+++ETL VI - WEEK 5 UPDATE+++

Week 5 is over and with that the teams are set. No new participants may enter this year’s ETL so the “human resources” for each Forum cannot be altered. It now falls upon those who took the oath to out-paint their rivals and emerge victorious on Aug 1st!

Let’s see in detail:

ETL VI – Week 5 overview

The ETL VI managed to attract 407 participants across all forums. It also some serious re-vowing with total vows reaching 466 implying some 23 second or third vows… The total points pledged at the end of the period stood at 338k and growing strong. Predictably, the average vow of the ETL declined further to 725pts vs. 760 pts last week. We are now past the 1/3 point of the event and we’re entering the most difficult period where the initial enthusiasm wanes and the end is still too far into the future to give us a sense of false security. In fact, the next 4 Weeks will be crucial as to which Forum or Faction will make the difference and which will run out of steam! By early July procrastination will have settled for good and it will take large quantities of self-discipline to return to the fray. So, my advice is: don’t relax – keep going! Maintain the pace and things will come naturally. Break the habit of regular painting and you’ll be facing your daemons come July!

Let’s see how the various Facitons/Forum did in Week 4:

The Astartes retain the lead with the Space Marineshaving 66 participants almost as many as IFOR or the Realm of Chaos. The relatively low average vow implies that there is no reliance on a particular vow and the risk is distributed among the participants making the end-result a more manageable task. I think they need to accelerate their completions though (and easier task than most given the low average vow) to leverage on their numerical advantage. The Blood Angelsand the Dark Angelsseem at par in terms of participants (45 each) with the BAs having considerably more vows while the DAs retain a higher average vow – but the gap is narrowing. Interestingly the BAs managed to increase their average vow by some higher point value re-vowing – that’s the way to play it. The DAs must get some completions and re-vowing done in order to narrow the gap of number of vows – but their lead in the average vow is not that large, so they cannot afford to see it drop. New vows must come at least at the current average and preferably higher. The Space Wolveshave the lowest participation among the Astartes with 29 participants, but their average vow remains the highest at 817pts. Here the recipe is simple, and the SW ETL veterans are familiar with it: Complete as early as possible and re-vow without lowering the (high) average vow. It requires a lot of discipline, but the past has shown that if anyone can pull this off it’s the SWs crowd!

The IFORhad an excellent running with 67 participants -equalling Chaos and beating the AoD and Xenos! Funnily enough, their re-vowing rate is exactly the same with the Realm of Chaos – which makes this a very tight rivalry indeed! However, where the two Factions differ significantly in average vow, putting IFOR in the lead by more than 15k points pledged! Obviously, the participation levels vary significantly between the IFOR Forums. The Sistershave already declared a completion and we’ve seen some re-vowing too. It is fairly important for the Sisters to achieve a high completion rate – especially given the low average vow (which does not necessarily translate to low model-count). The AdMechhave the second lowest average vow at this point, and with 13 participants it means that the name of the game is: quick completions and re-vowing – preferably with more point-rich vows. C’mon AdMech, the points are there for the taking! Astra Militarum(or the Guard for the Veterans) has asserted itself as the dominant Forum within the IFOR with 21 participants and an average vow above the ETL average. However, in terms of total points pledged they still lag compared to the Agentsas that Warlord tips the balance! I think that if Astra Militarum continues to do what they do at a reasonable re-vowing rate (which is not there yet) they may prove the favourite to win the Primus inter pares for the IFOR Faction. But, be that as it may, the dominant Forum of the IFOR remains the Agents – at least in terms of points pledged. With the average vow the highest in the ETL, their main task should be to complete their first vows. High completion rate among first vows will get them a long way. Grey Knightshave remained the Forum with the lowest participation in the ETL, which makes the two participants rather heroic in the eyes of the rest of the ETL players – if a bit lonely. Good luck to both – a 100% completion rate is expected! Lastly the Deathwatchhave an amazing presence in this year’s ETL, with 13 participants but with a fairly high average vow they are making their presence felt. I think here we also have a case where focusing on completing first vows should a priority over frantic re-vowing. The resources are there, make use of them!

Realm of Chaos has managed to equal IFOR in terms of participants and is one of the strong contenders for second place and with some serious re-vowing and high completion rate among first vows can threaten the top position! In fact, the re-vowing rate is at 10% right now – which is identical to the IFOR, although the latter has a higher average vow. I just want to point out that the Astartes have a 16% re-vowing rate, although at a lower average vow, which makes competition quite tense! So, the trick here is to focus on both quick first vow completions and re-vowing at higher points’ values. The highest burden of this effort lies with the Chaos Space MarinesForum – by far the most populous within the Faction, with 55 participants, 10 more than the BAs and DAs and 11 less than the Space Marines. Therefore, in terms of participation Chaos Space Marines do not suffer any significant disadvantage. Where their disadvantage lies is in the small average vow – some 120pts below the ETL average and the re-vowing rate of 11% which is not astronomical. However, both of those disadvantages can be overcome as we’re still in Week 5 out of a total of ca. 13.5 Weeks of the duration of the event. So high completion rates among first vows and large-scale re-vowing and higher points’ values is the trick! Chaos Daemonshave 4 participants and total points pledged of ca. 3,500 means one thing: aim for 100% completion! This will boost the Chaos Faction significantly. Just deliver on what you’ve promised to the Gods and glory awaits you! Which brings us to the Lost and the Damned. With 8 participants, the LatD have potential. Apart from their amazing collective painting talent, they also carry significant points for the Faction – almost 9k at present – and they also have the third highest vow in the game! That means that with some intense re-vowing, even at lower average vow, they can certainly boost their contribution to the Chaos cause and deliver a score that’s higher to forums like AdMech that have 50%+ more participants and even compete with the Tau that have also more participants but at present have a fairly similar average vow. Actually, beating the Tau could be a very worthy aim!

The Xenos are the newcomers to the B&C and it’s the first ETL they actually participate! As such I consider the participation of 41 people a great success and something we can build upon in the future – cultivating a strong painting culture among the various Xenos races! Currently their main weakness does not lie with participation levels but rather with the fairly low average vow. To be fair, the average vow, although nominally the lowest in the ETL is not that far behind the Real of Chaos so good news there. The Aeldariwith 10 participants have the highest concentration of “artisans” as opposed to “army builders” leading to generally high-quality painting but very low model-count and points. With an average vow of 312, the 100% completion rate is not only expected, it’s a popular demand! The Necronshave managed to also get 10 participants in with but their average more than double that of the Aeldari, they have some 7k points pledged. Here the key (as with all the Xenos Forums) is to complete first vows and re-vow fast in order to leverage their manpower as much as possible. It’s true that the Necrons do not enjoy the wealth of high point-cost units that the Tau (or the Aeldari or the Tyranids) which makes their vows more model-intensive on average. The Orksare a cheerful bunch (true to character) as their numerical disadvantage limits their options significantly. However, there is progress with completions and re-vowing so there is reasonable expectation that we’ll have another candidate for 100% completion rate!  The Tauon the other hand have their fair share of large scale models (the Manta and the Tau’nar come to mind) but also there is a lot of enthusiasm and commitment. The Tau seem to be in a very good shape to threaten the Primus Inter Pares position of the Xenos Faction and compete with Forums form other Factions such as the IFOR and the Realm of Chaos.
Lastly the Tyranidsseem to be in a similar vein to Orks both in participation levels, points pledged and average vow size. So, there is a potential rivalry here between bugs and greenskins? For sure I expect the Tyranids to do a 100% completion rate too, but more than that, if they are to beat the Orks then some re-vowing will be required – and do so at a higher rate than the Greenskins!

