IronDrake28
Is it possible use a Praetor as my Warlord, and then include a Herald? I'm quite confused about how multiple models with Master of the Legion works, and then how the Support Officer rule of the Herald affects it. Caillum
If you take a Herald, he must be Warlord (due to the Rite of Command special rule). He is also a Support Officer, so you need to take a Compulsory HQ as well. This Compulsory HQ could be a Praetor, but it must be a 2000-point game (or more) due to Masters of the Legion being restricted to 1-per-1,000 points. This Compulsory HQ could also be a Special Character, a Centurion, or a Consul (except for other Support Officers). IronDrake28
Thank you for the quick response, and explaining it in a straight forward way! :) I thought I may have been playing an illegal list over the past few months for a minute there. Terminus
Herald doesn't have the regular Master of the Legion rule, he shares the same Rite of Command as the Delegatus, where you get MotL but still can be taken below 1000. Don't have my printed book here though and the iTunes version (which has several errors) only specifically calls out the Delegatus as being exempt, so maybe Caillum is dead on. Interestingly enough it specifically only calls out the Delegatus as being able to be included below 1k points. I'm sure that's what they intended to be the case for the herald as well. But RAW is specifically states that the Delegatus can be taken, not herald, but the herald has the rule that specifically states that a Delegatus can be takes <1k... My head hurts... Terminus
The fact that they didn't just give him Master of the Legion hints that they intended to give the same caveat as the Delegatus, on the other hand a Legion Herald would probably only show up in large engagements, so the 2000+ point requirement for having him and a Praetor may be intended as well. FW is so confusing. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/327882-a-herald-and-a-praetor/#findComment-4565036 Share on other sites
Charlo
I just wish it was worth running a herald :( I suppose in Primarch's chosen it could be.... IronDrake28
I just wish it was worth running a herald :( I suppose in Primarch's chosen it could be.... I'm using him to further buff my Ultramarines sword & board blob. It will be terrible, but screw it. Loyalist Heralds are especially hard to use. :( Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/327882-a-herald-and-a-praetor/#findComment-4565630 Share on other sites
Dono1979
I just wish it was worth running a herald I suppose in Primarch's chosen it could be.... Except you couldnt use him in Primarchs chosen because the Primarch has to be the Warlord leading to a conflict of rules? Caillum
^ Primarch overrides this restriction now. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/327882-a-herald-and-a-praetor/#findComment-4567811 Share on other sites
