Hail frateris!

I have also jumped onto the Adeptus Titanicus bandwagon - and much looking forward to getting a game in.

So far, I have assembled five of the fiddly buildings and three fantastic looking Questoris Knights. I have not quite figured out why there is only one of each weapon in a set - ie. an Avenger cannon, a battle cannon and a thermal cannon? Seems an odd layout? That said, I have - besides the GM Edition Box - bought an extra set of Questoris Knights and a pair of Warhound Titans. The latter should be enroute in the mail. Very much looking forward to getting my grubby mitts on them!

Legio-wise, I have not yet decided on colour scheme - but as I have assembled three Questoris Knights and five buildings, I will be painting them first. As for my Knight House, I will probably go with House Tintaroth from the Titan! Comics "Will of Iron", as the colour scheme is 1) wickedly good and 2) different from anything else I have painted during my 26 odd years in this hobby of ours!

So - stay tuned - there will be pictures up this evening of my progress to date!

Faithfully,

Master Ciaphas

Hail frateris!

Thank you for the comments - I am indeed enjoying getting into Adeptus Titanicus and looking forward to having a crack at it game-wise. At the moment, though, I am languidly reading through the rulebook. Seems well thought out and it is giving me a nice vibe of controlling giant robots of death...who do death very well. For some reason, I would love to know more about the Cy-Carnivora cults of Mars. They sound deliciously horrible.

That said, I have been busy at the hobby table - and have finally gotten around to taking some pictures of my miniature giant robots :-)

Civitas Imperialis terrain - enough to fill 1/4 of the battlefield (as the rulebook recommends d3+1 buildings per quarter)

All the models have been undercoated black, and I am in the process of painting the Questoris Knights. Really looking forward to how the white-red-gold painting scheme pans out...

Thanks for posting. A good start.

I'm actually pretty interested in how you paint your buildings. There haven't been a huge amount of painted buildings featuring here.

Keep up the good work.

You'll have a Maniple in no time.

What are your plans (if any) to expand to a legal Matched Play force? A Reaver would take you up to a minimum sized Maniple. Or you can just enjoy painting what you have.

Dallo

Thank you, Dallo! I am looking forward to getting more hobby time in. It is a bit crazy at work at the moment, so I am not getting much free time. However, this weekend I have managed to do a bit.

First up, I have finished the first two Civitas Imperialis buildings. I used a rather simple recipe:

1) Undercoat Chaos Black

2) A wet drybrush of Charadon Grey

3) Drybrush Mechanicus Grey

4) Paint doors Balthasar Gold

5) Paint bits and bobs Ironbreaker

6) Wash doors with Ogryn Flesh or Reikland Fleshshade

7) Wash Ironbreaker bits and bottom of the building with Agrax Earthshade

8) Drybrush entire building with Tyrant Skull Dry

9) Drybrush floors with Eshin Grey

10) Wash floor with Nuln Oil

Took about 40 min incl. drying time.

And here is the finished result:

As they are - evidently - fairly non-descript and drab, I think I will paint more colours on the next three; perhaps some red or green bands. Also, as the Rulebook recommends d3+1 building pr. quarter of the table, that the next batch of five buildings might be painted as Mechanicum aligned buildings or in limestone, just to give the city environment a bit more colour. We will see.

Finally, I have also managed to put colour on my House Tintaroth Questoris Knights:

They are still in progress, but are actually not far from done. I need to highlight the red, white and gold on them, and then to paint the heraldric banner between their legs. And to do the base...and to put on transfers...ok. Fair enough. I will need to do quite a bit...

Faithfully,

Master Ciaphas

Everyone is making more progress than me. :verymad:

I just give the illusion of progress. I've taken five pages to base an unpainted warlord. :p

I haven't finished a single model for Titanicus so far and that's ok. I'll post more on your plog.

Ciaphas, those knights are fine. I know you've got plans to add detail to them, but I'd certainly be happy to play against them as they are now. However, if you want to make them prettier, don't let me stand in your way. :p

I like what you've done with your buildings and thank you for the breakdown of your process and for your timeframe. It's giving me a few ideas. If I had to comment in the buildings, I think the one on the right looks too drab. The one on the left has the door to give it a splash of colour which really makes it much more visually interesting. I think the right building is "lacking" for lack of a better word. I don't think it would take much to fix, just a splash of colour to stop it being a solid grey lump. Perhaps add some colours to the Windows or paint the support brass/gold? Just a thought.

Thank you for posting. I've got a GM box in the post, so it'll be nice to have another log to bounce off.