Lastly the AoDmanaged to recruit 47 participants. This may not look too impressive compared to other ETL heavyweights but what is impressive is the re-vowing rate that stands at 28% - by far the highest in the ETL! That means that the AoD are leveraging on their resources and combined with a fairly high average vow (some 140pts above the ETL average) are now putting forward almost 52k pts which places them marginally ahead of Chaos that has 20 more participants. Well played guys. The gap between loyalists and traitors is squarely in favour of the Loyalists (before the ETL I would have sworn it would be the other way around) with 5 more participants and almost 10k more points pledged. The high re-vowing rate implies a high completion rate among first vows, which is true with the AoD-L at a completion rate of 25% and the AoD with a completion rate of 28%. No wonder AoD leads in the score.

+++ETL VI - WEEK 7 UPDATE+++

Week 7 is over, and we are officially past the middle point of the event! Currently we have collectively completed 71,402pts which is roughly 1/5 of the total points pledged. Overall 19k pts were completed in the week, and they were promptly replenished with new vows of equal value.

As expected the Adeptus Astartes are in the lead but interestingly enough they are closely followed by the AoD with less than 400pts difference. Obviously the Astartes resources are vastly superior but that only matters if they complete their vows – something that historically has been a challenge. Be that as it may, Chaos and IFOR are pretty close too – although they have significant distance from the other two and Xenos are in the last position. Given the limited resources of the latter, it is imperative to achieve i) high completion rates especially among the first vows and ii) increase their re-vowing rate from 15% currently to at least double that.

Let’s see in detail:

SPACE MARINES:

The Space Marines is the Forum with the most resources than any other Forum – in fact they command more resources than entire other Factions. However, this is not enough. It all boils down to the utilization of said resources and further leveraging them up during the life of the event. Yes, they lead the Adeptus Astartes Faction (although not by much) but interestingly they lag behind the Chaos Space Marines Forum that has taken the overall lead by the end of Week 7. The key point here is re-vowing rate. Whereas the Space Marines have 26% the Chaos Marines have 30% - and that makes a difference. It goes without saying that this may change in the following weeks, but Space Marines need to be conscious that superior participation numbers cannot win them the ETL alone – consistent delivery on completions and re-vowing must go on in order secure the top position.

BLOOD ANGELS:

The Blood Angels had a relatively slow week, but they could afford it. With a re-vowing rate of 31% they utilise their resources quite effectively although the completion rate of 18% is about the average of the Faction. Their main weakness of the relatively low average vow seems now less important as the gaps keep narrowing as the event progresses. The best strategy for them going forward is to intensify the completions of first vows and keep re-vowing at roughly the same points’ values. If they can keep the pace, they are in a position to threaten the top!

DARK ANGELS:

The Dark Angels had some significant completions this week with the most important among them the fantastic Warhound Titan – an inspiring piece of work by Interrogator Stobz. As it stands now, the Dark Angels completion rate is the highest in the Adeptus Astartes Faction at 20% but the re-vowing rate is only 18% far below the Space Marines and even more so than the Blood Angels. What they need to be doing, is complete their first vows as early as possible and keep re-vowing, preferably at the same points’ value (or higher obviously). Procrastination cost the DAs dearly last year as they scrambled to complete their first vows very close to the end of the event, boosting their completion rate but depriving them of the opportunity to leverage on their resources with additional vows resulting in a low score. Let’s not repeat that this year…

SPACE WOLVES:

Space Wolves are highly depended on leveraging their resources through high re-vowing rates at high(er) points’ values. Unfortunately, this is not happening at this stage. The completion rate among first vows is just 13% and although the re-vowing rate is relatively high at 28% it’s not quite enough – especially when compared to the BAs with 30% and the SMs with 26% but with materially more resources. Furthermore, they also suffer from a lowering average vow that converges with the rest of the Faction – which means new vows come at lower points’ values. The overall 18% completion rate is respectable but their fewer resources means that action needs to be taken and it needs to be taken now!

ADEPTA SORORITAS:

All was silent in the Sisters front – at least when it comes to completions. There is however progress and given the small number of participants, it is normal to expect an uneven flow of events. Still, some completions should be forthcoming in the coming Week as we have crossed the mid-point of the event.

ADEPTUS MECHANICUS:

There was some progress for the AdMech this week but having virtually half the points of the Astra Militarum and the Agents of the Imperium, it means that they should really get moving. The re-vowing rate is not bad at all at 31% but the completion rate of 20% is not that strong – not if you have such a gap to close. It is very important that the completion rate among first vows must increase significantly as much as possible, allowing more and more AdMech players to re-vow. Mind you, re-vowing does not have to happen immediately upon completion of your first vow – but at least you’ll have the luxury to wait. If you do complete close to the end of the event, the high completion ratio alone won’t cut it, as absolute amounts will play a far more important part.

ASTRA MILITARUM:

The leaders of the IFOR faction with the highest score presently, they command the most resources in the Faction and they are doing fine in the metrics too. I guess, if there is a weakness, that’s the re-vowing rate of only 24%. The completion rate of 23% is fine but if you want to secure top position within the Faction or to complete with the strongest Forums outside IFOR, the key is to drive that re-vowing rate as high as possible. The average vow is fine, if manage to accelerate new vows at roughly the same average points you will certainly be the favourite for Primus Inter Pares IFOR and beat some other Forums too: You are pretty close to AoD-T, the Space Wolves for example.

AGENTS OF THE IMPERIUM:

Agents of the Imperium seem to have stopped working. A completion rate of 4% is extremely small for Week 7 and the re-vowing rate of 8% is really the work of one person: mooftak. Here there is only one advice: Start delivering on your promises. OK, I accept the fact that there are some big vows there (and I’m not only referring to the Warlord) so it may take longer to see completions but 4% completion rate by Week 7 is a bit of a concern. Remember guys you hold almost 20k worth of IFOR points that must be realised, or you’ll be hampering the Faction as well as your Forum!

GREY KNIGHTS:

Very little to add here: just two participants – all you need to do is aim for 100% completion rate!

DEATHWATCH:

I have the feeling that the Deathwatch is running out of steam – maybe the difficult period of June has affected them, maybe they like the World Cup too much, can’t say. Make no mistake, there is progress - but have yet to materialise into completions. Be that as it may, a completion rate of 17% and a re-vowing rate of 23% is on the weak side for Week 7 standards. I would expect a completion rate of ca. 10 percentage points higher and a re-vowing rate north of 30% in order to compete for the top position within the IFOR. Obviously, nothing is settled yet – not at all… But the next couple of Weeks should see an acceleration on both of those metrics to relieve the pressure. Or July can be really tough…

CHAOS SPACE MARINES:

Well, this was an interesting development. Despite having fewer participants than the Space Marines and fewer points pledged, Chaos Marines are currently ahead of them in the score (albeit by a thin margin). And with a completion rate of “only” 19%. The trick here is the higher average vow and re-vowing rate (30% vs. 26% for the SMs). An excellent performance to be sure but will it last? Or will the resources of the SMs weigh in at the end? There is no other way here, if Chaos Marines want to beat the SMs they must tirelessly complete first vows and re-vow at a higher rate than their rivals while maintaining their average vow to about the current levels. Easy? Nope!

CHAOS DAEMONS:

The Daemons were static this week. What is needed here is to see some completions as all the stats are driven by only one participant, namely Raven1. It’s high time to see some more delivering on their promise to the Dark Gods and some re-vowing to boot!

THE LOST AND THE DAMNED:

The progress made is not reflected on the numbers. There is a lot of WIP pictures and background activity, but nothing has come to the surface yet – vs. last week that is... The LatD have only a meagre 12% completion rate, among the lowest in the ETL at this point. The re-vowing rate of 25% looks good but it is a bit misleading as in absolute terms it means that the two people that completed their vows (couple of weeks ago) have re-vowed. But the quality shown on the WIPs is amazing – both on the assembly and the painting front! Just don’t allow the difficult month of June to grind you down.

