What Talent/Skill did you have in mind?

I'm thinking Evaluate. Or, if not, Literacy +10. Your call, brother. msn-wink.gif

OK, here's the deal. You gain the Evaluate Skill but in exchange you must write a piece of fluff about how you gained this skill AND you must include a reason why you got cursed during the acquisition of this skill. The curse is very real and translates as me being able to replace any one of your rolls with a single critical failure roll at any point during the game. So that we don't forget it, you'll add the Cursed Trait to your character profile.

This is a take-it-or-leave-it deal. No negotiating.

I'm hoping there is such a thing as a torture mechadendrite. Although I suppose any mechadendrite could be a torture mechadendrite if you praise the Omnissiah hard enough tongue.png

Obviously a lot to go, but the barebones are here:

*snip*

I'll admit that I was expecting you to send this to me via PM so that we can flesh it out between the two of us before posting it here because as it now stands, we have half-finished character profiles littered all over this thread... Ah well. ;)

Quirk: You have a chronic, hacking cough.

lump of your own mummified flesh (memento)

Possibly one of his lungs? laugh.png

Hey,

I've gone back and removed and/or spoilered all of my contributions to make the thread a little more concise. Are you planning to use the Google Drive - is this something the players will be able to edit, or is it all up to you? (Or reliant on us emailing changes to you?)

Would you recommend we eventually print out a copy of our character sheets for reference, tracking wounds and such?

I'm on my phone at work so I'll make this short: Deal. :tu:

Mol: hm, I should have made it clearer. The character sheets will be displayed in the first post of this thread Datafile Library. Only I will be able to edit these and they will be updated at the end of each session/game. The Google Drive will be accessible to both the GM and players, and will be used to track wounds, used fate points, etc. To make things easier and clearer, each player will be responsible for keeping their character file on Google Docs up-to-date. Lastly, I suggest you each keep your own copy of your character sheet that you update at the end of each session/game.
It's important to note that whatever happens, the profiles I update will be the ones we will fall back to if something is amiss.

Olis: I think I should just make sure you understand that this is a one-time curse. It hits you once and that's it. It might make you go completely insane as a consequence but it'll only happen to you once. msn-wink.gif

Like I've said before: Boolean lives by the dice. Game on. I will update my character's profile and provide a fluff piece soon. :D

Is this group full? I'm interested in the concept and Dark Heresy as a gaming system.

Edit: sorry, I misread. I thought it said six open slots, but now I realize it is full.

Fear not brother, there'll be plenty of chances to join a game in the near future, I believe. :)

Mini update: I haven't been very active here these past couple of days due to being busy with a couple of real life issues. However, as soon as I wake up tomorrow, my whole day will be used to prepare the scenario, finish off copying the character sheets, setting up the Google Drive folder, prepare the first post of this thread with all the relevant OOC information, write the introductory post for the in-character thread, etc. Busy day in sight but I'm excited. :) And if all goes to plan, I should be able to start our campaign tomorrow evening around 18:00 GMT.

If any of you have any questions or wish to make any changes, now is the time to do it! If you're around tomorrow during the day, we can even arrange a Skype call or something so that we're more efficient than goig back and forth with PM's. Just let me know of that's something you'd want/need. :)

Good point. I was going to do this during the scenario but if we can gain a bit of time by doing it now, we'll do it now.

Everything that has an availability of Average or below is available for purchase at the prices indicated in the core rulebook. For anything that's Scarce and above, unavailable for now.

OK, two more things:

1) I changed the campaign name slightly; it bothered me that the names of the only two DH campaigns here were so similar.

2) I've updated the Google Drive folder so that you can edit the documents and keep them up-to-date. Please go over them between now and tonight to make sure that there are no mistakes in them. [Linky]

The arms store merchant grinned at the bag of Thrones the tin-head placed on the counter. Everything in the shop today had "fallen off" a Munitorum cargo container. Everything sold was pure, sweet honey in the pot. And it was 100% profit at the normal, every-day trade prices! Why he had never thought of doing this sooner was beyond him. Sure, the Arbites might find out, but he sincerely doubted that. The container had been sitting in the starport for months amongst all the rest of the stuff that had been "lost".

