[DW] Blackthorn and Swordhand: OOC Thread

Thank you all, I'll do a catch-all post once Reyner does his bit.  Got to keep the suspense up, no?

EDIT: Quick FYI for the guys in the Lictor fight, if you fail your perception, you can fire blind.  Just tell me which direction you're firing in.  Akkad is facing Northwest, behind him is Tyber, facing...up.  Yeng I think is off to Akkad's right, at North East East and Vorr is facing in the opposite direction?  Southwest?  Towards the firebase.

Gotten a bit lost - can I enter squad mode fire with the shotgun and my turn ends there or can I also ready the missile launcher and fire it? Since we are in round two now right?

It can be easy to trip up here as the Squad Mode will throw a bit of a spanner.  Prepare for wall of text.

We are in Round Two, so you have your full turn. You can enter Squad Mode for free as Akkad is sustaining it (you simply say you're joining in :smile.: )

Options for your turn:

  • Full Action: Full Auto Burst - Shotgun
  • Turn ends
  • You may use your Reaction to fire your Shotgun on single shot

Or:

  • If you do not detect the beastie, as a Full Action, you may choose Suppressive Fire with your Shotty, which lets you just Predator the Jungle in a 45 degree cone in a direction of your choice, but you don't get any bonuses for Full Auto and take a further -20 penalty to hit (but if you give me some cool lines, I'll drop it to -10)

Or:

  • Half Action: Ready Missile Launcher
  • Half Action: Standard Attack (Fire Missile)
  • You may, if you wish draw your Shotgun for free here, holding a missile launcher in one hand and the boomstick in the other (Rambo!)
  • Turn ends
  • You may use your Reaction to fire another missile
  • If you have drawn your shotgun, you may fire a single shot with it as your Reaction instead

A quick note on bonuses available to you.

  • A full auto burst will add +20 (unless you do the Predator thing)
  • If you detect the Lictor you get +20 to hit due to how big it is

Does this help at all or am I messing this GM'ing up massively and putting you all off?

Quite the opposite – it's really helpful to have the mechanics explained :smile.:

I've added a new post. Assuming Yeng has successfully detected the lictor, he's shooting at it (using all his various skills) – and also pointedly drawing the squad's attention to where it is. I've gone for dragonfire rounds on the basis that they're the nearest thing to tracers, as well as hopefully lighting it up to make it harder for it to hide.

To head off a pause, I assume the to hit is also a D100? If so, the 'raw roll' is 18.

BS 40(4)

Possibly relevant skills/equipment: bolter drill; [armour trait that ensures No penalty for moving and firing Pistol/Basic Weapons)

+++

Will this add any bonuses to the others' actions?

Finally, I hope poor Tyber is doing okay – I need to clear the immediate danger before Yeng can reasonably start treatment. Once we've distracted/engaged/killed it, I'll get onto the proper patching up. If I can get him propped up, we'll have another gun in the fight :smile.:

Vorr right now:

Makes me wish he had a heavy bolter :biggrin.:

Can someone give me a hand with the shooting rolls? Ballistic Skill is 58 and as Vorr passed the test does he get the +20 bonus because it's a large target? So 78 vs whatever I roll with a d100 yeah?

My my, someone is very excited...!

Yes mate, pop your rolls into your IC post like this: (Don't worry about your action to ready it etc, we know all about that  )

GM/Reyner ONLY:

Half Action: Standard Attack (Frag Missile)

BS: 58 +20 (Size) +10 (Close Range) = 88

Damage resolved at Pen 4 Blast (5)

D100 Roll: xxx

Damage: 2D10

Location: D100, consult your character sheet for where this is.

EDIT: For your Damage, just roll 2D10 and add them together.  If any or both of the D10's roll a natural 10, you may roll another D10 and add it to your damage.  This D10 explodes, so to speak, so if it also rolls a D10 you keep going until you roll a 9.

We call this wonderful murder device Righteous Fury.

You bloody would have.

That bonus only takes place if you inflict Critical Damage to a target ie:

The Target is at less than 0 wounds it is Critically Damaged (like Tyber was).  Since you add +2 to the result, if you really hurt this beast, you may rip off an appendage etc.

So for you, Giving it a Headache at -1 wound, becomes, Smashing in it's Teeth at -3.

Does that help?

Due to RF (in DH), it's the only time I've ever seen a single las gun shot kill a Chaos Marine....

It's a story for another time and place, but let's just say that the Emperor was with that player the one and only time they actually managed to hit anything...

Something these traitors are going to find out:

  • We aren't hostage negotiators
  • The only way out of this for traitors that isnt surrender can ONLY be death

Sorry in advance, A.T :tongue.:

I am guessing this is a Security Skill Check ... and maybe an Awareness (base +10 currently before figuring in Bionics and the Augur Array?

And I recall that the basic Astartes Breaching technique ( from the venerable Cityfight Codex) is simply going THROUGH the walls at structural weak points ?

Playing right into my hands....

Er, yup, making me work for it here guys, making me work.

AT, does that scope act like a Preysense sight?  I know you're probably sick of being asked! :tongue.:

It is actually a specialised auger that allows Atratus to locate and track targets through walls (and a secondary function for locating structural weaknesses, hence the higher than usual penetration score).

This - but less conspicuous, and not attached to a quake railgun (unless the mechanicus are willing to lend him a Sollex Electro-pult...)

Dice:

Both rolls should have passed, DG depends on target number:

Tech Use (Int 51 +10 Skill, possibly +20 Bionics and or + 10 Electrograft Use if some form of uplink is possible ) : 21 http://orokos.com/roll/748319#

Security (int 51 again, possibly +20 Bionics and or + 10 Electrograft Use if some form of uplink is possible ): 34 http://orokos.com/roll/748320

Thank you very lads, most appreciated - just a quick point of order, from now on can we put any gameplay Dice rolls in the IC thread in OOC green please - just saves me having to trawl through posts to find your results. :) (And it breaks up my walls of text :) )

Thanks!