AELDARI:

Well, there was a completion! That’s great as it puts the metrics of the Forum to motion: This completion translated to a completion rate for the Aeldari of 21% and a score of 148 making them the second-best score in the Xenos Faction. And there was a re-vow too which somewhat raised the average vow of the Forum! Well done Papewaio! So hopefully we’ll see some more completions coming out of the Aeldari camp, but given the attention to detail and the huge time investment that goes on each model, I think we should be patient…

NECRONS:

They are quietly doing the job. Although with half the points pledged compared to the Tau they have the highest completion rate in the Faction with 24% and the highest score! The re-vowing rate leaves something to be desired at 20% but I have the feeling this will soon change! In fact, if the completion rate, especially among first vows increases significantly the next couple of weeks and is followed by consistent re-vowing there is no reason not to challenge the first position within the Xenos Faction! The Tau may have something to say about it, but so far, they are pretty silent. Grab the opportunity to narrow the gap!

ORKS:

The Orks were in a stasis this past week. Nothing much happened no completions or re-vowing. The four die-hards of the Ork camp must focus on delivering a 100% completion rate at the end of the event to gain a moral victory and to aid the Xenos Faction to the maximum of their abilities. Just as a reminder: we’re half-way there!

T’AU EMPIRE:

The T’au are the apparent leaders of the Xenos Faction but it seems they have run out of steam. Yes, there is progress, yes there is a lot of WIP activity and high-quality painting. But the bottom line is that we are in Week 7 and the completion rate is just 7.5% - the second lowest in the ETL after the Agents. There are some big vows that may take some time to complete, granted, but still for a faction that has pledged 12.5k pts to have only completed less than 1k at the half-point of the event is a bit self-defeating. Imagine the re-vowing potential that goes wasted… And the space you give your rivals to build up resources through re-vowing and increased completion rates. I think Week 8 must be instrumental seeing some completed vows being reported-in and regaining the initiative.

TYRANIDS:

Again, much like the Tau and the Orks, Week 7 was silent for the Tyranids. With a completion rate of just 8% it definitely begs for some momentum build-up. The four of you have pledged 3.1k pts which compares to the Orks 3.6pts with the same number of participants. That’s a nice rivalry that can develop there: who’s going to have the highest score when the curtain drops?

AoD_L

One word: BRAVO! At the mid-point of the event, without commanding the highest number of participants or points pledged you have managed to i) have a completion rate of 30%, ii) a re-vowing rate of 38% and iii) maintain a high average vow. All those components led to AoD-L achieving the highest score in the ETL at the mid-point of the event. And not by a narrow margin either! You guys have shown the commitment and enthusiasm for which the AoD community is renowned and it delivered results. Congratulations, but keep it up. We have as much to go through as we have already done – so do not allow fatigue to settle in. Go forth and you may become the top Forum among all Forums irrespective of Faction!

AoD-T

Although not as strong as the AoD-L, the Traitors are at par with the traditional heavy-weights of SMs and CSMs with only a few tens of points difference. With an astonishing re-vowing rate identical to their loyalist cousins at 38% but with a completion rate of “only” 26% they may lag the AoD-L presently buty they have the resources to turn this around. But do they have the tenacity required for completing at re-vowing at a steady pace? June is the most difficult period but early July will also present a challenge! Go for it!

+++ETL VI - WEEK 8 UPDATE+++

Week 8 was markedly slower than Week 7 on the completions front. However, there was a lot of activity in the background which creates high hopes for Week 9. The total completed points increased by 12k to 83.6k and were replenished for the most part by 11k pts of new vows. As such total pledged points reached 384k.

The Astartes retain their first position in terms of ETL score with the Blood Angels taking the lead from the Space Marines – even if it was only for 45pts – which goes a long way to show that every little helps. In the second place, the AoD which had a fairly slow week, yet still have a score more than twice that of Chaos with their strong 31% completion rate. Chaos on the other hand, although 3rd, does not have a safety distance from the IFOR which is only 346pts behind and with a much lower completion rate. That means that i) IFOR has more points completed in absolute terms and ii) they have more resources available to them still. Lastly, the Xenos had a very, very slow week, with only 163pts completed among their 5 Forums… I sure hope they regain their momentum in Week 9 as the event is gradually entering its final stage.

No let’s see Week 8 in detail:

SPACE MARINES:

The Space Marines had a decent week, increasing their score 37% on a weekly basis. With a completion rate of 21.4% roughly spot on the ETL average, it means that they are closely following the trends but they have yet to take a substantial lead. But their absolute numbers come to their aid and keep their score relevant – if not in the top. Frankly not only they’ve lost the lead within the Astartes Faction, but they also have a lower score vs. the Chaos Marines and both AoD outposts. Granted, their difference is pretty small and easily recoverable, but this entails effort given that this is a dynamic situation and their rivals will not just sit back and wait for the SMs to catch up…

BLOOD ANGELS:

The Blood Angels had a very good week. With the highest completion rate among all Astartes and the highest score within the Faction (albeit with a small margin from the SMs) and with the most points completed in the week than any other Forum, they have every reason to feel good about themselves. More so since they are doing better than Chaos Marines! But the differences are small and can change easily in the span of a week. The key is to maintain their re-vowing rate (currently at 31%) at high levels – especially when compared with the SMs (re-vowing rate at 35%). But so far, so good…

DARK ANGELS:

The biggest weakness of the DAs is their low re-vowing rate. Completion rate among first vows is higher than the BAs (25.6% vs. 25.0%) and way above the SMs (20.7%) but their re-vowing rate is just 22% vs. 31% of the BAs or 35% of the SMs. So to all those who have completed their first vows and have not made a follow-up, now is the time – preferably without lowering the average vow of the Forum, which btw is dangerously converging towards the BAs levels…

SPACE WOLVES:

The SWs weakest point in the VERY low completion rate among first vows – just 13%! This is alarming to say the least. At this point, they should be looking at twice that in order to be at par with the rest of the Astartes Forums and more than that if they were to be threatening the top position. On the positive side, the SWs are trying correctly to lever up their resources through re-vowing and with a re-vowing rate of 31% they are certainly in the right track. But is it enough? I think they need to intensify their re-vowing but not by relying on those who re-vowed already to do even more re-vowing, but to those who have yet to complete their first vows, to do so and then re-vow as well – preferably at the same average vow points as the premium SWs enjoy is narrowing fast.

ADEPTA SORORITAS:

The Sisters continue to be silent… Some progress is recorded but no completions. Well, we are now in Week 9 so maybe some completions should be coming in…

ADEPTUS MECHANICUS:

A good week. The AdMech increased their completion rate from 20% to 28% and virtually doubled their score. Furthermore the completion rate among first vows is at 33% and the re-vowing rate at 38% - not a bad numbers at all! I guess the only advice here is to accelerate the first vow completions and go all out on the re-vowing rate. This strategy will pay more dividends if you manage to keep the average vow at roughly the same levels – or higher!

ASTRA MILITARUM:

The Astra Militarum remains the leader within the IFOR Faction with the most points pledged, the second highest completion rate (almost at par with the AdMech) and of course the highest score. The re-vowing rate is not that bad either at 29%. The interesting bit is that there is a lot of WIP activity at the moment which creates great expectations for next week. And remember, the “old” Guard is where the 100% completion rate target originated (although never achieved). Will this be the first time to do it? A good Week 9 could bring them at par with the Astartes’ Forums and Chaos and even the AoD – at least the Traitors.

AGENTS OF THE IMPERIUM:

Despite the AdMech and the Astra Militarum having a fairly good week the Agents just stood still. Literally. No completions in Week 8 at all. This is alarming and I hope it’s not the mid-event blues that hit them, as this is pretty difficult to snap out of. But think of that: The Agents have 29% of the total points pledged for the IFOR! Need I say more? And it’s not like they have a lead and they can afford to relax... With only 4% completion rate it feels like they have stopped participating altogether! I sure hope to see those Inquisitors and Custodes making an appearance soon – not to mention that Warlord Titan! C’mon guys we are now at Week 9 out of a total of 13 (and a few days).

GREY KNIGHTS:

Let’s go for that 100% completion rate guys!

