[HH1.0] Legio Custodes Tactica

Wow. At first glance Valdor looks like a near auto-take for a Custodes army.

Looks like we finally have a character (short of a primarch) that can take on Sigismund!

He's insane. He won't beat Primarchs, though. Everything else is screwed. His Spear has a rule called Molecular Severance: Any To-Wound roll of 4+ inflicts Instant Death, or if it's a vehicle it causes a penetrating hit regardless of the vehicle's AV. And it forces successful armour saves to be re-rolled.

I want to see the math-hammer between this guy and Scoria. Battle of the freaky molecular weapons?

Strange that Sentinel Guard Squads dropped to 180 points (baseline, for 3) but cost 65 points per additional model. :/

So glad I didn't assemble any Sisters or Custodes yet. Cannot wait for some of the yet-to-be-released units!

I'm working on the Quartmaster template for those who use it. Will send it through to Sean later today, provided I can gather all the rules together.

I assume the melta spears cost extra, but what do people think about running a squad of them deepstriking?

Pyrithite Spears are 15 points extra. I would like them on 3 man deepstriking squads but they only have a 6" range and Armoured Ceramite is a thing so its too many points for too little gain.

As I look through the stuff thats been leaked online I find myself with a few questions... Has anyone figured out what the Legio Custodes piece of equipment "misericordia" does?Valdor and several other units seem to have one and I'm kind of hoping its another specialist weapon for scamming another attack with Spear armed Custodes(and puts them at about the right power for points level in my books.).  The Agamatus jetbike squadron is a kickass fast attack choice 225 for 3 with the Illiastus Boltcannon seems quite good, 300 for them with Twin Linked Corvae Las Pulsar(Functionally a heavy d3 Lascannon) would make for a very nice backfield anti-tank unit as long as I'm reading sweeping fire and the "may upgrade" is deliberate wording and not a typo for "may replace".

One thing I don't quite get which perhaps the more serious Custodes players can explain to me is the role of the Caladius Grav Tank? It's a very fine looking tank with a very healthy statline but it lack teeth.  The vanilla version with the Illiastus Accelerator Cannon seems a very expensive platform for delivering 3 S7 AP2 as its main armament, The upgrade to the Arachnus Heavy Blaze Cannon seems good but that still makes its 210 points for a single S10 AP1 shot admittedly with the Exo-Shock rule which is a rather big investment. Has it proven itself worthwhile on the table for you guys?

Caladius Grav Tank is there to remove the greatest threats to most armies: javelins and jet bikes. This tank screws them. Idk if you saw it's new profiles but it has a new gun option with 2 firing modes, large blast str10 ap1 Or 4 shots str8 ap3 with a rule that if you pen something on a 4+ you get a second pen free.

There's it's teeth.

Question all: am I missing something or do the sagitarum (the tac boys with 2 guns) have to snap fire if they move because their guns are heavy?

The only place I know where Misericordia is located would be in a Caestus Assault Ram?

Constantin Valdor having a 10 man troop carrying capacity would definitely not be something my Opponents would expect

No one locally uses Javelins and Jetbike's so I guess it would make sense that  I wouldn't appreciate a unit that counters them.  The new gun is the Arachnus Heavy Blaze Cannon and its not a blast weapon, just a boring single shot weapon with Exo-Shock when fired in concentrated blast mode. The 4 Shot S8AP3 mode at least pairs nicely with its Lastrum Bolt Cannon for finishing off Legionary squads or Hunting Monstrous Creatures. Right now the Caladius just screams "super Hammerhead gunship" rules wise to me so its good for looking cool and scaring people but I hate to rely on single shot weapons.

You are spot on about the Sagitarum and having to snapfire if they want to move and fire their Bolt Caliver in volley mode. On the brightside they are one of the only units who are going to get good use out of the Corunus Grav Carrier with its lack of Assault Vehicle so its only good for moving around shooty Custodes infantry and should easily get them close enough to the enemy to use the Disintegration beam portion of their Bolt Caliver.

Does anyone know if the custodes non-transport tanks keep the "can only be taken if there is a custodes infantry unit in the army" rule? I want to make a sisters army with no custodes, but their only vehicle support would otherwise be just a transport unless they can jack the custodes tank.

I already have a small allies detachment planning to expand every few months or so as a reward to myself.

5 Excruciatus with Power Swords and an Executioner Blades

5 Sentinel Guard with a Solarite Gauntlet and Tele Transponders

I'll expand with a 5 man Hetaeron Guard with Paragon Blades, Shields, and Tele Transponders, bringing me to 1000. After that, the Trasbport and Sisters unit, or maybe Sagittarium

So Talons of the Emperor seminar just ended. Custodes are highly unlikely to get things like a grav Spartan, grav land raider, grav rhino etc. They are not Legions +1, their role is just fundamentally different.

Instead it looks like there's a rapid response transport flyer that was developed right after book 7 went to printers. Might see it in new model seminar.

so.... i cant take valdor with some sisters and custodes as allies as i need to use that HQ to take a hq sister of silence to unlock sisters as an option? Not happy with that :/

Do we know if custodes can take a fellblade as a lords of war choice?

"Sorry Valdor, I know you carry the emperors personal commands and seal, but i cannot let you move this fellblade from storage, its sleeping"

golly gee
