Just as a comparison. If you look at Magnus I consider him good. I think he's been painted well and I am very happy with him. But, I could have done more hours on him and did his armour NMM. But the minute you go down that route, it becomes a display piece and not a gaming piece. And I knew I was hoping to game with Magnus so made the decision early on to limit my time on him.

This is a display piece:

+++Snip, No AoS pics please Tzen. Use a different display mini for the comparison. Cheers+++

Now if you compare this NMM stormcast I did with the above terminators, no where near as much time and effort has gone in. And even then, when you look at the sword and the zombie on the Stormcast, it was rushed a little to hit a deadline.

I'm just sharing this because this is the sort of standard I compare my minis to usually. I'm not being (i hope! :biggrin.: ) too self effacing. I just know I can do better. :biggrin.:

Board inappropriate pic.

I know that. ;) And anyway, this part of the board isn't under my jurisdiction so it's not up for me to decide what stays and what goes. Just don't be too surprised if it is removed by the Inquisition!

Anyway, back on-topic, how did you paint the red gems and eye lenses?

I'm really liking that Ground Marine, very nice work! ;)

I think my favourite bit is the little glass-effect sand timer on his belt - very convincing.

I completely understand and agree - I'm the same in that sometimes I really want to push myself (I know I can paint well enough if I try hard enough), but other times I just want to get stuff done, even if it's to a very smart TT standard (and I always find myself slipping into the trap of putting more effort than I meant to).

There is a really good guide to gems in this months White Dwarf is basically how I did the eyes and gems. I'd really recommend looking at that! Just replace the colours with red and orange! :D

I try to paint my army to a certain standard and then every now and then spend a fair few weeks on a display model. I really want to do the new orruk shaman model! Very very tempted!

Rushed the Sorcerer for these guys, but the squad is done!

Need to do some individual sorcerers next, so may spend a little time on these so they stand out.

Magnus and his sons took to the field again today.

Had great fun controlling my opponents Imperial Knight blowing holes into his own Grey Knight army! :D

I am quite prepared to be wrong, and I don't have my book on me, but it doesn't say anything about not being able to target vehicles from what I can remember. From memory treason just says:

It is a "Malediction that allows the caster to take over an enemy unit and have them shoot as if they were one of your units in the shooting phase."

Nothing about vehicles or anything. Just unit from what I can see.

(Quite happy to be corrected, not a huge gamer).

Not to worry, all of those models will be on matching bases before the project is done! :D

People just want to play against Magnus and his chums, so despite my best efforts to hold off until the project is complete, I have been having the odd game with him! :D

They do look good on the board! Treason of Tzeentch is great but... I'm pretty sure you can't control vehicles with it . On the other hand the Heretech primaris power does allows you to do it, but it's more unreliable.

I checked this morning and you are right. I cheated! I am to have a rematch with my opponent to make up for it!

And yeah, bel'akor is pretty damn small. Great model though! :D

I re did the bases for my scarab occult to match Magnus' a little more!

I've also been busy as of late, so little hobby activity went on. However I recently had the privilege to spend an evening in the company of the amazing Jes Goodwin, and I took the opportunity to convince him to sign some of my books! :D

He was a really awesome chap, and we spent a long time discussing sculpting and the like!

It was a mix of both social and fortunate! :D

Currently working on an Exalted Sorcerer.

I've left the pin stand I use in the pic because people have asked me about my set up in the past. :)
