In what sense? The rules give you a boost over other legions in terms of assault, it's what you could have expected from blood angels. Their rules aren't any less expansive than the dark angels, the theme you chose for your army is just relatively counter intuitive given your choice of legion

Not counterintuitive, he just wants a different flavour to his legions, perfectly normal :)

I think my major gripe with the Blood Angel Rite of War is the pile of Tactical marines, Seekers and Destroyers i just finished who are better off using the generic legion rules...

On the bright side, destroyers will be wounding other marines on 2s the turn they charge! Makes them way more useful than in other legions

DA destroyers will hit in cc on 3+, wound on 3+ (first round), and if they can take stasis shells will strike first (first round) smile.png

BA will hit on 4s, wound on 2s. DA only strike first if they can get a wound through with the pistols.

Blood angels rules seem good to me, Especially as they are essentially a place holder until Forge World get round to doing them properly. If they prove to be underwhelming Forge World regularly change the rules!

Thanks for all the updates. Cant wait for the book to be released.

Could we get a shot of the Vindicator Squadrons rules.

Any new rites of war for the Imperial Fists (getting Jealous of the amazing Iron Warriors one!)

Drop Assault is in fact perfectly in keeping with the Blood Angel ethos, what annoys me is the arbitrary link to Melee weapons rather than just a flat bonus like every other legion rule. Even ones like the Ravenguard get exceptions and alternates for things like Terminators. Even something like furious charge if you lack a melee weapon or an option to swap bolt pistols for Close combat weapons would be nice. As it is the Angels both have monothemeing issues to an extent, which sucks compared to especially the last batch of legions!

I don't understand - what pistols have to do with striking first?

BA RoWs

Ok will post some stuff. Remove if necessary. Blood angels LA rules basically gives +1 to wound with melee weapons.

They can take hand flamera and inferno pistols instead of voltike and plasma. May take new blade with ap 2 master crafted twohanded and wounds are doubled.

RoW one gives jump infantry auto arrive deep strike turn one, inf and jump inf gain pinning when arriving by deep strike with ranged weapons. Charging units gain +1 initiative and must challenge.

Alt RoW cant be pinned and stubborn near obj or in deploy zone. If win assault enemy -1 ld for morale check, if half force destroyed gain 5+ fnp until game ends. Units under half strength cant score and no vp and always sweep

.

@lordthorn: no i completely understand wanting to do your own thing with your army. Noserenda has a clear theme in mind for his force and one of the benefits if the legions being so large is that you can explore more specialised formations and what not.

What i didn't understand was that it sounded like a complaint about forge world not making rules to suit his theme when i actually feel they represent the blood angels as a whole very well.

@Noserenda: i didn't notice the link specifically to melee weapons. How weird!

Sorry, missed it was a grenade launcher option - still have to wound with it I assume?

There isn't much that doesn't benefit from the BA legion rule.  Tactical squads without the free swap, Breachers,  Support and Heavy Support squads, Reconnaissance squads without the free swap and Seekers.  Basically stuff that you wouldn't want in combat anyway.
