A Blade once broken, Is reforged. (Terminator Scheme Redux)

I am not a fan of half/half so I am against the idea sad.png Sorry Major sad.png.

That's all right, don't worry - we'll think of something else then! ;)

Thinking along those lines, but being mindful of your scheme preferences, what about white arms and shoulderpads? Other chapters do similar things with just one arm/shoulder, but having both could symbolise the more "hands-on" approach the 1st company takes with the Fallen - the bone white symbolising purity despite the "unclean" nature of the Fallen. Likewise, having bone white helmets could symbolise purity of thought, and could be a nice way to link the Veterans to the the Terminators if both have bone helmets as well.

How about something like this?

Edit: Woops. It looks like I practically copied your earlier marine. Seems like we have similar views =P

Edit 2: I would go for the inverted scheme, because the rest of your army is red. But since you stated that you want to paint bone, I would go for this option.

I sent the same to you as a PM but I can post it again here for everyone.

You can also use a local festival or custom as the inspiration tied to Sandhofen. I am seeing a lot of festival of the dead things on TV tied to halloween but there is also some cultures that paint their bodies as either camouflage or to tell a story.

Marines are supposedly immortal now until they are killed in combat but they could follow up a ritual where on a day of the dead, the Elders would be painted white using the ash of Sandhofen's volcano to represent the dead at the festival. In a symbolic way, they are the link between the living (and young) and the dead. While the Dreadnoughts would be a better personification of the link, the most Veteran troops would represent the Elders for the Chapter as they would remember many of the fallen warriors.

The camouflage angle would also use Sandhofen and take a page from the Salamanders, as a part of trials or quest to becoming a Veteran. There is something they either have to find (weapon or their Terminator Armor) or hunt on the volcano (reminiscent of the hunt for the Chaos Beasts on Caliban). The volcano is still active and dusts the area with ash, as a consequence the marine will become white under the ash fall or would use the ash to disguise himself as he hunted.

I'll try to think up a couple other ideas unless one of these will do.

OK I think I am happy with that.

I have been looking up death rites for Germanic tribes not found much, my chapters hierarchy is based on Teutonic Knights.

I like your idea GMB I could try working that in with the burial ideas... The logical thing would be for me to burn the dead on a pyre, which can be linked to Germanic Tribes, not so sure with the Teutonic Knights.

Did the Knights in the crusades burn or bury the dead?

Ok

Burn the Dead, Ashes are stored in the helmets of the Dead, which is in the mausoleum of the dead in the Reclusiam of the Leviathan. Like the ancient heathens of old earth once a year the Chaplains would anoint the 1st Company Veterans with the ashes of their fallen brethren that year.

GMB would Brun do something like that?

Did the Knights in the crusades burn or bury the dead?

They were placed in stone tombs. They did burn people though, they just weren't quite death yet.

Nice scheme Arkley. Too bad no one ever goes for the coloured knuckles laugh.png

Edit: spelling

I am going to do a test I will include that, I just missed it when I did that one.

Seems like I'm confusing the Teutonic Order with the Templar Order. Can't find any rituals about them, so it would be either Templar customs or Germanic customs.

Yeah I struggled too maybe my google skills suck today.

I think I will go with the Heathens of Old, sort of thing, ashes hold power its one of the few mystical things the Chapter believes.

I don't think the Teutonic Knights did until the times of the Bubonic Plague and even then I don't think so as burial was the method of Christians with the pyres being used by the "pagan" groups like the Germanic tribes.

Brun would absolutely be involved but it would not be exclusive to him. Company chaplains would perform the rites when they are away or when it is for their brothers.

Using the mausoleum idea, the First can have an alternate mission in being the protectors of the halls of fallen heroes/brothers. This now ties the white scheme more closely. This could also be the domain of the Reclusium and the unattached Chaplains would also Guard and protect the halls and from time to time hold a sermon for the fallen and regale the dead with tales of the living.

The Censers that the DW Knights typically carried could then carry the ashes of fallen heroes with the righteousness of the those that had fallen before adding their power to the marine as he smites his foes.

I would be careful with anything specifically singling out just the hands or feet to be a different color. I did that with my Stoneburners on the feet with the bone, and I can never not see Sneakers the Teminator now (really got to get that guy repainted). ;)

Definitely don't need another Sneakers or a new guy, let's call him Gloves, the Terminator. :D