Cursed Evaluation

On the Templum steps, just a few short years after Boolean joined the Binary Brotherhood, the frontiersman looked at the tech-priests expectantly. He had traveled from beyond the other side of the capital, from the hinterlands, to find out what this thing that he had paid good money for was. The senior tech-priest, Brother Corcorvant, analysed the piece swiftly using his cranial augmetics and passed it to Boolean. This was going to be his first experience in using the skills and information inloaded into the junior tech-priest's cortex. He turned the artifact over in his hands and made his judgment.

The item itself was not of human manufacture. There were no human-known alloys or ceramics contained within the artifact - a gauntlet - and Boolean could even detect trace remnants of xenos tissues within the fingers. The outer shell was likely not manufactured for combat, and therefore was not sturdy, even with its hard outer skin.

"Brother Prismatica," rumbled his tutor, "speak your recommendation."

"Conclusion: Xenos Artifact, secundus grade. Recommendation: Destroy the piece immediately."

"Agreed."

The farlander stared at Boolean dumbstruck. So much savings wasted and now the cog-boys that he had banked on selling the gauntlet to didn't even want it. He was not going to throw away something so valuable. He asked for it back. He demanded it.

"Negative." Said Boolean. "We shall expunge the xenos artifact." As he said this, two things occurred: He himself crushed the glove, shattering the brittle thing with but squeeze of his hand... and the frontiersman drew an autopistol. While the pistol did go off, the shots never went anywhere near Prismatica or Corcorvant. Brother Corcorvant, meanwhile, extended a mechadendrite with a snap and doused the aggressor with flaming promethium. The frontiersman crumpled and fell not long after. The senior tech-priest impassively watched the body blacken and burn through many light-spectra. It was more of a distraction than anything else.

What was not immediately noticed, by Boolean or Corcorvant, was the viral transmission of a software fragment into Boolean's cortex through his haptic implants. One that was very good at hiding. Not good enough to avoid causing Boolean to make a diagnostic of several implants it had passed through but certainly had a knack for shying from direct detection. The nature of it mimicked the surrounding code where it settled, blending in seamlessly - undetectable to all but the most accomplished code-maker. There it would lie, safe from destruction until it became time to migrate again.

Smoke drifted from the body, the tang of burnt flesh filled the air. A pair of servitors lifted the body, taking it to the reclamation plant in the Brotherhood's Templum. If nothing else, the corpse starch would be useful nutrition that was hard to come by in this part of Kandrahl Tertius. The brothers turned and made their way back inside, no other visitors were due today.

Hey, the link you've posted here goes to a blank character sheet. Is this (which you posted earlier) the correct link? Talon's sheet isn't there, but I am in the midst of putting together a new version (since you gave me permission for the Moritat upgrades and such.)

In terms of my 133 Thrones:

Daggered Vambrace - +100 (As we discussed)

Stummers - +25

Shabby Pilgrim's Robes - +8 Thrones

I will email you my updated character sheet shortly.

Olis: Fine work! And yes, you can re-do your purchases.

Mol: I haven't been able to type in your character sheet onto one of the Excel sheets I'm using, so that'll be posted later on today. But yes, the link is the correct one. No need to panic. ;)

Olis: Fine work! And yes, you can re-do your purchases.

Sold my flak vest for a tenth the cost - I can't remember what selling values are in this game, so let me know if I was underselling it - and bought some flugs with most of the remaining cash, leaving me with two coins left.

The day had been most productive. On a routine visit to the market, he had discovered a merchant selling items that bore the serial code of having been from a Departmento Munitorum cargo container that had never reached its intended destination and so had been reported to the local Arbites Precinct. The merchant, having been found guilty of Theft of Administratum Property, had been subjected to field interrogation, followed by a field judgement of execution for crimes against the Adeptus Terra. He had passed on the fruits of his interrogation to the precinct house, so that they may retrieve the rest of the items from the missing container when able. He may now formally be in the service of the Inquisition, but he was still an Arbitrator, and it gave him no small amount of satisfaction to render judgement on this wayward soul, in a manner that followed the teachings of the Lex Imperialis to the letter. He would not be found guilty of abstractionism. He would prove that he was still capable as an Arbitrator.

With this infraction of law dealt with, he returned to the market and purchased items, the provenance of which had been carefully verified to ensure no breakage of the law, that he believed would be of service to him in his new role.

Items purchased:

Backpack: 10 Throne Gelt

Dataslate: 25 Throne Gelt

Flak Helmet: 25 Throne Gelt

Total: 60 Throne Gelt

Remaining: 3 Throne Gelt

Sorry Olis, but you tempted fate when you mentioned the merchant's illicit acquirement of items.
