Rossjk's Relictor Space Marines

Like what you are doing very much!

The latest figure is good....but the pose looks awkward....the legs need to be right leg down, left up.

msn-wink.gif

yeah you're right he is a bit awkward that way.. I need to try and find a skull head for my chaplain anyway so i'll see what legs the ebay bit sellers have available when I do the next order...

Zxyogi's right, the legs are the problem, they don't match the rest of the model's pose. The top half looks like he's lunging forward to slug someone in the face but the legs don't convey that motion, they're stood to straight, like he's briskly jogging forward rather than launching himself into an assault, plus they're rather plain and unadorned when compared to the rest of him.

Regarding replacement sets of legs, personally I'd recommend the Mk.4 legs from the Vanguard Veterans kit:

@rossjk - Very nice! The picture gives a glimpse of the left gauntlet too and a mould line on the inside right leg.

In the meantime, I found a new head for my chaplain, a khorne beserker helmet with the bunny-ears shaved off.

not decided which way he should look, open to suggestions - what do you guys think?.... I keep forgetting to drill that gun barrel too....

I'd say go for him looking left, that it looks like he's signalling a charge or challenging an enemy champion. His pose looks odd if he's looking right given how the flail arm is fully extended but away from whatever he's looking at, like he's trying to keep them away from the weapon rather than getting ready to brutalise them with it.

Speaking of the flail, it's meant to be the Artekus Scourge from the lore right? Well, not to put down your conversion (because it's lovely, not enough flails in 40k I think) but if recall correctly the Scourge is a multi-headed flail, rather than a single head like yours. If you'd like to go the multi-headed route I think I've found just the bitz for an easy conversion: http://www.bitzbox.co.uk/product_info.php/dark-angels-deathwing-knights-flail-of-the-unforgiven-p-3609

Cheers for the input -  I'm thinking to the left, but the skull needs to turn to face that way also..

The flail was inspired by the scourge but it's not necessarily the weapon itself. I still need to fill my hq ranks with a termie captain so I might do the multi-headed flail when I eventually build him. Nice find on the bitz Sanguinius

Before I get back into painting I found a use for the spare legs from counts-as-calgar (I need a name!) - my captain with relic blade was too static & squat (back on page 2) so I've put the legs to better use on him:

okay so I've decided - will go with looking left, and turn the skull left also. Thanks for the suggestions!

,,,,and will drill out the chain links along with the bolter thumbsup.gif

also have one more kit-bash I threw together with some leftover parts.. a heretical mashup of leftover scout and power armour just for the fun of it (because renegade chapter). Heck I might even go full-heresy and convert some necron deathmark bits into his rifle devil.gif

I suppose at a stretch he could count-as a vindicare assassin??

@rossjk - Very nice, good idea. You could even put some Space Marine armour Shoulder Pads on him.

Small mould line on the helmet next to optic.

Oh and great Avatar!

Thanks Scion, you're good at spotting those mould lines blush.png

The more I look at him the more he's going to be used as a vindicare.. shoulder pads are getting a bit bulky for that. I'm sure I'll have a spare CCW lying around to put on him aswell.

following with the renegade-assassin theme his rifle has been upgraded using some necron tech for a counts-as 'exitus'. The joining isn't perfect but painting will fix most of that..

Hi Guys,

...Still working hard on my necrons but have taken a quick breather to do an update on the vindicare assassin.. bashed a new head together using a scout visor and tac marine bare head (the one with the breather mask) to get him looking a little closer to GW's vindicares. Also added a power cable to his rifle to get more of that adapted xenos-tech feel to it...

Time for less grey plastic and more painting!!!

I've whipped up a quick progress spreadsheet to keep me motivated. Will have the devastators/heavy weapons done and the tac marines based next. Need to get some green on the chart!