DEATHWATCH:

So far July has been tough for the Deathwatch. Not a single completion in Week 8 and their stats are falling dangerously behind by now. Another important Forum for the IFOR with 19% of the pledged points that seems to be lagging behind. Interestingly there was a lot of WIP activity – especially in the last days of Week 8 which is a great leading indicator for Week 9. Hopefully we’ll see a big comeback for the brave Watch Masters to make up for the weak Week 8 performance. Remember the sooner you complete your vows the more time you have to re-vow and lever up your resources!

CHAOS SPACE MARINES:

Chaos Space Marines did not have a brilliant Week 8. Don’t get me wrong, it was OK with 1.5k pts completed but their overall completion rate of 22.5% is nothing to write home about. Still their score is not that bad as it compares with the SMs, the BAs and the AoD-T – all of which seem to compete for second place. Still, they can come on top, but it will take a much larger commitment than in the past, as their resources are not as vast as in previous years, and a lot will depend on the re-vowing rates. The re-vowing rate in Week 8 of 35% is again OK but it’s certainly not a leading one. The way I see it, Chaos is at an inflection point. If they increase their revs and start completing first vows (first vow completion rate stands at 20% - not impressive) whilst keep re-vowing at roughly similar average points then they can contend for the top. If they continue to do “OK” and rely on the more motivated among them to re-vow they will not get far. So if there was one thing to pay attention to it’ll be to increase the first vow completion rate!

CHAOS DAEMONS:

The Daemons were static for a second week. I think it’s high time to see some completions if you people want to have ample time to consider follow-up vows. I know, the combination of mid-of-the-event blues and the World Cup is not a particularly favourable one, but now is the time to persist and deliver!

THE LOST AND THE DAMNED:

The LatD were also static this week. Sure there is a lot of WIP activity so it is reasonable to expect that next week things will change to the better but time is running out. Let’s see some completions guys so you can have the time to cow again!

XENOS

The is little point of making the same remarks for each forum as the performance was roughly similar: 4 out of 5 forums did not report a single completion in Week 8 and the one that did (the Tau) was for 164pts. It seems that the mid-ETL procrastination hit the Xenos hard.  I sure hope they wake up though because the sooner you finish your vows, the more time you’ll have to consider making a follow up!

AoD_L

AoD-L retains their leading position in the event with the highest score among all individual forums. The re-vowing rate is now 42% the second highest in the ETL (the highest is AoD-T) a completion rate of 33% the highest in the ETL and a very high average vow of 916. Their weak point is that they “only” added 720pts this week so their lead is sort of narrowing. But this was the most difficult week so far, so yeah, could have been worse. The thing is that AoD-L does not command the resources that other Forums have which means fewer people must do more. So no respite, keep delivering and you are on your way to claim the top position!

AoD-T

Although their loyalist cousins are on the lead, the real stars of Week 8 were the AoD-T. Adding more than 2.3k they were only surpassed by the BAs (and that by only 93 pts) and a frenzied re-vowing rate of 48% - by far the highest in the ETL they have managed to remain a contender for second position against Forums with significantly more resources and quite possibly go for the top if they mobilise everyone to complete their first vow (and then move on to a second one possibly?). Be that as it may, I think congratulations are in order. Keep it up guys!

+++ETL VI - WEEK 9 UPDATE+++

Week 9 was way more productive than Week 8 with 29k worth of completed points vs. just 12k last week. We have also collectively surpassed the 100k pts threshold arriving at 113k pts while total points pledged are fast approaching the 400k mark (in fact it may have been surpassed by now.

This week I identified two mistakes that I made. The first was that I had incorrectly counted Mad Santa in the BA team in my spreadsheet (instead of SM) and the second was that I did not count Draegher’s completions in the AoD-T; both of which are now corrected.

So, as far as factions go, the SMs still lead but by a much more narrow margin vs. the AoD of just 1.2k pts. Chaos is third and the Xenos and the Forces of the Imperium are pretty close to each other despite the Astra Militarum’s excellent performance

So let’s see Week 9 in detail:

E TENEBRAE LUX VI – Week 9

SPACE MARINES:

To put it simply, the SMs have lost their momentum. They have only reported 462pts completed in Week 9 and their completion rate marginally increased by 0.6 of a percent. This appears to be a recurring pattern throughout the ETLs: a lot of enthusiasm in the beginning with high participation and a lot of promise, yet somewhere in the middle of the event the momentum dissipates and the final results are less than stellar. Will this year break the spell? The SMs have the most resources so an about average completion rate should get them a long way. Unfortunately, right now, they are lagging the ETL average completion rate by more than 6 percentage points... Let’s see in the last 3 weeks of the event a comeback or face disappointment! The best tip here is to focus on completing first vows as the completion rate for the first vows is just 20%.

BLOOD ANGELS:

Amazing performance! They have the highest completion rate within the Astartes Faction and this is reflected in their significantly higher score that lands then in the third position overall. Their re-vowing rate is also the strongest in the Astartes context at 39% – although by no means among the strongest in the ETL overall and not that much better vs. the SMs (36%) or the SWs (34%). So the strategy here is (apart from completing the first vows of course – this applies for all Forums) to intensify re-vowing. Other than that, things look good for the BAs!

DARK ANGELS:

Although completion rate among first vows is somewhat better than the BAs at 30% the re-vowing rate is much, much lower at just 24% - the lowest within the Astartes Faction. Even so, their score is better than the SMs (if marginally so) but that still puts them in 6thposition overall in terms of score. They also suffer from a very low completion rate among second vows at only 10% vs. 40% of the BAs, 22% of the SMs and 100% of the SWs! I never thought I’d advise that, but the weakest point presently is the completion rate of second vows. However, historically (and that applies to all Forums) when the event is over the completion rate in second vows is generally very high so this is not such a big worry in itself. The big worry is that if the completions of second vows come late, the chances of third vows is diminishing (and currently is zero). As such, second vow completions become critical for Week 10.

SPACE WOLVES:

The SWs continue to suffer from abysmally low first vow completion rate at only 13%. True they currently have a spectacular 100% completion rate in second vows and 63% completion rate in third vows but the bulk of the points remain with the first vows. And lack of completions there translates in limited ability to leverage their resources through subsequent vows. Yes the re-vowing rate is not bad at 31% but the fact of the matter is, the SWs need to do much better than the average as they have the lowest participation among the Astartes and they really depend on that leverage. Let’s hope Week 10 will increase their first vow completions substantially and see a new wave of second vows!

ADEPTA SORORITAS:

The silence of the Sisters… We haven’t seen a completion since Week 5!!! Let’s see some completions guys!

ADEPTUS MECHANICUS:

There was some activity this week but nothing ground-breaking. Adding 550-odd points is definitely a positive but the completion rate of 33% is on the low side – especially for a forum like the AdMech where leveraging their initial strength is of paramount importance. With only 13 participants the high re-vowing rate is what will make the difference. For that reason, the 33% completion rate among first vows is not as high in real terms as it looks. Completing fast and re-vowing should be the order of the day!

ASTRA MILITARUM:

Tremendous effort, adding more than 3.2k pts on the week and more than doubling the forum’s score to 3.7k from 1.5k in Week 8. The completion rate at 41% is among the highest in the ETL, and the re-vowing rate is nothing to sneer at either at 33%. However the weak point is the completion rate of first vows at an indifferent 24%. It is worth noting that among those who completed the first vow 71% proceeded in making a second vow. Yet, a third of first vows have been completed at this point. So focus on first vows completions and drive up that re-vowing rate.

AGENTS OF THE IMPERIUM:

The Agents start to worry me. They have not reported a completion since Week 6 and that is only 37 pts. The score is so low that any advice other than get some completions done is irrelevant. Seriously guys, you pledged some 22k points, it’s time to see some of them registering completions. A better performance from the Agents will move the needle big time in getting the IFOR to beat Chaos. Will Week 10 make the difference?

GREY KNIGHTS:

There is progress; hopefully we’ll get that 100% completion rate!

