Oh, they're for the Sons, just cos you'd expect them for the IW :) also, the TS are gonna be the major part of the force so they're gonna get a lot of the cool toys

Just a quick question, did you model that "scale-mail" loin cloth, or did you find bitz for it ? I'm planning on doing some of the scales you see on Perturabo and the Iron Circle models, I just don't really know how to go about it...

Oh, I butchered it from one of my Tomb Guard I had lying around. I didn't have a suitable tabard and it worked nicely :) of course, they're a little hard to find nowadays...

Brief update; I'm getting what's on the painting table ready for this weekend, where I'm gaming as part of an Escalation Campaign. We add 250pts each month. Evidently, the below is greater than 250! We aren't beholden to using the exact same force every month (though most are). It just gives me the opportunity to work through what I've got in my box to paint up!

Here's the (just about) finished phase 4 of the pledge. Finished Siege Breaker in Terminator Armour, Quad Mortar Rapiers, Contemptor and Siege Tyrants. Just need to wash the bases and drybrush over, and paint the Rapier Crew lenses and they're done. They'll be joined by an IW MoS and a Veteran squad in Rhino from each of the two Legions.

 

I'm pondering phase 5 now, which will take us to 1500pts. I'm rather tempted to make it majority Thousand Sons, and add in a third Legion. Eyeing up another Traitor Legion, I'm very tempted by Alpha Legion or the front runners, Emperor's Children. I tried them way back when before my airbrush, so might give them another go. Plus, the models are gorgeous and I'm enjoying their depiction in Path of Heaven. I'll likely add some Palatine Blades for some needed CC punch. Whether the 1500pts will include the Iron Warriors, not sure yet. I've used them for a couple of rounds now so gives me a chance to try something else. The curse of an army that can contain any of the 18 Legions and a terrible lack of decisiveness.

I'll most likely go Palatine Blades and a Praetor. I've got a lot of shooting and fast stuff now, I wouldn't mind something that can chop up marines nicely.

The aquamarine you've used for the scarab iconography is perfect for embellishment on the Thousand Sons scheme and seems to capture the inspiration of Egyptian royalty well.

@DuskRaider - I'm a big fan of Egyptology and that was my thoughts exactly :) I'm eyeing up Hieroglyphics atm, but my freehand skills aren't quite up to that just yet!

And yet, here I am, adding another Legion to my Shattered Legions force. I'm fond of the Ravens and their sneaky stealth-ness and black is a colour I've struggled with before.

Here's my Raven Guard Chaplain, basically Korvydae with a head swap. Looks way more uber-weathered than he is! Next up, I'm working on some more Scars Jetbikes (Path of Heaven REALLY inspired me to get back to these guys) and a squad of Dark Furies.

This is a very good Raven Guard, however it seems I associate skull helmets and crozius arcana with chaplains too much because he doesn't look like a chaplain at all to me. Just a regular Raven Guard centurion or praetor.

I was really under the impression that the Crozius and skull helms were more of a 40k thing. Certainly the Chaplain in the Calth box doesn't have a skull helmet and I always thought they were probably a little more unassuming back in the day (as it were). And I gave him a Thunder Hammer because the way my force is comprised, I could do with something that can pack a punch. And it looks cool :-)

Skull Helms definitely are, since they are supposed to represent the Emperor's sacrifice for humanity or something. However the Crozius already exists according to the army list, only they can have different forms (not just the maces)

 

But as you say, he looks very cool

 

I like the Gold cords as well, they show a certain level of rank in a way

Chaplains don't need to wear skullmasks in HH-era forces, I think some still might, to differentiate, but it's really not as strictly codified as in 40k...

Here's what I've been working on for the escalation campaign I'm taking part in. Painted an RG chaplain, 5 Dark Furies and 3 Jetbikes to round the squad out to 6 men.

 

Looking at what to add next now for my Shattered Legions. Some extra bits for my Thousand Sons and I think some Raven Guard assault marines.
