Those models are very good but that board is really something else.

 

Thanks pal! I'm currently waiting on a delivery from Sarissa Precision of laser etched MDF to tile the floor...

 

so tempted to true scale my army now.... this is a really awesome thread.

 

do it! or... have me do it for you!

Damn...that looks awesome

 

That is an absolutely incredible looking board, mate. The simple scale of it gives me the same feeling as Khazad-dûm in the LotR films. Amazing work.

 

A truescale tutorial definitely sounds good too!

 

I love that board. Makes me wish I had that kind of hobby endurance and storage space, lol. Everything about this project continues to be awesome. Happy I played some tiny part in the inspiration for it.

 

Thanks guys! The scale of it is quite daunting sometimes, but I'm chipping away at it little by little. I ordered two Lion toys from amazon today to act as statues either side of the stairs. Now I just need some braziers for the bottom of the stairs...

 

We're very lucky to have a shed where I can beaver away at this!

 

The tutorial will be finished by the weekend I think, I've got a Red Scorpion commission on at the moment, and they'll form the final part of it.

 

As for some pics, we've got something from R's desk, he's done two Vultures as a commission, and they're stunning.

In other news: I finished a Red Scorpion commission today. I had great fun doing these, was left with a very open brief (must have plasma cannon, must have power sword serg with bare head and helmet on belt)

I like how simple your truescaling is. How would you approach terminators and standard dreadnoughts? Do you intend to increase the size of tanks? If so will you be making larger cupolas? What is the mixture ratio of blue to yellow for your greenstuff?

Thanks man. Simplicity was key because I'm not that talented at sculpting. I know my limits and I work to them!

 

Terms have presented an issue. Cataphractii are easy. I do them the same way, and they don't need GSing at the waist. 40k terms, I just tend to smooth out the back recesses. Which is cheating, but its the back. Who cares??

 

Dreads are massive already, and I don't do too much to them. I might add 1cm at the waist sometimes, but it depends on the pose. I'll post up a 40k dread I did at some point. Contemptors don't need scaling at all.

 

Tanks... I just leave them. Wayyyy too much bother. They tend to look just fine, especially big ones like Spartans and Land Raiders.

 

I'm actually going to sell a 40k Battle Company that I scaled up a few years ago. I'll post up photos of the terms and dread when I take them for ebay.

 

As for an update... The Night Lords have some reinforcements in the wings... Basically we all realised that Cata Terms are the bomb, and chainfists totally feth Spartans.

 

So he's done some terms (didn't scale the legs because of reasons (the rest of us do)) but I believe he's put a spacer at the waist. He's magnetised the arms too!

R has almost finished the Knight Acheron I built (and magnetised) for him. The dread on the base is a bit of an escalation from when L put a Salamander under his dread.... Next stop, Alpha legion Warhound stomping on Salamander Knight?