DEATHWATCH:

There is no doubt that there is progress. The completion rate climber 3 percentage points on the week to 20%. But 20% is nothing to write home about by Week 9. The Deathwatch seriously needs to get their completion rate higher especially among first vows (currently only 14%). There are some heavy-duty vows in there – a few key-completions will make a big impact! Will Week 10 deliver the goods? We’ll see…

CHAOS SPACE MARINES:

What a comeback! To put it simply: They are in the lead! With a 37% completion rate (not the highest) and a re-vowing rate of 45% (strong but again not the highest) the Chaos Marines have managed to utilize their resources efficiently enough to come out on top in terms of score. Congratulations! Now keep in mind though that as we approach the end of the event your main rivals will undoubtedly increase their output – so keep that fantastic momentum going! Some damn fine work too!

CHAOS DAEMONS & THE LOST AND THE DAMNED:

Both of these forums did not record any completions in Week 9 but that’s not to say there is no progress – especially in the Lost and the Damned camp. But, be that as it may, both of these two Forums are starting to lag in terms of metrics. With 18% completion rate for the Daemons and 12% for the LatD things start to look… abandoned. I have the feeling though, seeing the progress, that Week 10 will change this. C’mon guys, look at the progress the Chaos Marines are doing…

XENOS

The Xenos saw a reversal of fortunes in Week 9. First of all the Necrons added 1,673pts to their total recording the highests completion rate in the ETL to this point! Congratulations to team Necron – this was a spectacular turn of events. Suffice to say that with that high a completion rate they currently lead the Xenos forums in terms of score. The other noteworthy event was the completion of a T’au Manta by Vay – a new member in the B&C boards. I strongly suggest you pay a visit and have a look – not something you see every day, certainly not here in the B&C! Congratulations Vay! This was not the only T’au completion though. In total the T’au added some 2.9k pts driving their total completed points to slightly above 4k – more than any other Xenos Forum. Yet their completion rate is some 10 percentage points lower than that of the Necrons leaving the latter at the top. Interestingly we had completions from the Ork camp too. Good progress guys – keep it up: 100% completion rate is totally achievable! The Aeldari and the Tyranids did not record any completions although some progress in the Aeldari camp was reported. And some bats. White ones. See for yourself if you don’t believe me.

AoD_L

What happened? No completions in Week 9? Seriously? I mean, you’re still alright, but in fifth place… the 33% completion rate is really mediocre – especially if you want to play for the top position. And the Traitors overtook you in absolute terms – let alone ETL score. You really need to get back on track and start finishing up your first vows (31% completion rate among first vow is not strong – not for you guys anyway). The re-vowing rate is alright but first vows are the key. I have the feeling that Week 10 will either get you back in the game or leave you dangerously behind. I sure hope it’ll be the former.

AoD-T

What on earth happened here? Almost 5k pts worth of completions in a single Week? Wow! Well, OK, some of it had to do with my mistake of not recording Draegher’s completions on time so it looks more impressive than it is. But still it’s damn impressive. And the quality of the work is amazing!!! As it stands now, the AoD-T is second only to Chaos Marines by almost 1,100pts. A big gap to close – especially as the Chaos crowd seems very committed – but so are you guys! When your resources are markedly less than your rivals you must resort to recycling them, i.e. make vows again and again from the same limited pool of people. And you have done so excellently – not only sporting a re-vowing rate of 57% (by far the highest in the ETL) but at significant points’ value too! The average vow of the AoD-T is above 1k increasing by 85pts on a weekly basis! By comparison, the average vow for Chaos Marines increased by only 14pts whereas the BAs increased by 18 pts. This makes a difference – especially if you’re the underdog. Congratulations and keep it up!

+++ETL VI - WEEK 10 UPDATE+++

Week 10 was not as productive as Week 9 but still delivered 14k pts worth of completions. Total completed points rose to 127k while total points pledged surpassed the 400k mark reaching 408k. That in turn implies an overall completion rate of 31%.

On a Faction level, we had two surprises: 1) the Adeptus Astartes moderate performance with a completion rate below 30% and total score of 12.6k and 2) the stellar performance of the AoD Faction that is now leading the ETL with a completion rate of 43.8% and a score of 13.3k! Chaos is still very strong with a score of almost 8k pts but with a lot of firepower still and the IFOR with a completion rate of just 23.2% (the lowest among the 5 Factions) and a score of 4.2k. Last is the Xenos but with a completion rate of 32.8% vs. and a score of 3.4k.

SPACE MARINES:

Space Marines are starting to be the weak link in the Astartes Faction. The have the most points pledged, yet they have the lowest completion rate of only 23%. Week 11 will be by far the most crucial for the Forum as completing a vow in Week 11 will still allow for a couple of weeks for a meaningful follow-up vow. Right now, in terms of ETL score, they lag behind not only the BAs and the DAs (and the SWs are pretty close too) but also behind the Astra Militarum, Chaos Space Marines (oh, the shame) and both AoD Forums (well, Outposts rather). And Necrons are pretty close too! So shape up and let’s see some serious completions in Week 11 or you’ll be in a very difficult position in the closing days of the event.

BLOOD ANGELS:

The BAs continue to lead the Astartes Faction in terms of score, at 5.2k and have a significant distance from the second (the DAs) of 2.2k pts. Truth is that despite having the lowest average vow (which is not that low anyway) they have more than made up for it with the highest re-vowing rate of 50% and also have the highest completion rate of the Faction! Congratulations for the fighting spirit and methodical work – you’ve been productive and focused, even during the difficult month of June and early July. Keep it up and you stand a good chance of becoming Primus Inter Pares of the Astartes Faction and why not getting the top position all forums in the ETL (you’re currently in third place behind Chaos Marines and AoD-T)!

DARK ANGELS:

DAs are second in the Astartes Faction, plagued by the lowest re-vowing rate of just 24%. Their completion rate among first vows is fine at 31.6% when compared to the BAs of 31.8% but the lack of follow-ups has a cost and that is that makes the difference. At this point the DAs must focus on two areas: completion rate of second vows (only 9.7% vs. 32.5% for the BAs) and make more second or subsequent vows (for instance there is no third vow yet in the DA camp compared to 5 relatively big third vows and even a fourth vow for the BAs). Oh, and you should not fall behind in first vows too… So, in essence, attack on all fronts!

SPACE WOLVES:

The SWs had some progress in Week 10 staying in touch with the rest of the Astartes Forums. Despite having the fewer resources from all other Astartes, the SWs have a “decent” 26% completion rate that leads to a score only 700pts behind the SMs. However, given the fewer resources, that is not enough. They need to apply a multiplier effect of second as subsequent vows following a higher-than-average first vow completion rate. Unfortunately, right now, the completion rate among first vows is just 19%. Here’s the strategy going forward: for Week 11 there should be a substantial increase in the first vow completion rate – let’s face it, unless you get some first vows under your belt, the leveraging potential via second or subsequent vows will remain limited. And to press the point home, you’ve managed the current score with a staggering 91% completion rate among 2ndvows and 63% completion rate among 3rdvows. What is really keeping you behind is the relatively low 1stvow completion rate.

ADEPTA SORORITAS:

Although there were some updates we still haven’t seen a completion here since Week 5!!! It’s time to see some completions guys!

ADEPTUS MECHANICUS:

An interesting development here is that there were no completions but a follow-up vow has managed to decrease the completion rate and thus the score. However this should be treated as a timing issue and its effect will be ironed out once completions are reported. However completions were not reported... The re-vowing rate is not bad at 54% and the completion rate for second vows of 66% is fine too. The completion rate of first vows though, is the key. Granted 33% is OK at face value but a Forum with limited resources such as AdMech, it heavily relies on leveraging up their first vows as fast as possible. So for Week 11 the focus should be in completing as many first vows as you can – put solid completions under your belt and you’ll see your score skyrocketing!

ASTRA MILITARUM:

The great effort continues! With an overall completion rate of 41%, a re-vowing rate of 48% an average vow of 721pts the Guard is making an impact for sure. If only the other IFOR Forums had a similar performance, things would be very different. There is though a problem – and is one that needs to be addressed ASAP: The low completion rate among first vows of just 24%. The overall picture is saved by the fact that some hefty follow-up vows are completed already (completion rate for 2ndvows at 73% and for 3rdvows at 93%) but this only serves to overlook the actual problem. So the main aim for Week 11 is to see more first vows completed – and who knows, maybe the re-vowing rate will go through the roof!

