DietOfLiquor
How would one go to represent the dreadwing? I'm looking into it for a friend and would like some feedback! So far we got a legion glaive, destroyers, maybe a leviathan... But troops wise, would would be the better option to represent this army?
Allart01
Just wait. A Row will sure come out, like the Ravenwing and Ironwing ones that we actually have.
Charlo
Yep. Deathwing Veterans / Terminators will no doubt be a thing come book 8/9.

Dumah
I wonder what the Firewing is, aerial formation or something? I assumed it was something to do with... fire? Maybe a template-for-Salamanders type of deal.
shandwen
Most likely the six wings are all proto-versions of other legions. Firewing is probably proto-salamanders.
Charlo
Perhaps, though that would be a little niche. Assuming they are all proto Legions is technically incorrect. Its more that as the first and only Legion, the DA had to be ready to do EVERYTHING. So they had the resources to do so. Ravenwing isn't just fast bikes and flyers, it's also thier spy, recon and somewhat torture & interrogation devision. Also the small detail we know about Firewing is that one of the troopers was called a lancer. So something that hits fast with a long reach. I do not claim that it is much more than a theory at this point, but we did see deathwing act in a manner similar to deathguard, and seeing how everything was tested by the first legion it isn't a stretch to imagine it being the basis for the legion "types". Charlo
Ironwing Cortus Contemptors with Heavy Conversion Beamer and Twin-linked Lascannon seem like a pretty awesome thing because of the Tank Hunters. Twinlinked and large blast mitigate the loss of BS and standing back for range means that you are identical to a regular Contemptor defensively with AV13 5++. You get 3 for just under 600 points. Predators are cheaper, but less easily deployed and a lot less survivable due to being in Squadrons and having no 5++. They also gain no real benefit from BS5 with HCB and lack the Tank Hunters Dreads get. Another alternative is use the HCB for hitting Infantry, in which case pairing it with a Volkite Culverin will not only look awesome, but also add to the pew pew. Plus at Medium Range - S8 Blast and S6 Culverin shots with Tank Hunters will decimate light AV. It also stops the overlap with Vindicator Laser Destoryers, which will no doubt be the Premier Tank Hunting force in any Ironwing list getting 3 S9 AP1 BS5 Twlin Linked Ordnance shots each a turn for a very competetive price in points O.O Edited July 11, 2016 by Charlo
Charlo
No one biting at that? :'( Well here is another fun little Ironwing trick. Sniper Vets with plasma repeaters, always wound anything on a 3+ with 6's being AP2. Four - Six of the shots are AP2 and twin linked. Only a 6" range on the repeaters sure, but twin-linked ensures more hits anyway. Happy Thanatar Hunting. Bonus: use psychic support to give them endurance for relentless and 4+ FNP and get lots of fun plas-spam. Edited July 14, 2016 by Charlo

But Ironwing rules mean you get +1 to wound on all Rapidfire/ Salvo/ Pistol weapons within 12" (but with the caveat of S5 or less I now realise, so won't affect the repeaters, so they are limited to a 4+) and the bonus does apply to sniper, FW confirmed it so. Capahractii no longer has SnP and hasn't for a long time. Runefyre 1 Back to top
Sanct
Sniper only wounds on a 4+. Maybe attach a centurion with TDA to grant SaP for guaranteed 12" range/3 shots. You can wound better than 4+ with sniper. You get +1 on the roll due to exterminators (effectively 3+ but actually 4+ with +1 on the die result). Cataphractii no longer has SnP. All thanks to the FaQ bah: ninja'd! Edited July 14, 2016 by Sanct Runefyre 1 Back to top

Lord Blackwood
So if your going to take javelin attack speeders how would you kit them? I'm thinking about running a few with my ravenwing.
Charlo
Seeing as Jetbikes can take acid shells or Culverins they have infantry covered. MM, Cyclone and two Hunter Killer is the way forward!
Charlo
With the rules for LoW tanks that don't exist already, anyone else think the Stormsword is the perfect way to represent the Void Shell super heavy? Main gun seems suitably " YOU" from it's power... Plus being DA having a Sword in the name is just too good.
