Chuffer!? :biggrin.: It's like going to battle with the "Boys from the Dwarf"..!

Right (rubs hands) Cohesion good sir is calculated thusly: (Warning /// incoming text wall /// Warning ///)

Your base score is your Fellowship Bonus.

  1. You may then add +1 if you have the Command Skill.
  2. You may add +2 if your Command Skill is Trained.*

Then, because you are an Ultramarine/Successor and because you are the Squad Leader, you may add +1.

These are all cumulative (*the higher of the two applies, not both though), making our full Cohesion Score: 6 (EDIT: See note from Mol below)

This is also the number of Cohesion Points we have, which we must spend to activate an ability.  However, once we have activated an ability we can drop back into it for free.

Our Cohesion score is also our test number for what are called Cohesion Challenges.  This is what allows us to drop into Squad Mode - the challenge represents each Marine learning to trust one another, adjust tactics, read movements etc.  To pass a Cohesion challenge/test etc you must roll a D10 and score equal or less to the current Cohesion Score.  You may do this as a Free Action if you pass.

If you fail, you will miss your turn, but start in Squad Mode on your next turn.  However, since you are KT leader, you may, once per combat, drop into Squad Mode for free without a Cohesion Challenge.  The Squad can all do the same via this ability.  Otherwise anyone can automatically pass a Cohesion Challenge by spending a Fate Point.  To be eligible for Squad Mode you must:

  • Be in Support Range (which for us at the moment is 30 metres)
  • Have at least 1 point of Cohesion remaining (which there is)
  • Be conscious (which we all are...for now!)

This sounds like a lot of grox huff for a simple question, but it's how it all calculates and you can only go into SQM if you meet said criteria as well, so it's all relevant.

Deathwatch RPG - Crunch be thy name.

The Kill-Team's current cohesion is at 6, per the last time I checked.

That's our Cohesion Challenge number then :smile.:  Cheers Mol.

I just checked Vaidan's sheet - Dos built him in such a way that when we're at full Cohesion, our score would be 8!

EDIT: last post updated as inspired by Nine ;)

Yeah its a habit I have from having played Only War for longer than I have Deatbwatch where youre able to aim and shoot since Semi auto bursts are half actions at +0 so MY BAD!

Otherwise, thank for clearing up the confusion Mol, I 100% thought i was the S marker.

Additionally, yes will attempt to not harm and civilians if possible.

MR, as far as I am aware of the highest you can push at rank 1 is 9, but you need a couple of armour histories that add to it....

Slips, one thing you can do in Deathwatch is Half action aim, half action called shot.

I've added an update and got this for my actions how does this look? I haven't figured out damage placement and stuff yet:

Vaidan enters Squad Mode as a free action.

Semi-auto Burst against Genestealer 3 (Hellfire Ammunition)
BS 42 + 10 (SAB) + 10 (Close Range) = 62
D100 Roll: 45 Pass + 1 DOS = 1 shot
Shot 1: 1D10+9 Damage = (9,4 = 9) 18 Damage (Ignoring natural armour)

Close Hellfire rounds generate Rightous Furry on a 9/10, with Deathwatch training allowing for auto confirmation of RF. RF Grant's you an extra D10 damage, triggering again on another 10.

As for shot placement, take the number you rolled and reverse it, then look at the paper doll on our character sheet, in the middle to find the correct spot.

Edit: auto correct....

Ooft!

I'll edit in some angry yelling for that RF damage!

Huh, I didn't see the Dodge worked against ranged attacks too.

The more you know!

It's easy enough for us to justify by saying that the crowd managed to distract / slow down the genestealers enough to make them momentarily vulnerable, but the next turns should be interesting!

yup, dodge works against ranged attacks and melee, parry only works against melee... how ever since you only get one defensive action around you can force someone to burn their dodge / parry with weaker attacks leaving them open for larger ones... It's just an question is if it is better to avoid the current attack and eat a later one or eat a current attack and maybe dodge an attack that might not come...

Also it's what makes skills like "Wall of Steel" and "Steep Aside" so awesome, a second parry or dodge each round? YES PLEASE!

happy to help clear up some rules CM, I'm impartial that way... always good to help everyone with the little details that get lost.

Edit: Wish I knew how I managed to reach my limit on likes a day... didn't know I had one, till today....

Sorry about that CM, thought I was in the OOC thread for some reason...

This is for Xin and Reyner:

You can both quick draw as a free action, it is also a free action to drop your bolters (they will do you no good in CQB, as they are classed as basic weapons).

Reyner, you have the following options in CQB:

Bolt Pistol, using your BS with no +'s or -'s to make one attack.

Knife, using your WS to make one attack, can also be used to parry on your WS.

Bolt Pistol + Knife, both eat a -10 to hit on BS/WS respectively as you have ambidextrous but lack two weapon fighting ranged / melee.

Xin, you get the above, but you can use your claw of death to make a reactionary action in CQB for a metric ton of damage as well.

Good luck guy, may the Emperor guide you.
