UPLOADING... + SECOND and a three quarters WEEKLY UPDATE +

...and my third Vanguard squad takes center board.

med_gallery_8429_11263_123687.jpg

Not too rushed this time, so less to trimming. Mixed up and forgot a few bitz during assemble, but was able to make corrections.

Well, I guess that's it for now... wait, what's that sound? Moving across the table... could it be?

YES! It is! It's my Ironstrider Ballistarii!

med_gallery_8429_11263_6626.jpg

(insert Lone Skitarii Ranger theme here).

med_gallery_8429_11263_91694.jpg

Had some extra time, and it took surprisingly less than a squad's worth to assemble.

It did have some 'trying' moments though.

med_gallery_8429_11263_9516.jpg

Why, oh Omnissiah, why were some bitz really necessary?

Take the 'red' cable above. The other two were on a bit that attached to the inner thigh of the Ballistarii's leg.

Why was the center cable separate? Why? Why?

...and the 'blue' joint plates? Why not be a part of the leg bit? Nottomention they're 'notched' inside to fit only

a certain way. Why, do you torment me Omnissiah? I know, I know... failing the ETL IV. Dang, He's right.

He's ALWAYS right.

So this makes the current tally:

med_gallery_8429_11263_159855.png

All currently vowed models built. Now to clean them up, check for any missed spots, not many barrels to drill -

although I may let them go this round. Hey, 31 models built in a month. That is a record for me.

Thanks for listening to my ramblings. I'll be taking a short break, getting some primer etc, then to the final week's work!

Ciao,

R.

Been sick for a bit, so quite behind where I wanted to be this month. Luckily I still should have enough time to get everything done! 5/10 Horrors are now completed

And working on the Lord of Change's wings, not a lot of work done on him yet but gives a rough idea

http://i1006.photobucket.com/albums/af182/Zujara/Daemons/loc1_zpsn27tf2sn.jpg

NovemberIX: Great looking yellow there, always so hard to make it look nice and smooth like you have!

SW1: Really like the colours you used, they all stand out nice against the dark green

Kurama: That looks great, looking forward to seeing it painted next month!

helterskelter: Very nice work on the super heavy, can't wait to see it weathered!

Rashbold: That is a lot of assembly work!

The serpent stirs...It begins to slither, gliding across the grassy field, little by little. It's target, an unprepared hobbyist, enters view. It coasts over blades of grass, over ant mounds and across a lonely puddle leftover from the previous night's rain. It reaches striking distance. It attacks. It coils up and around the poor hobbyist's neck, and leers into his face. It hisses two words.

"Hydra Dominatus!"

By the grace of Mighty Kurama, Lord and Protector of all, I have changed alliegence. I'll get my first new vow in later tonight.

EDIT:

For this month, I vow the following:

Legion Praetor: 175

-Master-crafted paragon blade, power dagger, iron halo, vemon spheres

Legion Recon Squad: 170

-5x, 4 sniper rifles. nuncio-vox, cameleoline, sarge bolt pistol and chainsword

For a total of 345 points.

Allrighty guys I couldn't help myself so an additional vow before the end of the month;

Legion Praetor totalling 270 points

Bringing my total to 1035/2000

Skitarius selected for colour test:

Primer - Chaos Black

Base - Steel Legion Drab

Layer - Martian Ironearth

Metallics - Sycarax Bronze & Balthasar Gold

I want my Adeptus Mechanicus to stand out from the Martian Red, yet not be too extreme to be unrecognizable. The other forge colours of Metalica, Stygies XII, etc just didn't inspire me. I also wanted to keep a desert look, i.e. faded colours, but then I didn't want them being mistaken for Tau.

Then I thought, "Martian Ironearth". Undeniably Martian. Not too red, not too tan, not too orange. It wins!

The big unknown was if the Martian Ironearth could be layered thinly enough to avoid the 'cracking' effect. Here it is on the model in two thin layers. I may go for a third.

Before assembly-lining my 30+ models, what do you think? It's not complete, I know, but just your general impression.

Thanks,

R.

Here is Helios Four-Six, the callsign for the mysterious commander of the XX Legion Rapid Response Strike Force Theta-Four Cerberus.

Are you going to do a metallic paint job or a flattish blue?

@Kurama:

thanks ^^ blush.png

love both your Jetbike and Assault Marines, great job on them! thumbsup.gif

@Larkyn:

that transverse crest - awesome! what did you use for it? my only little nitpick (for now) are the moldlines, but as this is an early WIP, i guess you already removed them :P

I'm gonna try and salvage some of my day, since I spent it more or less in an unpleasant state (not that I was unpleasant, I just felt as much...)

Last we left off Zujara had made a Lord of Change that I thought was cool, and gave me a Azteca/Mexican Shamanism vibe.

Kurama was making some Assault Marines that might carry around Sam Jacksons Pulp Fiction wallet along with a very angry looking gentleman called iskandar. SW1 had painted up a super smooth looking, Conversion Beamer wielding well converted fellow of an inquisitive nature.

Atia was making me think I need to start considering firebase support for my marines (and how that really is an interesting color shift I think I saw). Larkyn's commander is grade A awesome, and I'm very interested to see it in it's paint scheme. Rashbold has been very busy (but looking good!) Grotty has made some incredible Scars and HelteriSkelteri, the beast is looking good!

I had just finished up the Contemptor-Mortis and started the final touches on the Deredeo. Which has ended up looking like this...

I figured this would be a good time to get a few shots with the Contemptor too, and the rest of it's bipedal war-machine cousins.

Also back to the Power Walking Walker

So with that I just have my fluff piece to write for this month, and I can start prepparing for the next challenge. I'm thinking Rhino chassis, and a Librarian.
