8th Edition: Zeal Rising

They've already said multiple times that all your units for every army are still valid choices in 8th. They've even specifically mentioned that we will be pleased with Crusader squads. Can we please stop worrying about it?

They did mention that all units are still valid choices... but that there will also be specific faction books for your specific army...

If they put all the rules for Templars inside the Imperium Volume 1 book, then I guess we won't be getting a faction specific book... but if we are getting faction specific books, then they will likely hold out on us in regards to the Imperium book, just so we would buy the faction specific book because it would be better... it makes sense as a corporate decision to increase sales after all, unless the faction specific book does not contain any rules in them but just fluff for those who really want an in depth story for their army...

So I guess we will see...

The indexes are literally only being made so people can get the rules for all of their models on day 1. Faction specific books will be made for everyone in the future but until then people need to have access to their rules.

Seriously people chill out. We will have our rules at the start so we can keep crusading, we'll just get more stuff later on.

I'll stop worrying when there's a codex in my hand with solid rules for us.

I am not sure.

I am so sick of what GW did to the R.Z. rule.  Movement is one of the most important things in playing the game and then it went from being a movement bonus( with Chaplains) into a bonus, you just get if your opponent fires at you. It means no bonus if your enemy are bloodletters or anything else. So that Ultramarines with their CT are even better in closecombat.

But dont forget - accept any challenge VOW is close to what we get in Gahtering storm (hate)

I hope to see a bonus in charging we get 2D6 ( minimum 6" ) for R.ZEAL,

hope to see a Helbrecht can fight with any other chaptermaster (or even Lysander)... to this day he never has  the rules he deserved

@Lysere - i dont want to wait any longer. Since 6th Edition codex SM we wait for it. And even other companies (not chapters) get one before us.

A game comes out that is called "ethernal crusade" and ....templars?? hmmm

Since 6th Edition I had the feeling that GW hates us (really). Since that date I was sure that there are one or two people in the stuff of GW they prevent us for a better treatment. They wish that BT never excisted.

The Primaris Cpt let you close units re-roll to hit.  Hmmm if that works for CC he might be good.

Also the Inceptor Squad have hand held short range heavy bolters.  Depending on points I'm still holding to heavy bolters being one of the best SM ranged weapons this coming edition.

I honestly don't mind the extra stomach armour, as much as everyone here seems to hate it. Hides the power cabling and extra protection for the organs below the protection of the solid rib cage. The hood, however, just seems unnecessary between the ceramite helmets and pauldrons.

Maybe folks would be more accepting of Gravis if it were flat-out replacing centurion suits and units.

Doesn't specify a phase, though the examples were keyed to shooting.

Inceptors: basically a revamped Storm Bolter, but 6 shots each does carry the idea of Heavies. A shame there's no real difference in deployment vs a traditional Assault squad, but they suffer post deployment from their slow armour.

Oh wow they updated the post with more detailed screenshots.

Rites of Battle should show up on a few models and as it is only a re-roll on 1s it is nice but not over the top.

I do hope that Crushing Charge shows up on a number of models.

Also if they don't change things both the Black Sword and the Sword of the High Marshal are master crafted.  From the rules it looks like master crafted now adds a +1 damage as shown in profile of the master crafted power sword.

So long as the dev team can maintain consistency.

Landraiders better get some fraking crushing charge...

Any thoughts on power to point ratio? If a 5 man tac squad is 5 power with whatever options they want (average of what? 110 points now?) that would come out to about 150 for the captain and 175 for the supermario bros movie boot guys if the power scales to points. Granted we have no idea yet how the points will actually fall, but in the current system that sounds pretty reasonable.

Interceptor Meteoric Descent puts it at 9" from a target, with a 10" base movement that puts you at a distinct advantage to try and use the Crushing Charge rule and hope for 6's. If not then you blast away with those HBs.

As I thought and still think, they'll make a great fodder alpha strike if the points are right, but still not painting them black. Maybe yellow.

I think I just overlooked something as it seems you can either "Advance" or charge in 8th is this correct?

To "Advance" is this the replacement to "running"?

It replaces running and is done in addition to your movement. So you advance M+D6".

All leaks are allowed until the release. Keep in mind that that rule applies to things that must be normally purchased to get the rules

Any word on how we're going to handle free rules when they're released? Bit off topic, but it's an interesting change for the forum.