AGENTS OF THE IMPERIUM:

The picture here is somewhat worrying. There are a lot of points tied in this Forum and so far the turnover of completions leaves something to be desired. With a completion rate of just 4.5% it looks as if the Agents are not in the game anymore… The question is, is it too late? Well the answer is no, it’s too late! But you need to get moving. There is no reason to discuss second or third vow not does it make sense to discuss about re-vowing and completion rates. Just complete the vows that are already pledged. And if Week 11 is really rich in completions then we can see if there is enough time to lever-up the score with a wave of second vows. Just do it!

GREY KNIGHTS:

I see the progress but completions are still elusive. I sure want to see that 100% completion rate!

DEATHWATCH:

Again some progress recorded but the completion rate of 26% is far from inspiring – especially given the fact that the completion rate among first vows is 21%. The thing is that the heaviest vows (those above 1k pts) still remain incomplete. A few key completions will indeed make a difference – not only by adding points but by boosting the completion rate and thus the score. Time is running out – let’s see those first vows completed!

CHAOS SPACE MARINES:

Chaos Space Marines remain very strong – indeed they are the second strongest Forum in the ETL by the end of Week 10. With significant resources to begin with and with an above-average completion rate of 39%, a re-vowing rate of 53% and an average vow of a very manageable 615pts they sure look as a good contender for the top. What really holds them back is, like in most cases, first vow completions. So 40% of first vows have been completed and they represent 35% of the points pledged in the first vows. The total completion rate reaches 39% due to the subsequent vows. So let’s see some fist vow completions and see the Chaos Marines really take-off!

CHAOS DAEMONS & THE LOST AND THE DAMNED:

The Daemons seem very sluggish indeed as they have to report a completion since Week 4!!! This is really the long sleep! You really need to get back to active mode guys – time is running out! The LatD on the other hand did report a completion which is very welcome but… The completion rate is still 20% - a very low level for Week 10 standards. So there is no other way now, just dive in and complete your pledges!

XENOS

For the Xenos Forums the picture is a mixed one. The Aeldari still did not report any completions – although some progress was reported, but where things really take shape is with the Necrons that currently lead the Faction with a comfortable margin. This is due to the fact that they have the highest completion rate in the event at 53%! So that has led to a total score of more than 2k despite the fact that, on absolute terms, they lag behind the Tau that have completed some 70pts more. Such is the case though, that for the Tau these completions translate to a completion rate of just below 30% resulting in a much more subdued score. However we should bear in mind that this “low” completion rate maybe a product of timing as many sizeable vows appear to be close to completion. But the completions are not yet here so the risk still exists. As for the Orks and the Nids, the week was pretty silent. At this point I really need to raise the alarm for the Tyranids though, as the Orks seem to have a slow by steady progress with a completion rate of 36% but the Tyranids have only 8%. This is really low for Week 10 guys – c’mon let’s see some completions for the bugs!

AoD_L

The Loyalists had some completions in Week 10 leading to a respectable score of 4.4k which places them in 5thposition. Here it is a matter of pure and simple first vow completions. You seem to have lost momentum and overly rely on the few driven persons that make follow-up vows. Although high completion rates in second and subsequent vows is a welcome development, nothing beats first vow completions that currently stand at an unimpressive 31%. And given that AoD-L does not command the resources of, say, SMs or CSMs, it makes the need for first vow completions early on instrumental in order to capitalise on second vows. Now let’s see those first vows completed and the completion rate boost your score!

AoD-T

The stars of the ETL – without a doubt. Starting with limited resources they have climbed through consistent work not only to beat the AoD-L but also every other Forum by Week 10. With the highest completion rate of 52% (54% among first vows) and a re-vowing rate of 67% they seem to have the highest momentum across all Forums!!! And there is still substantial backlog to deal with in the coming weeks. So keep it up and make sure you do not stop to rest – the final weeks of the ETL are notorious for turning the tables! As it stands, you are the main force behind the AoD being the leading Faction at this point – even beating the Astartes. Congratulations guys!

+++ETL VI - WEEK 11 UPDATE+++

Week 11 was pretty productive with 27k pts completed rising the total of the ETL to 154k worth of completed points. That translates to a completion rate of almost 37% and a score of 56.7k

On a Faction level the situation is very interesting as Adeptus Astartes completion rate jumped to above 37% securing again first position due to their vast resources. More interestingly though, IFOR has dropped to the last position among the 5 factions in terms of score as they have the lowest completion rate in the ETL **Agents?**. Therefore, they have been overtaken by the Xenos as we’ve seen some fantastic completions by the Necrons, Tau and Orks – and more are in the pipeline! In second position is AoD mostly driven by the Traitors that have been is a production frenzy – imagine what would happen if the Loyalists catch up! Realms of Chaos are in third position despite the stellar performance of the Chaos Marines as Daemons and LatD remain somewhat static.

Remember, we’re getting very close to the end now – the next update (Week 12) will be the last as Week 13 is so close to the end it would be like giving away the final results. So, use your time effectively and wrap it up ASAP!

I will now further analyse Week 11 results:

SPACE MARINES:

The Space Marines seems like they have woken up and delivered some very crucial completions, more than doubling their score. However, their completion rate is still not that high and remains below the ETL average. Given their huge resources, even an average completion rate would do wonders to their score. As it stands now they are way behind Chaos Marines, the Blood Angels and AoD-T while AoD-L is very close behind them and the DAs not that far behind either! So, will Week 12 be the time to flex their muscles? We’ll see…

BLOOD ANGELS:

The Blood Angels are having a spectacular performance! Not only they managed to increase their average vow but, most importantly, they have a re-vowing rate of 55% that has a multiplied effect on their numbers. And of course, they also have a completion rate of 49% - the highest by far within the Astartes Faction and second only to Orks (50%) that only have 4 players though and the AoD-T (51%). You must realise though, the in the last couple of weeks everything is bound to change in a significant way – so no time to relax… The big effort lies ahead not behind, so keep at it! Well done so far guys, well done!

DARK ANGELS:

With a completion rate of only 33.7%, the DAs are significantly hampered. Since they do not command the resources of the SMs they seriously need to step up their effort. Their re-vowing rate is pretty low at 29% and as long as those first vows are not getting completed the weight fall on the first vows. Remember the first vows hold the bulk of the points in all factions so let’s see more of those getting done in Week 12… And frankly, completing second vows is also a priority as the completion rate among those is only 33%... Any second or subsequent vows left undone will mean that all previous vows are also getting nullified will count for nothing. Time is running out brothers.

SPACE WOLVES:

The main issue with the SWs is the lack of completions of first vows. I don’t know why this is but the completion rate among first vows is just 19%. Their second vows have a staggering 91% completion rate and third vows a very strong 63% completion rate. But the first vows contain some 25k pts whereas the second vows are only 2.7k and the third vows 0.9k. You see where I’m going with that? The overall completion rate is just 30%, materially below the ETL average. Week 12 MUST make a difference in the first vows completion rate, or, no matter the performance of the subsequent vows, there is a limited room to make a difference. Currently (end of Week 11), the SWs have a score that is comparable to Forums with much less resources but are way more productive like the Necrons, and the Astra Militarum and one might argue the AoD-L.

ADEPTA SORORITAS:

There were some completions in the Sisters camp – but as time is running out, it’s high time to see some solid completions here too. C’mon guys, let’s make Week 12 count!

ADEPTUS MECHANICUS:

The AdMech had some completions too but it’s time to make a sprint now. The completion rate of 32% is not only kept back by the first vows (completion rate there is 40%) but from subsequent vows too. There are indeed some hefty vows in the second vows and even more so in the third vows. You re-vowing rate has been quite strong at 62% but some key completions in the First vows will propel the AdMech to significant highs – even challenging the Astra Militarum which currenly leads the Faction. So, wrap it up and let’s see where you stand by the end of Week 12… Your re-vowing rate has been quite strong at 62% so completions among all vows is now key.

