Hi there, long time lurker first time poster. I'm from a Viking City in Ireland so I'm very attracted to Space Wolves, particularly their more brutal viking aspect rather than the cartoonish wolf aspect. Here is the beginning of my 30k Vylka Fenrika. These guys are not the happy nie guys of 40k. These are the killers of legions sent to eradicate the Enemies of the Emperor. When they are unleashed on prospero the streets shall run red with blood and the rivers black with ink.

Here is my test mini.

I got impatient and messed up the face. I'm going for a darker armour colour and would rather have a white and black style fur than the usual brown. Wolves after all have fur this colour

Here is Sytrygg Silkbeard, my chaplain

He is not the over all leader of my wolves. That honour goes to Aeldwulff "The Earthling". One of the last remaining Terrans in the legion Aeldwulff achieved distinction during the end of the Unity wars and during his involvement in the purge of the <Redacted>. However his star grew dim after the legion found its Primarch and he subsequently failed to distinguish himself. He frequently found himself in conflict with the more feral Fenrisian brothers, and his progression was harmed by close ties to the first legion and the <Redacted>. Records for his actions after the heresy are non extant.

Aeldwulff will be modelled with the legion praetor with the blade of his spear swapped for Krom Dragongaze's axe head. I will be swapping his head either for an Empire Swordsmans head (the one with the scarred eye and mustache) or for one of the Wolf scout heads on the space wolf sprue. I think I personally prefer the Swordsmans head but the Wolf Scouts head looks objectively better.

Can I ask you where those hand with the torches come from? They look rather small are the Empire Flagellants maybe?

P.S.: I´m a little amused that you go for scary, ruthless killers and name your wolfpriest (did they have wolfpriests at that time?) "Silkbeard".laugh.png

So, I think that face looks kind of awesome. What's the recipe you used?

I used the starter pack skin paint (can't remember what its called) covered with a brown wash then highlighted with kilev flesh and finally kislev flesh mixed with screaming skull. I changed the colour of the wash subsequently to purple and got better results

I think so, They came from a batch lot of parts which included many Flagellant parts

Silkbeard was a real viking. He lead the vikings at a huge battle near my home town.. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sigtrygg_Silkbeard

Okay. Well I guess he was so such a b-a, he could be a king called silk-beard and no one dared to laugh about it, then.

I didn´t know that vikings got to Ireland, too, just knew about England, Lindisfarne, William the Conqueror and all that.

Yep. I'm from Dublin a Viking City. The monks used to build round towers to escape from them and hide their treasures. There is an imitation round tower just outside my window which is the Grave of an Irish hero. As a result we were taught stories of the viking raiders coming in school. My image of them is coming, beating women, burning towns taking slaves and stealing religious treasures. As a result the Earthlings Rout will have taken many Schlabhai to toil in their ships during the attack on Prospero and destroyed many sites of learning. The rivers ran black with ink and the streets red with blood.img_0217.jpg

Here is a quick and dirty pic of the Earthling. He's not actually assembled yet, for ease of painting. This is why he looks like he has severe spinal problems at the minute. He's very much a WIP

Awesome work man I've often thought of the 30k wolves exactly like you're describing them vicious feral warriors who serve as the emperors headsmen, I also really like the use of authentic Viking warriors names. You could totally do up some sisters of silence as your valkyries. Oooh the possibilities

Brother Inquisitors,

The Heresy has ended. To insure that we never again see treason from the legions. I propose stricter supervision of those legions to ensure they never waver. Remember until one minute before he fell Horus himself was beloved in the sight of the Emperor.

Below are appended the results from the investigations of one of my associates into the Emperors own executioners, the VI Legion.

Pictos of Aeldwulff "the Castleburner" aka "the Earthling".

Brother Praetor Aeldwulff of the 6th legion.

Also known as "the Castle Burner" "the Earthling"

Place of birth: Terra, Nord Europa.

Current whereabouts: Unascertained.

Known quotations, observations or remarks: Obedientia Civium Urbis Felicitas "The obedience of citizens is the happiness of a city"

Precis of Evidence

One of the older Terrans in the Legion, the Castle Burner's star shone bright during the Unification wars. It has dimmed considerably since the Legion was reunited with its Primarch. Initially distinguishing himself during sieges during the Legion's purge of the {REDACTED BY ORDER OF THE EMPEROR} he there earned the honorific "Castle Burner" and developed his own heraldry of three burning castles. He was slow to adapt to the wilder, more savage tactics favoured by those of Fenrisian origin, and he failed to earn much favour with his Primarch due to his formality. He became referred to behind his back, and later openly ,as "The Earthling" (From Old Fenrisian for Terra). It was even claimed by some of the newer intake that he should have been recruited into the first legion. He is, however, known to have acquitted himself well during the battle of Prospero, where his packs destroyed many blasphemous places of learning and carried off much plunder.

His fell further in the eyes of the Fenrisians during the Battle of Sulcoit. There, whilst drawing up battle lines to prepare for siege, some of his troops lead by Boru "The Bloodclaw" broke ranks and charged the enemy against orders. To add insult to injury this took the defenders by surprise and broke them, obviating the need for siege and capturing many schlabhai. An honour duel between both Astartes was fought to determine who was  pack-Alpha. Aeldwulff retained his position, but the duel is reported to have cost both an eye. Bloodclaw carries much favour in the legion and his honorific is fast becoming a byeword for impetuousness. It is even reportedly beginning to be used to refer to younger, wilder, Astartes who behave in a similar fashion.

Aeldwulf's current whereabouts are unknown. Even for one of the more savage legions this is unusual for an Astartes of his rank. This leads to the troubling conclusion that it is not just the traitor Primarchs who purged their legions of Terrans that failed to adapt to new ways.

Some WIP shots of my chaplain. Over all I'm happy with how the mk3 helmet turned into a skull helm. Its not perfect but for table top its fine.tg52sv4sbdkx.jpg

I am thinking of doing the armour in the traditional black and the cloak in armour grey.

I also want to do a kill team using my minis. Any suggestions? I'm leaning towards using them as a squad of Grey hunters.

Further update on my chaplain. I wish the Burning of Prosepero had come out when I started this. Plastic is so much easier to work with than resin.

Unfortunately the banner keeps dropping off. Changing the backpack to a plastic Prospero one has had no effect. Its too thin to pin Any suggestions?

A very small sausage of green stuff.

Cut the ends flat to make a small cylinder shape.

Glue to backpack and drill centre.

This mskes a collar to stick banner pole in.

Glue banner in collar.

Jobs a goodun

The join in the crozius used to look perfect. It got damaged in a move of house. It looks pretty rough in close up I'll have to repair it

Yah, more irish Wolves. I like your work and the background story is really good, I'm looking forward to seeing more painted minis.

Are you based in Dublin at all?
