It’s been 1 year into my guard army, I still remember dragging my small family up a long hill in the heat of summer to find a GW store whilst we were on holiday. Turned out it was their lunch time so we had to wait a little. They opened back up early just for us and that’s when I spied the lovely Cadian army painted in their display cabinet. I quickly found the start collecting box for Guard and bought it, they gave both my daughters a free mini too! (Sisters and a space marine). I could not wait until the holiday finished so I could get back and paint them. Fast forward one year and I have amassed an army, today I paraded all the painted ones.

Enjoy your guard armies fellow officers.

Decided to see how easy it is to Re-base my HWT’s to a 50mm base - this was trail (it was not to more effort and the minis took not damage). I like the new smaller base size - looks better on the battlefield and packs more squads into my carrying cases.

@TCCI like that!

I like it when people think about logistics etc (one of the reasons I'd love an Atlas). Would make a great objective for narrative games too.

As for me, I've just re-enlisted with the Guard starting with the old Kasrkin Sergeant (I love the pose, he'll lead one of my squads or maybe even act as the task force's Commander) and am currently looking at some Valkryies.

I heard there were aircraft limits now? I appreciate there will be a new Codex but I'd love three Kasrkin squads in Valkryies as part of my force.

Unfortunately this is true. 2 flyers in a 2000pt game. There is a slim chance the new IG codex makes them exempt to this rule given their primary transport function but no leaks in that yet.

If you don't take any of the FW fliers it's not too limiting, but you won't be able to do a full air cav.

@duz_ Thanks for the info, saves me trying to pick up three off the bat.

I'm hoping to do mech guard with Valkryie Kasrkin support as I loved the theme in "Cadian Blood" (admittedly only one Kasrkin squad as far as I remember) and want to do something similar (even down to wanting autocannon Chimeras but sadly the turret isn't made anymore and the Chimera kit is still in stock but who knows?).

Playing a escalation league. Lots of newish players so i'm having fun and building a narrative list each week with changes reflected from the previous battle. Weeks 1, 2 and prep/list building for 3. I'm better at 40k than I am creative writing, lol

A vostroyan baneblade got separated in the city and a detachment of Lambden Lions were dispatched to bring the tank back and the commander to face punitive action for incompetence. Encountering an enemy baneblade and a force of guardsmen many times their size, between the superior firepower of the Lambden Lions and the baneblade being able to get punitive damage into the enemy baneblade first, it helped carry the day.

The lambden lions continue to slowly escort the vostroyan baneblade back to base. Down 1 gun truck but now with air support in the form of a Valkyrie roaming overhead. They were set upon by space wolves from all sides. The Valkyrie was able to drop in a melta squad and erase a dreadnought but not before it gunned down 6 of the advancing lions. A QRF air drop was able to put 2 plasma squads into place and removed intercessors and tore down a heretical banner raised by the space wolves. They were quickly set upon by blood claws and the banner raised anew. A unit of bladeguard was able to pounce on a low flying Valkyrie and crash it. The vostryan baneblade, although crippled was able to get through their transhuman physiology and kill them all.  The procession of Lions continue their quest to return the baneblade to base.

With the baneblades slow return to base, the Lord Commisar takes matters into his own hands. He begins by dragging an Enginseer from the motor pool and taking a platoon of cadians to go find the Lions and the Emperors Baneblade. The Lions are chopped up. The refractor field is dieing and ammo is in low supply.  Only the tempestor prime and single squad and gun truck remain.

Finished up a couple of IG audiobooks recently.

Outgunned - a propagandist tells the tails of an ork invasion being held off by some pilots. Decent, reminds me of Double Eagle, but the caricatures of the pilots feels a bit over the top. That aside its an interesting perspective and gets more interesting as the plot thickens. Would recommend.

Volpone Glory - a spin off from the GG series. I was excited about this one, unfortunately for me the 15hr audiobook was a slog. It felt like War and Peace, meets Cpt America and Apocalypse Now or something. My recollection of the Vopones from the GG series, was despite being arses they were solid troopers. This book portrays them as anything but and for me bordered on the absurd. I slugged through while doing chores and hobby, the best parts for me come to the last hr or so of the novel. I don't know if it was the audiobook format, or what, but I really struggled to keep all the characters together and what their motives were. Unfortunately, would not recommended.

The logistics corp is getting a workout as they start delivering the first new Deathstrike missiles to the FoB of the Guard in time for the new Codex. A small party was there to receive the shipment and honour the valiant troops who transported them.

That is a beautiful scene to behold. Absolutely love the Cargo 8s with Astra Militarum crew and livery. Great stuff, kudos.

very nice vanquisher.

I am thinking about getting 2 Russ's to start. 1 Dorn whenever that comes out. right now I am waiting to see when stuff is going to get released.

I need a mega amount of troops. Kasrkin, Dorn, maybe some Roughriders. Lord Solar.