ASTRA MILITARUM:

The leaders of the Faction, they are producing some interesting results: Completion at 40% is quite strong but by no means among the strongest in the ETL – again the main culprit here is the low completion if first vows (only 24%). If that takes off, then the impact on the score would be very significant! The completion rates in second and third vows is north of 70% so there is no problem there. What the Guard desperately needs is to see those first vows completed and this must be done fast – remember we are already in Week 12!

AGENTS OF THE IMPERIUM:

Guys, let me put it thus: with a completion rate of 4% in Week 11 things look bleak. Here there is no particular strategy, just complete whatever vows you already have as soon as possible. No time to think of second or subsequent vows – just get cracking and get whatever you have pledged completed before the end of the event!

GREY KNIGHTS:

Progress is coming along nicely. I think that 100% completion rate is within your grasp – let’s go for it!

DEATHWATCH:

Deathwatch is also lagging. With a completion rate of 27%, it’s way below the ETL average and the completion rate among first vows is just 21%. There are some very significant vows well above the 1k mark still pending that could change the fate of Deathwatch significantly. A few such completions will undoubtedly lead the Deathwatch to new heights pretty fast. It just needs to be done fast as time is running out. Let’s make Week 12 count! Remember, a good performance on a Forum level will also help tremendously on a Faction level too…

CHAOS SPACE MARINES:

Chaos Space Marines currently lead the ETL – a just position given the amount of effort that the Forum has invested! All the metrics are very strong (completion rate 45%, re-vowing rate 60%, total score in Week 11 at 10.6k) BUT they still have not put a safe distance between them and the BAs or the AoD-T. And why is that? Again, first vows… The completion rate among first vows is “only” 35% and that keeps the entire Forum somewhat back. Truth is, Chaos Marines command more resources than their main rivals which means even a more moderate performance can lead to them securing the top position. But the couple more remaining weeks will inevitably intensify the competition and I think the Forum to watch would be Space Marines – as a pick-up in their completion rates combined with their superior resources could see a big change of fortunes at the finish line. So keep the momentum going and let’s see some of the first vows getting done to solidify the current top position and make it even more difficult for your rivals to challenge you!

CHAOS DAEMONS & THE LOST AND THE DAMNED:

The Daemons and the LatD need to step up their game. You need a wave of completions to get your completions rates at par with the ETL average, so it’s high time to see some of them in Week 12. High completion rates will also do wonders for the Faction in general which is now only in third position behind the Astartes and the AoD. Use your remaining time as effectively as you can!

XENOS

The Xenos positively surprised in Week 11. Necrons, Orks and Taus seem to be very active and deliver completions or continued updates. That is also reflected in their scores, especially in the Necrons camp that currently leads the Faction by a large margin and have the highest completion rate in the ETL to this point at north of 60%. Still, Tau can easily close the gap by mobilising their superior resources – especially some mega-vows that are in the development – so there should be no respite. On the subject of Tau, yes, there are some mega vows in the making but the bulk is smaller vows is what will make the big difference. So, get cracking! Orks can also make a positive surprise if the three out of the four participants report their first vows complete – this would be a huge boost and the 100% completion rate is in their crosshairs! The Tyranids are in a similar position – only one completion so far out of four participants! It’s very easy to see a jump in their score here, just completer what you have pledged and magically, things will happen! The Aeldari have been plagued from the start with low average vow and relatively small participation – but the flip side is that the vows are (in principle) more manageable to complete… I think it’s high time to see some of them done!

AoD-L

The Loyalists are having some completions, true, but with a completion rate of 37% among first vows (vs. 54% for the AoD-T) they still lag behind their Traitorous rivals. And that’s the key. AoD-L commands more resources and a smaller increase in their completion rate will undoubtedly result in significant gains. Week 11 is already over, so time is becoming an issue. At this point the AoD-L is in 5thposition overall – just behind the Space Marines… And it is much easier for them to achieve higher completion rates being a tighter knit group and a, dare I say, a more driven one. So let’s get those completions (especially among first vows) done in Week 12 and you’ll even be able to beat the AoD-T – there is nothing else holding you back!

AoD-T

I have to say that the level of commitment in AoD-T has been the surprise of the ETL so far! With fairly limited resources they have worked with dedication delivering not only timely completions but very high-quality work too… Great completion rates and also in the pipeline two – not only among first vows but also in second vows too! Keep going guys – you’re are in third position overall but extremely close to Chaos Marines and the BAs! Everything can change in Week 12 – so keeping up the momentum is paramount! Terrific stuff!

+++ETL VI - WEEK 12 UPDATE+++

THIS IS THE LAST WEEKLY UPDATE BEFORE THE OFFICIAL CLOSING OF THE EVENT

As per tradition, there is no Weekly Update for Week 13 as it is so close to the end of the event. The ETL VI officially ends on August 1stat 17:00 GMT, so keep that in mind and organise your work accordingly.

So this is the end of Week 12 – the most productive week of the ETL so far with 50.5k pts added leading to a total of 205k pts. The overall completion rate stood at 48%.

On a Faction level, the Astartes lead mostly on the back of the BAs spectacular performance with the AoD coming second (with a big margin) as the Loyalists are narrowing the gap with the Traitors – the latter having one of the highest completion rates in the event. Realm of Chaos is in third position as the Chaos Marines strong performance is still hampered by relatively low first vows completions and the Daemons and the LatD have yet to reach the desirable completion rates. IFOR is in fourth position led by the Astra Militarum and the AdMech but kept back by the Imperial Agents and the Deathwatch – while the Grey Knights have already achieved the 100% completion rate! Lastly the Xenos are a bit lagging behind despite the strong completion rates of the Necrons and the Orks. However the Tau are very close to register a significant jump in their score – it just did not happen by Week 12 – so some surprises may still come…

An overall advice at this point of the event: Forget strategy and long term planning, now is the time to act! Complete your outstanding vows and see what happens – completion rates is all that matters right now!

I will now further analyse Week 12 results:

SPACE MARINES:

The Space Marines have certainly intensified their efforts since Week 11 but remain way below their potential. With 67 participants and 99 vows pledged, they could be the undisputed leaders of ETL VI but, as it stands now, they have the lowest average vow save the Aeldari and a completion rate of just 37% or 10 percentage points below the average of the ETL. The core of the problem is the low completion rate among first vows (32%) that impedes re-vowing and thus, re-vowing rate stands at “only” 49%. Still, a determined counter-attack in the last week of the event can turn the low average vow into a significant advantage as smaller vows are, generally speaking, more manageable to complete. So no more procrastination, the SMs had the most resources for the most part of the event and even now, in the last week, they are still formidable and can turn the tables. Just complete what you said you would!

BLOOD ANGELS:

And excellent performance throughout the ETL this year – but it’s not over yet. The BAs have by the end of Week 12 the highest score in the ETL if by only a SINGLE point ahead of Chaos Marines! This close a competition has never, ever occurred before in any ETL! No the truth of the matter is, that the BAs have expended more of their resources to achieve this with a completion rate of 63.6%. Still there is a lot of firepower still available to see them through in the next few days! Also, your position as leaders of the Astartes Faction seems pretty safe but it is not unheard of to have great fluctuations in Week 13 of even in the couple of days following Week 13 until the end of the event. Especially if your rival is the SMs that should they flex their muscles could have the tables turned. So keep the pace and never relax until it’s all over!

DARK ANGELS:

The situation is grim. We are currently in second place within the Astartes Faction but we’re pretty close to the SMs (less than 200pts) and they have superior resources. Furthermore, the BAs have managed to put a huge distance between us and them as is reflected by the more points pledged, the higher re-vowing rate (BAs: 68%, DAs: 33%) and ultimately the completion rate. The core of the issue is first vow completions. The completion rate of the first vows for the BAs stands at 62% whereas for the DAs is only 39%. So let’s complete the second and subsequent vows of course but the most important thing is that we see more first vows completed in this last week of the ETL. May the Lion be with us!

