TheUndefeatedGaul
These are great. Really like the purples and greens that pop out. The weathering is great too, keep up the good work :-) Thanks mate So, progress.. I've almost completed another PM for the squad. No pics yet, at this point I might as well just wait until he's done and do the pic then. I picked up First Strike the other day, and have built and basecoated the PM's - as well as a couple of minor conversions; The conversions are limited to basically hacking off some of the horns and spikes. I like them on the new Death Guard line, but not all over the place. I also decided that I would sacrifice the Primaris in the First Strike set to the call of Chaos, so, as my local club is talking about having a Shadow War campaign weekend soon.. I decided to use the parts to create some true scale Alpha Legionnaires. They obviously need some more work, I've just stuck together the basics for now. They're made from all six Reivers and Intercessors in the First Strike box, hacked apart and glued back together. Trying to decide if when they're finished if I'll go for the metallic finish a lot of people have, or for normal paint as it were. The latter has the added bonus of meaning that I don't have to buy new paint to finish them. Any other suggestions on how to paint the Alpha Legion? TheUndefeatedGaul
My first Plague Marine squad is now complete; Thoroughly enjoyed building and painting these models, and I can't wait for the new model range to launch and get stuck into some multi-part kits to build my horde of undead space marines. Nurgle was my army of choice years ago before I left the hobby, so I'm delighted to be able to return with so much better models available! I've also started experimenting with my first batch of Poxwalkers; I'm really not happy with the skintones though, I was picturing a diseased green/yellow tinged skin with purple for bruising but I haven't managed to blend out the colours enough for my liking. I'm trying to decide weather to carry on and try to fix these guys or just to strip them and start again. Hopefully it won't take me too long to figure out what to do because I've got almost thirty to paint as well as the three Plague Marines from First Strike and the Dark Imperium Sorcerer. Thanks for looking. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/335575-death-guard-v-ultramarines/page/2/#findComment-4833951 Share on other sites
Mister Feral
For Alpha Legion, I'm a fan of the non-metallic look so perhaps look at the two Thousand Son blue paints as basecoat colours? TheUndefeatedGaul
For Alpha Legion, I'm a fan of the non-metallic look so perhaps look at the two Thousand Son blue paints as basecoat colours? Thanks for the input man. I've been leaning towards the non metallic approach myself so once they're finished I think that is the direction I may take. Now, progress! I have now completed the Death Guard contents of Dark Imperium and First Strike; Excuse the bad lighting, but you get the idea. When I'm able to I'll take better pictures but for now this will do. Close ups of the Poxwalkers.. I finally found a scheme I was happy with for the Poxwalkers that was a happy medium between being fast to paint, and picking out all those little details. I can definitely see more of these being added to the army in the future. Going forward, I have about five more Poxwalkers from another purchase left on the sprue that I'll build and paint, but after they're completed I think I'l turn my attention to the Primaris side of the DI box and work on my Ultramarines until the new Death Guard codex comes out. TheUndefeatedGaul
Greetings all! Now that my Death Guard portion of the starter sets is complete, I thought it time to turn my attention to the boys in blue and work on my Ultramarine force. I've managed to finish a small chunk of the force so far; Some close ups; I've also gotten about halfway through my Hellblaster squad; Once they're completed, next up to be painted will be my Interceptor squad. I converted them to have some (imo) less awkward poses and tried to get something out of the kit that suggested the shock and awe aspect of the fluff behind them. And finally, on the building station (though as you can tell inspiration struck while I had already started painting the stock mini) - is my interpretation of the Gravis armour, AKA the truescale Terminator He needs a lot more work as you can see but I'm excited to see where he's going. Once all this is complete it's difficult to say right now if I'll be continuing the Death Guard or Utramarines, I have ideas for both so time will tell (and it'll probably depend on if the generic Plague Marine kit is out by then, too) Thanks for looking.
