I like it too.

@Squig: Glad you're back. I shoot you a pm a while ago, but I may adress it here as well: I was wanted to built Koschei with Guilliman as base an create from him an artificer cataphractii armor. I wanted for the diorama with daerdd and K'awil as you if it is olay to keep the underslung storm(heavy)bolter, exchange it with an autocannon or stormcannon ( would give it Koschei so he has some shootingoptions and looking at our primarchs it would make him in that segment unique as I see none ( maybe Kozja with his pistols or Azus but je is a NinjaSniper) who could put out so much damage on the distance. Would be cool if you could add that as an option.

Sorry Mikhal, it looks like I've missed quite a few PMs :/

Guilliman probably is the best choice; he's what I've thought of building Koschei from if I had the skill. And yeah, giving him a different weapon option could be interesting as it's mentioned in fluff that all the primarchs have an extensive arsenal of weaponry but I feel that isn't really represented in rules that much. My instinct for a shooting weapon for Koschei would probably be an autocannon.

"How about each and everyone of use sums up the idea behind their respective Primarch?

Cultural influences? Certain historical or fictional figure on which they are basing on? Generel idea? Something like that."

Alexandros is essentially a nice version of Alexander the Great with psychic powers and who is devoted to humanity. In this case, the psychic powers were specifically drawn from the less flashy to not disturb some mortal minds, and it had the effect of essentially creating a 'good cop' internal investigator. Ideally, Alexandros' powers give him the best set-up for finding and eliminating corruption, both mundane and supernatural. Furthermore, since he's so Noblebright, he often clashes with the Emperor and the Imperium with the morally grey and grimdark boundaries, leading him to be something of a loyal rebel. Included in his Noblebright nature is his love for his family. Before becoming the Warmaster, he was constantly working at making sure his brother Primarchs were getting along and building a true family unit. Culturally, he's mostly Greek/Mycenaean skin with a dash of Indian melded in built upon a hefty dose of idealism.

Becoming the Warmaster actually shifts his overall personality since he becomes more respectful of the rules compared to his willingness to skirt the line back when he was the power behind the throne. The duties of the Warmaster actually cripple his ability to building those familial bonds between the Primarchs, even as he steadily proves that he is a capable Warmaster.

Does anyone know how Imperial sensors work? Specifically, can they detect objects before the light from that object reaches the sensor, and beyond Astropathic communication is there any way of sending information faster than light? I ask because I had a thought; A system's Mandeville point is typically a long distance from the system's star(s) due to the gravity well interfering with safe warp travel. Obviously, a warp translation into the system would be detected by astropaths in the system, however if faster-than-light detection is not possible then an attacking force already has a significant advantage; They will be able to see the defenders hours (at the very least) before the defenders see the attackers. This gives the attackers time to analyse the exact composition of the defending fleet, spot defense platforms (that aren't otherwise hidden) and planet-bound anti-orbital weapons. Depending on weapons being used, they'd also be able to get torpedos in the 'water', laser blasts firing etc.

All this means that if the Imperium does not have FTL sensor systems, then by the time the defenders are able to actually 'see' the attacking fleet, the first volley of lasers from the attackers will be hitting the defenders

Not related to the current topic, but I did have a thought as to how a system could have early warning systems to deal with this problem. Either patrol boats sat out at the Mandeville point with astropaths on board to transmit force composition back to the inner system, or (more likely for forge worlds) essentially vat-Astropaths; Astropath brains in jars sat in satelites around the Mandeville point that transmit sensor information back to the inner system

It is often said that all primarchs are based on some facet of the Emperor. In Kozja's case, the Emperor's identity is present as the Unificator, the one who conquered Terra and made it reach to the stars. Kozja began his life as a genetor-warlord, like so many on ancient Terra. Through geno-augmentation he formed armies that would in time conquer his homeworld. But unlike the Emperor, Kozja went mad with the power he gained from ruling an entire world, and later an entire segment of the galaxy. This madness crept slowly, first as a belief he could do as good, if no better, than his creator in matters of Gene-seed, to culminate in an attempt to make himself a god. Take Ivan the Terrible, give him one million soldiers and teach him genetics. Watch as the galaxy burns at the hand of a conqueror full of knowledge but without wisdom.

In regards to tech and communications/warning systems, since we're talking about the Imperium at it's technological height; more advanced systems could use Fermion based qubits for information transfer since Fermions lack a Boson they lack mass and can move exponentially faster than light.

Sounds good to me. So Primus and Secundus-grade Forge Worlds, some core world etc would have that system, Tertiary and below forge worlds could use the the vat astropaths?

Brothers in arms and mind,

I have to announce something.

But not yet. I'm just teasing you. :P

Keep your smartphones, laptops and pc's close at hand for I will post something which might surprise some of you, today! Stay tuned...You're gonna love this. ;)

Brothers assemble!

It has already been over two years since a bunch of Warhammer 40K fanboys decided to start their own Lost & Forgotten Legions.

Inspired by the First One, Athrawes, they started to write about unique Legions, which the BnC community has not seen before.

Thus, the Halcyon Wardens, the Eagle Warriors, the Wardens of Light, the Godslayers and many other Legions were born.

