Did someone say 'threadomancy'?!

My apologies for my appalling absence from the boards chaps, but rest assured I will be uploading some PAINTED (yes, I know, some kind of Heresy etc. etc.) work very soon!

In the meantime, please allow me to thank you all for your continued support and comments, and if you want to catch up on my antics since October, please head to Facebook or Instagram and check out the Anvils of Konor on those platforms.

May Nurgle shower you with gifts!

Hey guys,

I thought I would revive this thread with some painted work, shocking eh?!

So I've signed up for a couple of events in Feb and May and need to get 1000 and 2000 forces painted up respectively.

I started off with the least 'mutated' models of the force; a tactical squad, of which I've painted up half.

It's been a real learning curve but I've had plenty of support from friends and members of the community and found a wealth of excellent techniques online.

So without further ado, here is where I am at this moment in time;

Really want to hear what you chaps think!

After your last post, I - reluctantly - headed over to FB and already saw the new models there. These are fantastic, and I especially love how you try to subtly introduce the first signs of corruption and mutation into the legion without being too on the nose about it -- in my opinion, we are not seeing nearly enough "early Nurglite" Death Guard. The bare face on the sergeant is also truly something to behold!

Great to see more of your work over here, man! Don't be a stranger now, y' hear? ;)

Man they are LOOKING GREAT. The caps lock happened by accident but i'm going to allow it because im so throuoghly impressed. its enough to get your brushes wet and have a go, but you have totally knocked these out of the park. I follow you on instagram but its nice to see the pictures here (and save them to my computer!)

I'm so happy you can paint bro! I've been holding my breath since you first showed up out of nowhere wielding plastic like some kind of god.

Great stuff from you mate!

Hey guys,

Following on from the Tactical marines, whilst laying the basic colours on the remainder of the squad I decided to paint up a basic Auxilia levy to keep things interesting.

This is the fruit of my labour thus far, but I need to finish the skin, blade and base before he's ready to reck and get rekd.

C&C welcome!

Wow they look great, really gritty.

Thanks buddy, I'm trying to go for a really realistic look with these chaps, to reflect their nature as a Legion but also there fall to the powers of Nurgle.

Thanks dude! He actually isn't the Sgt, I'll be working on him this week! I'll make sure I post a couple of times a week with my hobby progress.

You're too kind sir! I had been putting painting off for so long because I was so worried about screwing it up!

They look great! Your paint job and effects compliment your awesome builds!

Super happy to see more of your work!

Thanks buddy, I'll endeavour to deliver the goods!

Great to see you posting here again! Seen these on instagram already but wow full sized pictures truly do these justice! Love the weathering you've done for the DG and that orange suit on the levy is awesome too. Looking forward to seeing more!

~ Jarl Einar, Sunderer of the Trident Nebula, strode into the thick blanket of smoke that lay over Tizca like a funeral shroud.

Many threads had been cut this day and Einar took no joy in the chaotic battle that surrounded him. The contention between the sons of Magnus and Vlka Fenryka was no secret, and though it was necessary to bring the Crimson King to account for his violation of the Emperor's edict, the sheer scale of wanton destruction and devastation wrought upon the planet grieved Einar.

He was reminded of the deep sorrow and frustration evident behind his Primarch’s eyes as the upper echelons of the Legion gathered at the war-hearth aboard the Hrafnkel before the murder-make.

The reek of ozone, scorched meat and ash wreathed the battlefield, and Einar was forced to rely on his other senses, his preternatural olfactory receptors rendered useless amid the overwhelming scents.

The haze parted ahead of him, and he caught sight of a warrior in dust-caked crimson plate lined with gold, unnatural lightning crackling between his fingers. He gave no pause as he pulled the trigger of his volkite. A violent beam of energy struck out, reducing his target to an ashen cloud of constituent atoms, before it was blown away like so much else on Prospero. ~

Hey guys,

After #bananagate I wanted to come up with my own VIth Legion Praetor to see what I could do compared to Forgeworld.

What started as a petty modelling challenge turned into the beginning of a new force, having totally fallen for the Vlka Fenryka!

Will eventually get to making Varangyr etc. but need to get some more DG done first!

Keen to hear what you think!

Fenrys Hjolda!

Thanks dude! I plan to get some painting done today so will share when ready!

Those tacticals.

Thanks buddy! Stay tuned for more!

That is indeed quite an improvement over FW's new Space Wolves Praetor. I do have one gripe with the model however: By lengthening the model at the waist, I think you've actually made his waist look just a bit too thin -- his actual waist underneath the armour would have to be positively waspish for him to fit in there. Maybe it would be better to bulk him out a bit in that area, add some small additional armour plates, something like that...?!

i agree great mini but some hip plates would make it look a tad better imo

And that forgeworld is how a 30k Wolf Lord should have looked!

Awesome work dude, if only you could cast it and sell it to all the poor SW players!

Thanks dude! You always say the nicest things! Gotta say I really pushed myself with this guy! Now for Varangyr...

That looks like a proper praetor! What did you use for the studs on the leather strips of his shoulder? Plasticard that you cut down?

Thanks buddy! I actually cheated and cut the diamond studs from some Mastercrafted Miniatures pads!

The FW SW Praetor was a real disappointment qualitywise. You've done an great job depicting the character of the legion in a more muted fashion.

Looking forward to more.

Thanks! I didn't want to go overboard with the sculpt, as I feel this is a real danger, especially with Vlka Fenryka in HH. A lot of the character will come out with a nice paint job too!

Thanks for the compliment, though I feel most would be able to best that diabolical miniature! Hehe

Hmmm, I'm sorry to hear that, especially as I deliberately widened the waist (see last photo) to make it fit his proportions. You're the first person to point this out!

I also want to avoid adding additional plates that might further impede his ability to perform his role on the battlefield.

Perhaps it can be explained by thinner plates of ceramite, the armour save being 2+ after all!

Thanks! Like I said above, I want to avoid making it look too busy. I certainly considered it, but ultimately decided it would betray the HH aesthetic, at least with this Legion.

Hey guys,

Been chipping away at the Death Guard, and though I missed my weekly goal to complete 5 more tactical marines, I did manage to finish this chap;

A few new techniques employed, and I'm happy with the results!

C&C welcome

That looks REEAAALL good! I love the paint job and weathering/grime on the armor. I also like smaller amount of taint & mutation on the marine too!

*Snap my fingers about the studs. I want to make some larger ones for a dreadnought's armor but curious if its best to make them using plasticard and just cut them down into shape. Probably a sharp xacto blade and file.

Very nice -- and he should look right at home next to the less corrupted legionaries you painted before! One small thing, however: It feel his mutations would work better if they were less comically purple and looked more like discoloured human skin. Just a small suggestion...

Great work brother, that Praetor looks the real deal and the fur is well done. The Death Guard legionnaire looks better for the reduced mutations, though I agree with Kraut that the purple might be a bit over the top. The rusting on the mace is solid, however.
