Thanks, man.

Worked on him a bit some more today. There is apparently no such thing as too much trim or too many skulls.

I'm iffy on the chain wrapping the left arm, but happy with the chains hanging on his back.

The chains are a nice touch, but shouldn't the one on his left arm bind his power axe (Daemon axe?) to his hand?

Thank you. It's funny you should ask that about the axe. Initially, I had the chain wrapped around the axe, but I felt like it obscured a lot of the awesome details sculpted into the axe. I'll play around with it some more.

Wow, that Leviathan looks badass, Khorne would be proud. Looked back in this thread and you have some really cool World Eaters conversions!

Thank you very much. :)

Orodruin the Skullgrinder: Lord/Exalted Champion with "power fist"... He was a spur of the moment project. I'm selling my AoS Khorne Bloodbound, but looking at this incredible mini I just couldn't let him go. That being said, I've often complained in the past about the leather boots look, so I had to cut them off and replace 'em with legs from the Dark Vengeance chosen. I think they worked pretty well.

I've got to fix the flexed foot once the green stuff cures, and perhaps sculpt a little trim around the back of his knee joints. Otherwise, I tried to add some guitar string cabling to sorta tech him up and make him believable in the grimdark universe.

Thanks, chappies.

So it begins!

Took a break from studying to spray his armor. Nothing out of the ordinary, just your standard red with brass trim. However, I've decided that long ago this fella was of the Salamanders. After Istvaan and during the heresy, he just tried to survive, and ended up in a warband that ultimately took refuge in the eye. Khorne got his claws in Orodruin, and the rest is (vague) history.

Given the model's look and propensity for smithing, it made sense to me. He's an exalted champion who is dedicated to the crafting of arms and armor for the champions of the war host. His greatest joy is enslaving and binding daemons/warp entities into his creations.

Gonna use Duncan's Salamanders skin recipe. Here's what I got so far:

I'm having an absolute blast with this guy. Just can't get over how great the mini is, and I'm especially pleased withe Salamanders skin tone so far.

I like the dark/reddish brass for the armor trim, but for the chain and anvil I wanted something special. The idea is that as he's forging stuff, he uses different grades and varieties of brass (mixed with blood, souls, etc.) for different purposes. Also, I want there to be some color variety here. Will make his helm crest a different shade of brass entirely.

I found something on ebay, and thought I'd share it with all the Khorne/World Eater specialists on B&C.

your pride is certainly justified, he's glorious. Just make sure you don't fall to slaanesh:) Damn these AoS->40k conversion work so well when the legs are taken care of, i'll probably end up with the whole line of khorne minis and a big pile of legless chaos marines:D

And congrats on the ebay find, that's awesome, makes me wish the modern Lord of Skulls was cooler... Not that this old design was any better honestly hehe.

Edit: oh, didn't realize it wasn't Jugger who posted that. Well, the answer stands:)

Lulz, sculpts have come a long way since that two-wheeled bringer of death.

And thank you. I only wish exalted champs were better on the table. May run him as a lord, too.

As much as I like the AoS sculpts, I guess I'd prefer those bits for characters/champions and such. We need a new CSM infantry kit already!
