So I loved Adeptus Titanicus the moment I saw the previews. I'm a very slow painter so we've hit the "I have a ton of stuff to paint and don't know where to start" stage so I'll be updating this to keep me motivated. I also post over at DakkaDakka in their AT forum but there's more here and seems to be less "AT is a bust because it's too expensive" over here. This is an expensive hobby, you gotta pay to play.

That said I'm actually building two Legios since I have 4 Warlords, 2 assembled Reavers, 4 Reavers to assemble, 2 Warhounds, 4 Knights, and 8 more Knights to assemble. Yikes. I started as soon as the box arrived but like I said I'm slow.

Legio Aurora means dawn in Latin, they're a traitor legio of my own naming. They'll have white armor with gold banding and splashes of purple and black here and there. So far they have 3 Warlords and a Reaver for 1500 and 2000 point lists. I like the idea of a legio sort of like the Word Bearers in 40k, they have totally sold themselves on the Warmaster speak his praises after being infected with the scrapcode. I'll be painting lots of small gibberish script on the white armor panels with things like eight pointed stars and eyes of Horus. I might eventually do kill banners and flags after they're done if I have the interest.

The remaining Warlord, 4 Reavers, and 2 Warhounds will be a loyalist legio - either Metalica or Astorum. I can't decide! I love the idea of Metalica because I've used Google to roughly translate the names of several Metallica songs to Latin, I thought that was fun.

King Nothing - Rex Nihil
Creeping Death - Mors Serpo
Ride the Lightning - Fulgur Veho
Fade to Black - Deficio Furvus
Master of Puppets - Dominus Automata
One - Unus
Sad But True - Maestus Sed Verum
Unforgiven - Irremissible [great song but not a good Latin name]
Justice For All - Justitia Omnibus
Disposable Heroes - Herobius Egestus
Seek and Destroy - Indago Deleo
To Live is to Die - Vivere Est Mori

Anyway I have access to a 3d printer at work so I started finding models on Thingiverse to adapt for weapon options until the official weapons pack is released. You can see ridges on the weapons from printing but these are proxies for now. The plasma cannon was adapted from a model that had been modified for a 40k Imperial Knight, the macro Gatling cannons are a Frankenstein of 3d models that I've kitbashed with Contemptor dread assault cannons. The carapace laser blasters and megabolters are adapted from models found on Thingiverse and modified in TinkerCAD to be easier to print on our printers (they don't do overhangs and negative space well. All weapons are magnetized and I didn't mess up the polarity of any of them!

The three Aurora Warlords:

They might look a little disjointed because all of the contact points are still blue tacked to keep paint off there until I'm ready to glue them together. I wanted to use plastic glue to hold the joins together rather than supergluing over paint because these are expensive models. The bodies and legs are all sprayed in Leadbelcher, the legs have started getting washes. I still need paint the wires and tubes on the bodies before shading. All of the weapons were sprayed with Rustoleum aluminum paint+primer which went on flat and smooth.

A whole gaggle of armor panels and weapons to paint:

Another loyalist Warlord hiding waiting to get started:

Now on to the Reavers. I've got one built for each Legio so far and HOLY CRAP the legs are annoying. I hate all the little ball joints and armor panels but oh well, there must be some reason why they couldn't be molded together like the Warlord. The Aurora Reaver is built with two powerfists because I love the look even if that isn't great in game. I used an IG hunter killer missile as a warp missile and a pair of Sentinel exhaust systems as proxies for turbolasers.

IMG 0120

I made a pair of melta cannons from heavy flamers and Contemptor dread melta guns, the shields are extra Reaver knee pads. I now have a pair of plastic 30k Contemptor dread with no weapon arms.

IMG 0121

A volcano cannon I made from an extra cut down Warlord gun since I've got all those plasma and Gatling guns built. I'm not really happy with it because it's so huge.

IMG 0078

I used some 3d printed parts that came out too small to kinda build up another pair of volcano cannons, they look a little better. The Warhounds are stock and all the guns are magnetized with really small magnets I got for 40k conversions that I'll never finish.

Another small box of Reaver weapons to prime.

So that's where I stand for now, still have 4 more Reavers and 8 more Knights to assemble. I might add one more Reaver to Aurora so I can build a shooty one to go with my brawler. Overall I love the aesthetic of the game but I do wish the scale was slightly smaller. You can run 4 Warlords at 2000 points for $400 but I'd kinda rather be able to run 6 smaller Warlords at 2k for that price. I feel like the game would also sell better at that potential price point. I think the same dollar cost/point is reasonable but smaller models at fewer points would maybe allow for people to test the game with reasonable 500 point maniples. Dunno, I'm not a business expert. First of all welcome to the B&C Fajita Fan! I hope you have a fun and constructive time here. :)

Now you have a huge project in your hands, or should I say multiple projects... I find it when I have a ton of minis in front of me I get intimidated and often run away! But you seem committed to your Aurora and probably Legio Metallica, so good luck for both!

