Hmm. Cognis Signum stack with the Logos Lectora BS2?

I actually think it's an okay Rite of War if your army is already built as footslogging?

Nothing can modify Snap Shots unless specifically mentioning it, I don't recall the Cognis mentionning Snap Shots so I don't think it stacks.

On topic of the Logos, we actually had a good chat a couple pages back where we thought that it actually favoured mechanized units.

1) Full march while disembarking from a Rhino is better than full march on foot.

2) BS2 Snap Shots has the same effect as twice the bodies on BS1 Snap Shots

3) Counter Attack has the same effect as doubling the number of guys

You can't spam tanks, but the HQ counting as Infantry Unit per each choice allow you to take some tanks on top of dedicated transports for your units. Which synchronizes very well with the Ultramarines top heavy structure.

The "Limit" of tanks while playing the RoW does make you value those tanks a little more on the battlefield, and their role a little more specifically.

I am a firm believer in that most will use units better if they were bought with purpose and desire rather than a spam worthy bonus.

Sounds a little hippy-ish, but in my local meta at least it always seems the way

Was thinking that perhaps 2 Predator squadrons consisting of 2 Predators each with Lascannon sponsons might be worthwhile. 8 Lascannons and 16 autocannon shots with Tank Hunters...

Even without Guilliman that's pretty good.

They certainly are tactical.

Has anyone run a cropper yet from the Rigid Chain of Command yet?

This has not come into play for me at all, but that's because the Primarch is my warlord - he's not easy to kill.

That rule can potentially be troublesome late game if it comes into play, however.

Not something I would do in more serious games, but correct me if I'm wrong here... with Pride of the Legion we can take Veterans as Troops. Veterans get to pick a Special Rule. For this example let's say they pick Sniper and combine that with Interlocking. So you'd be re-rolling the 1s to wound, and the 6s you roll to wound would clock in at AP2, yes? I haven't done the math but it seems like a pretty good way to engage in some good old fashioned Bolter porn.

That's a nice use of the Ultramarines synergy there! Not bad! Given their Rite of War isn't easy to take advantage of, PotL Vets sound like a great idea...

It was the first thing I thought of when I saw the two rules. ;)

Drive up and dump out marines via rhino, then use the rhino's gun to get a hit. Then use the veteran bolters to unleash hell!

Never buy pistol upgrades except on moritats. They cost way too much for the amount of use you will get.

Example: You buy 1 plasma pistol for your tac sergeant, over the course of the game you will expect 1-2 plasma shots. A plasma shot has a 10 in 18 chance to kill a marine out of cover, or a 10 in 36 chance of killing a terminator. That means your plasma pistol is worth ~ 1 marine or 2/3rds of a terminator in damage output. Of course you upgraded from a bolt pistol which also has a chance to kill things, so its actually less than that, and the plasma costs you 15 points, 33% more than what your are expected to kill over a game.

A better upgrade is a combi plasma on a sergeant, or even better a rhino. You will get 1-2 shots over the course of a game (and more than likely 2 shots) for 10 points instead of 15. If plasma pistols were 5p each, or 18" range I could see their worth, but as it stands they are a fluff/rule of cool/WYSIWYG upgrade.

Yeah normally I wouldn't even ask, but figured it was worth asking for a 200 dollar unit haha, just on the off chance they were worthwhile.

The only upgrade I think might be worth it would be a couple thunder hammers (maximum of 2 in a unit of 10 I think).

Any number can take thunder hammers, and I would suggest 1 in 5 or 1 in 3 take 1. They don't have melta bombs so you are fodder for contemptors and multiwound FNP units (Firedrakes, Red Butchers)

Yeah very true. I am thinking of giving three the hammers in a 10 man unit. Gotta maximize that Legatine Axe love.

They bring ID to kill off FNP and can challenge shield. Sure, it's a 5++, but i've seen an AL Praetor with Preferred Enemy (Headhunters Squad) and their 7 attacks fail to kill a Tac Sergeant in a challenge (thanks to FNP), and taking 2 or 3 S8 attacks are pretty rough.

Apologies if this has come up before and I missed it, but a quick question if I may; the UM-specific Gladius-for-Breachers upgrade, are people reading that as a unit-wide thing only, or is it possible to take a mixed squad? And if it were, what would folk think about a 5 Gladius/10 Bolter split for a Zone Mortalis Breacher unit?
