel.jpg

We then add the engine exhausts

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160411_165223_zpsyohs4nxu.jpg

final details added we have the MkIIb Land raider in its glory. But wait were not yet finished....

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160411_165409_zpsge3148v9.jpg

here we have Subtle Discords very own incursus mki heavy Siege Ram.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160411_165954_zpsqjsweudc.jpg

it's such an easy Build and looks amazing once installed.

http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160411_170007_zps18azsylt.jpg
http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160411_170012_zpsbqmv5qtf.jpg
http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y524/Taron_James_Beer/Mobile%20Uploads/20160411_171705_zpsj3ygsn9h.jpg

and some more photos of it, this tank now is the perfect ride for my Legate Commander & his cyber Mastiff. Now this kit was a very basic build but with the addition of these extras it gives it an amazing flourish and is a very original centerpiece tank for my Imperial Militia, all I need now is a heavy melta Pintle mounted weapon and it's ready.

We got the big guns for the ETL. Let's see Chaos top this. ;)

Don't forget Chaos can take virtually all the Hh big guns. And will. For chaos!!

Don't fret, buddy. We shall and will do a chaotic ETL hat-trick!

@Kurama: great tuts there, buddy. Thanks!

No problem brother, they could be more in depth like other people's guides but I like to try keep it informal, some people will do it differently so it's more of a guide then set instructions.

It's my small constant contribution I can give to the community, looking forward to seeing you smash out some more stunning miniatures this year! May have to come visit again