A great idea to latinise the song titles, they do make for suitable names!

I’ll be following this with great interest!

Firstly: welcome to the B&C. :)

Secondly: Wow, you have jumped into AT with both feet! I'm looking forward to seeing more pictures as these develop. I really like the look of the alternate Warlord weapons you've created.

maybe you should have chosen legio metalica? :)

and you know what, my mortis titans are also named after songs of certain band(s)

edit: maybe I should learn to read before I post

I bought some styrofoam from Walmart that's 5.8"x2.9"x1.9" to turn into buildings and made an 8 story building facade in Publisher. They're laminated so they last longer.

The first building I glued together as an L shape so it's a little more interesting than just a rectangle, the facade is just glued on with white glue and it appears to be holding.

Wow, now I’m scared... mine’s in the mail...

This is a great project Fajita - very effective result too. Btw, can you put a Titan next to it for scale purposes?

Great stuff there! ;)

I can tonight.

So I had bought 3 more Reavers off Amazon and figured I'd send them back since I've now got enough for a pair of 2000pt legios without knights.  I forgot about them and now my return window expired.  :(

Maybe someday I'll build them and do some heavy Chaos conversions?  I don't know.

All painting is on hold till I get these last four Reavers assembled to hopefully spray before it gets too cold. I’ll probably glue the leg armor on and just drop some Leadbelcher in there where the spray don’t shine.

Even the guns take awhile on the Reaver, I swear they built the master mold from ceramic, threw it at the ground, then cast the 8,000 shattered pieces into the plastic mold.

Wow, now I’m scared... mine’s in the mail...

Yep.  Here one is next to my brawler before I cut him up a bit.  I don't love the scale of the windows next to him so I redid the template today and just laminated a bunch.  I'll try gluing those to another couple of buildings later on.

So after taking that pic I cut his waist apart and turned it more for a better windup and pitched it down with some blue tack, I like how the head is pointed better this way. I also tacked on a Sentinel chainsaw to count as a chainfist, later I tacked on a Mechanicus heavy flamer to try representing a plasmacutterfist instead.  Thoughts? I kinda like the idea of the massive plasma cutter counting as a chainfist since I feel that chainsaw would need to be bulked up a bit.

Well after an assembly blitz I've now got six assembled Reavers and a gaggle of guns to get sprayed the next warmish day but sadly I may have missed the mid Atlantic rattle can window :ermm:

I finished my chainfist with a bit of sprue as a chainguard and some bits to add bulk.  I sorta like the Terminator style look now that it's all glued in.

Sunday I'll be walking through the rules with a friend to see how army composition should work.  I should try knocking out my Warlords to the point where I can get them glued together and add finishing touches later.

I've got 8 more Knights so I want to play with something different for them. I've got a box of the Rust Stalkers with the close combat arms somewhere so I'll see how they look on there once I dig them out.

There's a Librarian Dread on my paint table I might eventually get to so I used a Lizardmen spear to try making something similar for a banner of Knights with some kind of shield. SM stormshields seem kinda big so I might have some Empire shields in another box to experiment with. Worst comes to worst I'll just use sheet plastic to make a few kite shields.

Hi, I hope I am not too late to the party here, but I have some suggestions for better translations- which may or may not sound cooler to you, no worries if not but here they are anyway.

1. “Rex Nihilis” sounds better to me but that literally means “King OF Nothing”

2. “Mors Serpens” is the better translation.

3. “Exolescat in Tenebris” perhaps?

4. Master of Puppets seems a great choice for this context; a closer translation would probably sound less good.

5. Unforgiven = without pardon = Sine Venia?

You're not too late at all and I actually used second or third translations to find cooler names.  I struggled with Unforgiven, that sounds better.  I love the idea of using Metallica for Metalica but I'm not really sold on the red especially if I do a third Khorne legio as planned.

There's still something about Astorum calling to me or even doing my own loyalist legio...

So I could be painting my Warlords so they're playable but why do that when I can waste time with conversions I don't need?

I accidentally threw away the box that had my extra dashboards so I Xeroxed and laminated a few.  With some 1/4" magnetic tape stuck behind the points I can put these little magnetic pins to mark damage and shields.

Just because I like being able to field EVERY SINGLE weapon option I used the wrists from the 40k Mechanicus robots to make a mating collar for some carapace Gatling blasters.  Without thinking I used the same polarity on my Reaver and Warlord carapace weapons so I need a collar to glue opposing polarity magnets.  It looks good enough for government work, I think megabolters with rapid fire are better for taking down shields anyway.

Then a couple of Knights just for fun.  A Lizardmen spear cut up and glued into the body of an assault cannon kinda mimics the force lance on a Librarian Dreadnought.

And then I started doing some Knights who've started falling to Chaos. CSM chainswords are pretty easy to mate to the Knight chainsaws and I just need some added bits. Most of their icons will be painted on.
