jimbo13
I'm so excited. Glad to see this project still plodding along. The Suzerian came out perfect, hateful and gritty. BrotherCaptainArkhan
And so, the world turns and comes full circle... He's looking great, can't wait to see what you cook up for us! Cheers mate. Couple big updates coming soon I hope. Doesn't help so much that my collection's split between two countries! Brings a Tear to my eye . Ha, I see what you did there ;) I'm so excited. Glad to see this project still plodding along. The Suzerian came out perfect, hateful and gritty. Loving where this new part of the project will go. Thanks man. Less 'plodding' and more 'swiftly advancing toward a conclusion', now, I think - there's only a couple units left plus a surprise superheavy. I have yet to do proper pictures of the Suzerains, too. That'll change! Just finishing up the weathering and transfers on the Brother-Captain's Land Raider, and then it's on to the Leviathan... Soldier of Dorn
Lovely work on Ashan, brother. I confess, I wasn't really here in the heyday of Survivors of Istvaan, but I have read it a few times, and thus I must ask: might we expect to see a new version of Tyr himself at some point? In any regard, looking forward to the Suzerains, and the Land Raider, and... well, everything really. Keep up the great work! :tu: BrotherCaptainArkhan 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/308809-a-lesser-son-of-greater-fathers-dabbling-in-epic/page/21/#findComment-4722696 Share on other sites

In fact, there might already be a new version kicking around, although I'm not sure it's hit the spot quite. BrotherCaptainArkhan
Another update. I have a fair backlog of updates to post and I guess as it's a quiet Sunday, time to get through a few of them. Rapier Battery Tempestatis got a major upgrade. I built these Rapiers originally to be magnetised, so I could switch between graviton/laser destroyer array/quad mortar as needed (quad heavy bolter never seemed an enticing option really). But...then I played at a friendly tournament against a Sons of Horus army (in fact, the one shown in a recent update) and my opponent had actual Rapier models from Forgeworld, and they are HUGE. In comparison, anyway. So, I based all my Rapiers in an attempt to get them closer to the 'proper' size. They're still not quite perfect, but given that they're supposed to represent pieces scavenged in the field, I'm not too worried. I also sorted out the quad mortar variant. For ages I looked for an actual mortar option for these and just couldn't find anything. So I settled on an MLRS-type firing platform instead, which I'm slightly ambivalent over as it's theoretically more advanced than an actual mortar system; but the end result doesn't look too bad I think. I have another three Rapiers to build, exactly like these, so I guess I better get back to the table... http://i1269.photobucket.com/albums/jj598/Mjolnir771/IMAG2351_zpspmem7ddz.jpg http://i1269.photobucket.com/albums/jj598/Mjolnir771/IMAG2353_zpsdlzekyrl.jpg Dosjetka, Kizzdougs, hushrong and 4 others 7 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/308809-a-lesser-son-of-greater-fathers-dabbling-in-epic/page/21/#findComment-4725632 Share on other sites

BrotherCaptainArkhan
Let honour be your watchword and glory your epitaph. -phrase inscribed on armourial device from the Fall of Armatura ______ It is a long time since I thought of Diocletian. I wonder what he would make of us now, so far from the dreams we once shared. So far from the aspirations we gave voice to in hushed whispers. With ash-black staining our plate and the blood of once-brothers corroding our gauntlets, and the sin of kinslaying weighing heavily on our souls. Would it matter to him that it was not we who struck the first blow in this war? Would it matter that we were the ones who were betrayed, and our trust in a cause greater than ourselves made naught but a beguiling lie, by the actions of those other than we? No. Of course not. And yes. I have not entered all the deeds of the Black One Hundred in this log since first I took up the stylus that now rests in my palm. I have recorded our deeds against those who betrayed the ideal of Pax Imperium, have recorded our shock at the horrors of kin-strife and civil war. I have recorded our victories, and our defeats, and the moments we shared as brothers united by a common cause. I have not recorded the crimes we have committed in order that Macragge might endure, bloodied but inviolate, in a galaxy that has gone mad. I have not recorded the names of those who turned from this dream. I have not recorded the names of those I have killed with my own hands who bore the armour I now wear. I have not recorded the lives that were taken in the night in order that the brotherhood of blue-and-sable warriors I now lead might retain its allegiance to the Emperor of Mankind. I have not recorded the deeds that will damn me for eternity, if ever our tale will be told, if ever this war is finished and Humanity yet endures and men sit by the firelight once more as brothers. I remember another time. A time when the coal-black of my armour did not match the stain upon my soul left by this damnable war. A time when I led men into battle, and those men fought as brothers, and we conquered an enemy that was as inhuman as it was impure. A time when I was Brother-Captain, not Master of the Hundred. I was a warrior of IX Company, VII Chapter, XIII Legion Ultramarines, and we fought to bring another world into the light of Compliance, and out from under the heel of xenotic overlords. I remember. ... Spyral Prime 001.M31 Tertiary Hive Cluster ... ...repeat, contact at grid reference Quintus Gamma Victrix. The greenskins have taken the bait. Primary threat spotted. BrotherCaptainArkhan
Cheers guys. It was a good game, but ultimately a little one-sided as we were playing Ambush, and all the Ultramarine reserves came on the same side of the table the rest of the force attacked - leaving half the Ork force rushing across the board. Divide and conquer. Some more pics of a tangential project coming later tonight, I hope :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/308809-a-lesser-son-of-greater-fathers-dabbling-in-epic/page/21/#findComment-4726987 Share on other sites
