Thanks @W.A.Rorie @Firedrake Cordova. The beauty of an extensive bits box and ebay.

I'm debating whether to sculpt the parapet strip from the company heraldry on the right shoulder pad or paint it on.

IMHO the amount of detail that is on him, if the company heraldry was painted it would look off.  If he was a rank and file trooper yes paint. He's "Ragnar" so it should be sculpted.

Ah... when you put it that way, sculpting it is.

AND POSSESSED OF DEEP POCKETS

Kind words @SvenIronhand thank you. This one is surprisingly cheap and has probably cost somewhere between what you'd pay for Ragnar or Helbrecht direct from GW. Some of the other things I've made can be argued as being less than fiscally responsible

Minor update. I tried to sculpt first and then attach once cured but it kept curving the wrong way on the shoulder, so I gave direct sculpting a go. Might trim the parapets in height once it's cured a bit more. Also ran out of purity seals so I'm giving sculpting them a go too. Ignore the missing sword, it snapped off again. Going to pin it this time.

Calling him finished from a sculpting standpoint, now to try and paint him.

Added a couple more purity seals and also added the company heraldry to the right shin since I couldn't fit a tilt shield on the shoulders without it looking wrong.

Thanks as always for the kind words.

Pretty much finished Proxy Ragnar 2.0, just sorting his base now so here he is sporting a temporary one for photos.

And also some tests on adding the Company heraldry to the left legs on non-HQ marines. Undecided on whether I'll go ahead with this idea on all models.

Also went back and added the Company heraldry theme on to proxy Logan and tested it out on a Terminator too. I think I'm going to stick with it for everything going forward.

Back again with a new plan. I'm going not work on an active army list until 11th is in full swing, so in the meantime I'm going to try and model all of my Chapter's command. Currently at 4 out of 13 with what I've done so far, so without further a-do here's some wips my fifth entry who coincidentally is also the 5th Company Captain. There'll probably also be a Leviathan or Saturnine kitbash in there somewhere too.

Some sculpting still required and extra bling to stick on (just realised the sword pommel has fallen off and is likely now lost to the warp). I don't know whether to fill the holes in the cloak or not.

If I do run him on the tabletop then I'll be using him as a Combi-Lieutenant proxy.

Parts used:

Lord of Poxes cloak and sword arm

Black Templars Marshal legs and torso

Black Templars Sword Brethren combi plasma

Lion El'Jonson hooded bare head

Random spare Primaris backpack

Dark Angels Inner Circle Companions sheathed sword

He looks great.  Only thing I'm not sure about is the angle he's holding the gun, which looks a big awkward given its size... but I don't really have any suggestions on how to change that.

Still, great selection of parts - you've created an awesome and unique model.

@Dr_Ruminahui I feel it looked worse originally with the gun fully raised as if shooting. I think I was going with the idea that he's midway dropping/stowing the gun after holding it with both hands and is preparing to draw his sword with the re-pose. If I wasn't intending on proxying him as a Combi Lieutenant then I would have gone with a Godwyn pattern bolter or Grey Hunter carbine.

Great kitbash. I also appreciate the list of kits/bits that you used. I would agree with @Dr_Ruminahui about the gun, but at the same time, I wouldn't be bothered about it. It's actually in-line with GW's own design precedent (one of the Sword Bros). And, given the right angle, it looks very good (i.e. first photo).

I think this is one of those cases of the disconnect between miniatures and the implications of GWs design choices - in-universe, apparently, Space Marines carry oversized guns and can use them one-handed; as a mini, many things look a bit awkward: starting from quite natural 'in-motion' poses (like you mentioned, the guy dopping/stowing the gun with your kitbash; or the in-flight or in-run poses od Assault Intercessors), ending on the quite ridiculous heavy bolt pistol holsters dangling between marines' legs.

I think it's due to the fact that its a new combi weapon, in primaris scale.

@Knightsword have you thought about the possibility of using an older (smaller) combi weapon?

Regardless, the conversion work you did is outstanding, the cape, sword and base mini all blend in together just as if they were meant to be assembled like this