Keep up the good work.

Really like the buildings and the colour scheme for the Knights! I've been debating how to do my buildings too, but I think that'll come after I finish all the actual Titans... Great to see what others are doing and how that looks compared to different schemes!

Nor me. Haven't gotten past building the legs on my first Reaver. That was about a month ago...

Master Ciaphas: very intriguing and striking colours on those Knights. I'm looking forward to seeing them done. :tu:

Master Ciaphas, I have to say, I LOVE the buildings! The details make them pop and the grey is exactly as it should - they are not supposed to be overly flashy - it’s Imperial architecture after all... and they should not steal the focus from the Titans after all. The details though really work. Congrats!

The Knights look good too, dark red and white is a winning combo. Are you going to make any of them a Baron or a Princeps (I believe their called)?

Thank you - the buildings are, well, grimdark, but that also means they are rather dull. At 28mm scale you can "do" more with them, I think, to make them pop, but at 6-8mm, I find that far more trying.

I have managed to finish another building, and have a further three almost done (just need to do the Tyrant Skull dry drybrush), and that will be the first batch, before I move on to finishing my Questoris Knights.

As for my Titan Legio, I am becoming more and more partial to the Legio Praesagius; their white-blue-gold scheme looks very snazzy. A bit like the World Eaters (boo hiss), but still, very stylish. Sadly, there are no decals available for them. That means I am also thinking of doing them as Legio Astorum (Warp Runners), who have decals - and a catchy blue-yellow scheme.

Choices, choices.

Faithfully,

Master Ciaphas

I mean, if yellow and blue is an option, go yellow and blue. Not that I'm biased or anything. :p

Looking forward to seeing some more of your progress on your stuff. My GM box arrived and I spent some of yesterday magnetising a trio of Knights. They're really nice kits to put together.

Keep up the good work.

Don't let the lack of decals drive your decision... The generic decals are doing an excellent job and you can leave out a couple of placeholder position in case specialised decals make an appearance... Praesagius is an important Legio - well covered by the background, so you never know...

Having said that, Astorum is not bad either...

Hail!

I have now managed to finish all my assembled buildings and will be concentrating on my three Questoris Knights next. After that, I will probably do another batch of buildings and then the two Warhounds that I bought on Black Friday.

Anyhow - here are the newly finished buildings:

And the "grand" city scape:

When I assemble the next batch of buildings, I will build some that are higher and perhaps a wee bit more interesting than the ones suggested in the assembly instructions.

As for the Titan Legion...the jury is still out. The decision stands between Legio Astorum and Legio Praesagius - my wfie clearly partial to Legio Astorum for colours and scheme :-)

Faithfully,

Master Ciaphas

Looking good. I really like the buildings. The different colours you’ve used on the top of the buildings adds a lot of visual interest and makes them pop.

I’ll have to get my finger out for my AT buildings. I was feeling a little burnt out yesterday so was working on a model from a different gaming system (which I sadly can’t share here), but your buildings have inspired me to put some more buildings together.

Thank you for that.

Keep up the good work.

  • 3 weeks later...

Hail!

Thank you for all the comments! I have not really been able to do much hobbying during the Christmas holidays, as I was away with family. But, now that the new year has started, I will get stuff done!

I have started work on two Warhounds, which have been undercoated, based silver and gotten the Nuln Oil wash. Currently I am paiting the gold trim on them, which is truly a patience-draining endeavour! I have assembled their guns aside, but I am planning on doing one with two Vulcan Megabolters and the other with either two laser destroyers or a laser destroyer and a plasma blastgun. They will look wicked for sure.

That said - which size magnets are best suited for the Warhounds - would that be the 3x1mm magnets?

Lastly, I have gone out on a limb and ordered the TableTop Scenics "Leviathan District" just to have a bit more terrain (cheaply) as well as those sweet, sweet containers. I will post pictures of these next week, when I get my mitts on them :-)

Faithfully,

Master Ciaphas

Agreeing with you on painting the gold trim, I have started some, typically small painting sessions to keep it bearable.

I primarily used 3x1mm magnets for my warhounds.

Curious to see the Leviathan District elements and how they combine with the civitas imperialis stuff. The containers are indeed a very sweet addition to this set.

Hail!

Well - back again! And look what has arrived in the mail:

dJ17c9C.jpg

I have already been at it for a few days, so tomorrow I will post a picture of the assembled buildings - and as a courtesy to Mendi, I will also have one of them next to Civitas terrain, for the sake of comparison!

Till then!

Kindly,

Master Ciaphas