Praise be the day of their birth!

Not long after did they got in contact to each other, forming the sacred bound of fraternity.

It was the beginning of a holy task.

A task of forming an entire new setting.

A new Heresy.

A new galaxy.

This and nothing else gave birth to the Brotherhood of the Lost!

Praise be its creators!

Two years have passed and a lot did occur. Brothers retired and new ones were inducted into this arcane fellowship.

Books, capturing their wisdom and fantasy came into being.

Nonsense and madness really bore fruit of actual good stuff. Who would have thought?

From this hideous (and some might say reclusive) brotherhood, four members shall be praised today!

SIMISON, DRAKZILLA, GRIFFTOFER AND SIGISMUND, the 229th to bear this name

COME FORWARD

Your brothers want to thank you for everything you have done for our community!

Be it art, fluff, creating PDFs or leading this bunch of madmen, you shined out!

Thus, your brothers (MikhalLeNoir, Kelborn, SanguiniusReborn, Raktra and Chief Captain Rhedd) gathered their ressources and assigned a talented artist to do the following.

This is our way to give something back to you.

Long speech short, we hope you will enjoy it.

For the brotherhood! Ad astra!

Brothers, I am honored by your gift.

For so long, I have dreamed of the day where Alexandros rightfully wore the terminator plate that distinguishes him

from his days as the Shield-Lord to his audacious title of Warmaster. Not only am I happy to see him in his proper regalia, it is an unexpected

delight to see him stand with three of his brothers. Seeing them together makes the experience stronger,

more so than seeing them one at a time. It is a powerful reminder that our universe is not simply the creation of one individual,

but the combined force of a truly talented fraternity.

From heroes to villains to those in-between, the Brotherhood of the Lost is truly something unique.

MikhalLeNoir, Kelborn, SanguiniusReborn, Raktra, and Chief Captain Redd, you have my gratitude.

*bows*

May our brotherhood continue on into the future for a great many years.

Ad astra!

Finally the Lord of Light has some company^^.

This has been a project of real dedication and you guys digged really deep to let it happen. So presenting you this was a delight for us all.

I want to save money and every time I reach 60 £, I commission 2 chars ny slaine for our project. Of course help is always loved to see and will speed up the process. After the primarchs we have a lot of special chars^^

Indeed! Can I have a link to the artist? I'd like to thank them for their work.

Looking over the five Primarchs, I really am struck by how different they are from one another. Having Gwal next to his brothers really heightens that other-worldliness he has. He is by far one of the most idealistic souls among a brotherhood of genetic warlords, yet the mask really emphasizes that he is further removed from common humanity than his brothers.

The more I think about it, the more I think Alex's portrait really manages to convey the sheer amount of pressure it is to carry the galaxy's fate on one's shoulders. From the missing grin to the direct, almost hostile stare to his hair being worn down, compare all of that to his saint-max picture, and it really captures just how crushing the Insurrection has been on this man who wanted nothing more than peace.

I don't know if this intentional, but the way the General is posed, it feels like he is looking down on you, that he is the superior. Which, ironically, fits well with what I remember of his personality and his constant drive to increase his own scholarship.

I love the nobility captured in Hectarion's picture. Although rare, I can easily imagine Hectarion possessing a quiet dignity worthy of a lion. To me, this image really helps me imagine him as the second Warmaster.

And K'awil's picture is just outright intimidating. I was actually caught off-guard when I opened his image. The eyes really sell the fact that he may be more monster than man.

Oh wow...

Thank you so much, I'm truly honored and grateful to be part of this project and brotherhood.

It's quite something to see these characters brought to life, especially since they're characters that I've drawn and as a result have some attachment to. Seeing the common elements and the differences is really cool, and this artist really nailed the spirit of these Primarchs.

Again, thank all of you for your dedicated work and contributions, and may we have more exciting and productive years to come.

Ad Astra!

Agreed. While Drak's drawing captured the aggression that Hectarion displays on the battlefield, this one I feel really encapsulates his kingly side. When you look at Drak's image, it comes across how dangerous he is  as a warrior, whereas here it comes across that he is a king as well.

My only criticism would be that he's missing his tatoos but given the overall quality of the work, I'm not really sure I can fault the artist for that

In other news: I'M DONE MOVING IN TO MY UNIVERSITY ACCOMODATION! So I should start having more time now, although that obviously depends on how much partying I decide to do during freshers week

Stop posting, guys.

I'm running out of likes. ^^

@Sigi: Congratulations! :D

@Simi: Indeed. I had the same impression when Mikhal showed them to me. Don't take this as advertisement but Slaine really is THE best artist I've met thus far regarding catching a certain trait. His depictions never disappoint.

@Mikhal: I'll help you as good as I can. You know that. ;)

Overall, I'm currently saving some money as well to do some commissions. Maybe one per month or every second / third months. At first, I've recruited Blazbaros for this guy here

Although this was done for my 8th edition Dominion of Storms, I can already see this as a cohort for our expanding universe, as well. Next thing I'd like to order would be another chapter from Blazbaros or a portrait of Andezo done by Slaine.

Great times are ahead of us! :D