SPACE WOLVES:

The Space Wolves have the most limited resources in the Astartes Faction and unfortunately the most underutilised ones… Truth is that the SWs traditionally suffered by low participation vs. the rest of the Astartes but they partially made up for it through big vows and relatively high completion rates. At present, the SWs average vow remains higher than the average of the Faction (and the ETL in general) but the completion rate is pretty low as is the re-vowing rate of 45%. Brothers, there are a lot of points tied in the first vows and yet the first vows completion rate is a fairly low 27%! Work on that as we are running out of time and make sure no second or subsequent vow remains unfinished as this will have significant impact on your score…

ADEPTA SORORITAS:

We’ve seen some completions in Week 12 but I’m sure the Sisters can do better! The completion rate could easily climb to the high end of the ETL and why not hit 100%? Right now only two participants have reported completions – isn’t it time for the rest of you to step in? Let’s hope productivity will improve in the remaining time.

ADEPTUS MECHANICUS:

The AdMech had a good week with their completion rate jumping form 36% to 60% and climbing to the second position within the IFOR Faction. That is a great performance by any standards. Having said that, the clock is still ticking and there is no reason not to achieve and even higher score in the reaming week. Make sure some outstanding second vows are completed and hopefully we’ll also see the first vows’ completion rate rising from the current 44%. As in most cases, first vows’ completions are the key. So let’s go guys – you may even get first position in the IFOR – it all hinges on the completion rate!

ASTRA MILITARUM:

Astra Militarum still remains the leaders of the IFOR but their lead has narrowed significantly due to a very determined AdMech! Frankly with a completion rate of 45% there is not much to brag about – only their far superior resources are keeping them in the first place. So if you want to secure your position and even threaten Forums outside the IFOR, the time to complete your pledges is now! Seriously, only 26% of the points of your first vows have been completed. The heroic individuals who vowed again and again can only do so much – a good performance depends on first vows completions; so grab the opportunity to complete those first vows in the remaining week and secure your leading position!

AGENTS OF THE IMPERIUM:

The Agents have pledged almost 22k pts in this ETL and up to now have reported completions of just 3.2k pts. At this point, this is the second lowest completion rate in the ETL after the Tyranids… We have a week guys – make it count: complete everything you can be it first vow or second vow there is no time to procrastinate! IFOR greatly depends on you to climb the rankings and you have the potential to threaten the top position within the IFOR – just make a spectacular last minute effort to save the day!

GREY KNIGHTS:

100% completion rate. ‘Nuff said! Chapter 666 is the boss!

DEATHWATCH:

No completions reported in Week 12. That means that the remaining few days is all the time you have to rectify the situation. You have a completion rate of only 27% which means that you have enormous upside. And for what I understand there are quite a few vows very close to completion. Make the effort guys – this is it!

CHAOS SPACE MARINES:

Interesting, very interesting… You are in second place after the BAs BY ONLY ONE POINT! This has never happened before, so it’s kind of exciting… But things are bound to change and you know it; the question is whether they will change in your favour or not. First off, there are quite a few second and subsequent vows outstanding at the moment which entails great risk. You need to make sure that you achieve 100% completion rate in all those 2nd+ vows. Secondly, the completion rate among first vows is not that impressive. That means that there are a lot of points locked in those first vows and given that there is only a week remaining, there is no reasonable expectation that this gap will be covered by second or subsequent vows of other Chaos players – that potential is virtually spent. So first vow completions is the order of the day. The BAs have a completion rate of 62% among first vows and the AoD-T a 61% rate. So you see the issue here… This is where the first position will be played.

CHAOS DAEMONS & THE LOST AND THE DAMNED:

The Daemons are on the verge of the breakthrough (I hope). There were some completions in Week 12 but the completion rate overall remains at 34.5% - well below the ETL average. So far only Raven1 has reported completions… And the LatD seem to picking up pace, raising their completion rate from 20% to 32%. But there is still so much potential, it’ll be a pity to let it go unutilised… The LatD have indeed been the positive surprise of the ETL in terms of initial commitment and enthusiasm – let’s see this through guys!

AELDARI

Things have been very slow here since the beginning of the ETL. Now, as we are already in the last week of the event, this is the time to shine. Wrap it up, let’s make this final days count! Only two of you have so far reported a completion and one of them is conditional on completing the follow-up vow. C’mon we’ve seen some top-notch work from you guys and it’s time to bring it home!

NECRONS:

The Necrons increased their completion rate in Week 12 from 60% to 63% improving their score from 2.7k to 3.3k. There is still room however, as the completion rate among first vows is 44% - something that can do with some improvement.  Time is running out guys – so if you are to make the effort, now is time to do it. You have a fantastic record so far but let’s see this to the end!

ORKS

Well with two out of four participants reporting completions and one of the even re-vowing several times, it has brought the Ork completion rate to a staggering 75% - the second highest in the ETL at this point after the 100% of the Grey Knights! If the other two participants manage to complete this week, then the 100% completion rate for the Orks will be a reality – and how cool will that be! Best of luck guys!

T’AU EMPIRE

Tau is the Xenos Forum with the most resources but, despite the efforts of some participants, those resources remain largely underutilised at this point. It is a unique opportunity guys to make the Tau presence felt in the Xenos and the B&C context in general – don’t waste it! It is evident that the largest vow of the T’au will be finished on time so that certainly will be a huge boost – but let’s see the smaller first vows also be completed in time! Right now you have second position in the Xenos Faction but you’re very close to claim first.

TYRANIDS

Well, the Tyranids have the lower completion rate of the event at just 8% - and even that is in jeopardy since a second vow is outstanding. This is it guys, just make the final effort in this last week of the event to cover the ground and why not, end up with a 100% completion rate?

AoD-L

The Loyalists managed to increase their completion rate from 40% to 53% in Week 12 – a significant performance. Indeed this is more than the ETL average and places them (in terms of score) in 4thposition among all Forums. Furthermore, this performance narrowed the gap with the Traitors and boosted the AoD Faction to second place, firmly ahead the Realm of Chaos. However this is not the end – not yet. There are a lot of first vows to be completed in this remaining week (completion rate among first vows is only 37%) and some key follow-up vows that, if remain incomplete, will have dire consequences for AoD-L and the AoD Faction as a whole. So let’s see some brave completions in those final days – it’s now or never!

AoD-T

The AoD-T had a phenomenal performance during those 12 weeks. It is currently in third position though, with some very important follow-up vows still outstanding. Those vows will make a HUGE, HUGE difference – so they must be completed at all costs – the Warmaster demands it! Obviously, firast vows must also be taken care of despite the relatively high completion rate of 61%. But guys, those with a follow up vow outstanding, please, complete them and propel the AoD-T as well as the entire AoD Faction to the highest level possible! This is not the time to rest!

I hear you! :biggrin.: But now you may rest... Time for Word Bearers? :tongue.:

Honestly if I were to start more HH I'd go with Emperor's Children

This is the best idea I've heard all day! Can't beat more EC!

Hey guys, I feel the same way - just check my sig! ;)

I did the math yesterday on my own yesterday but I wanted to be sure about the Chaos vs. Blood Angel thing... I guess I was, and I still can't believe it :biggrin.: .  My first ETL, and this is massively exciting.

I'm still enormously proud of our Age of Darkness (and naturally, of the Warmasters chosen.  Slogging up that steep slope, outgunned, outnumbered, our points worth less but our heroes numerous!).  I'm finally tapped, it's been a bloody great experience either way, and after 11K (and 12K Sons of Horus in the past 4 months) I finally get to take a bit of a breather.

Well done everyone!  Now, lets see who crosses that finish line!

And aye, like Dragonlover said, hope everything's good and safe with ya Cap'n!  Be safe, mate.

Let me say as someone who very almost chose to be an AoD Traitor this year, I couldn't be more proud of my chaotic cousins in this. FOR THE DARK GODS!
