Primaris'd Azrael is now completely done, barring his base:

Now he no longer looks completely ridiculous when surrounded by Primaris Marines

Additionally, one of my friends did an order with Spellcrow and asked me if I wanted to add in on it. So I got the Not!Dark Angels stuff, along with the bare heads with beards, because they were quite knightly. It ended up allowing me to make 10 Company Veterans out of the one box of Company Vets I got a few weeks back:

  • 2 weeks later...

All right, here we go:

Might as well:

I, Gederas, rise to the challenge of E TENEBRAE LUX on the side of the Dark Angels and vow to complete:

  • Primaris Lieutenant (Power Sword and Plasma Pistol) - 79
  • 5 Intercessors - 85
  • Tactical squad (Plasma Gun, Plasma Cannon) - 167

For a Total Value of 331 points on or before September 1st, 2019. Success will bring me eternal glory and failure will doom me to wear the Badge of the Oathbreaker until the year-end.

Need to get the Sector Imperialis 40/25mm base set to be able to "finish" the Lieutenant when he's done painted.

Intercessor Squad Vanael is done, and with that, the first third of my ETL vow:
7UOXtgE.jpg

Also, yes, Vanael has a chainsword. I'm going to be getting some use out of those Chainswords from the Burning of Prospero kit I got:

Detail on his namescroll:

Nice fast work :smile.:

Thanks! Though, having painted these guys reminds me of why I hate painting marines with the arms and backpacks attached :laugh.:

Very difficult to get to the stuff behind the arms.

Paint them before assembly.

I would have done that if I had known that when I first assembled these guys, but I was just starting Warhammer at that point and was a scrub at painting.

Well, I still am, but hey. At least I know what sub-assemblies are now :laugh.:

In other news, I've started work on a thing:

Since Forge world doesn't make them anymore, I decided to make my own Chaplain Dreadnought :laugh.:

I'll be swapping the torso symbol for something better, as I've got... probably 120 Mark III and Mark IV Forge World Dark Angels shoulder pads, I'll use the armourial off of one of those instead

Edited by Gederas

That looks pretty nice Gederas. I look forward to seeing some paint on that bad boy :smile.:

You'll be seeing that sooner rather than later, as I was planning on having an HQ in every vow I do. So that (along with some others) will be part of my 2nd Vow.

Hopefully one of my two friends who plays Blood Angels will have spares of the CCW arms, otherwise it looks like the Deathwatch will be getting a Blood Angels Dreadnought soon :laugh.:

I’m glad to see you’ve really become a part of the Rock Gederas. You have a lot of projects on the go, and while I love you chaos projects, the Unforgiven have always been my main. Your army is looking fantastic brother, and I’m really liking where that dreads going. Keep it up!

I love this. I've always wanted to paint my DA in black.

It's because I wanted to play 30k, and I like the Dark Angels the most out of the 18 Legions (that I can use in 30k/40k), that's the only reason why they're black  That and it's a nice colour-scheme.

Thanks! And yeah, I enjoy my Chaos projects, they give me something to do when I'm not painting loyalists.

And the Dreadnought is mostly finished, I just need to get some more decorative bits. And also find some Blood Angel Dreadnought CCW arms.

Vow I is done:

Well, I just finished my first vow, but I need to wait until tomorrow to take a non-crappy picture of all 16 of them :laugh.:

Also, I have learned my lesson: I'm never painting the bases of marines while they're ON the Sector Imperialis bases. It's really, really annoying. But then again, those Mark III marines were second-hand so I have to make due with what I've got :laugh.:

And to prove I wasn't lying:

Primaris Lieutenant Isiah, Intercessor Squad Vanael and Tactical Squad Uriah

Now, my next vow:

I, Gederas, rise to the challenge of E Tenebrae Lux on the side of the Dark Angels and vow to complete the 1404 points below on or before Sept 1st, 2019.

  • Land Raider Crusader (with Multi-Melta) [Captain before you ask, that model was put in a strip bath, but that's all that came off. I think whoever painted this thing used something good, because the paint that's on there is not coming off :laugh.:]
  • Librarian in Terminator Armour
  • Interrogator Chaplain in Terminator Armour
  • Deathwing Apothecary
  • Deathwing Champion
  • Deathwing Ancient
  • Relic Deredeo Dreadnought (Hellfire Plasma Cannonade, Aiolos Missile Launcher)
  • Apothecaries x3
  • Techmarine
  • Primaris Intercessors x5 (Bolt Rifle)
  • Chaplain Venerable Dreadnought (Dreadnought Inferno Cannon, Dreadnought Combat Weapon, Heavy Flamer)

And the images:

Now I need to wait on a Forge World order for the Chaplain Dreadnought's melee weapon to show up.

And an update on my ETL vows, the Chaplain Dreadnought is done barring the base:

I also painted the other melee arm too, planning on painting the other ranged arms too:

Chaplain dread looks awesome! Well done.

Thanks!

He also performed well in a small 1k game I did today at my FLGS. I went with the two fists + heavy flamers loadout and hoo boy. He made a mess of my opponent's Intercessors :laugh.:

In other news: Kromlech order a friend and I did arrived today. Now I should be able to do Primaris Asmodai on my next vow. Maybe :laugh.:

Edited by Gederas

Black, red, metals - excellent Fallen Dread there!

:tongue.:

:dry.:

Thanks for the compliment at least? :laugh.:

I knew you would not disappoint with that Dreadnought Gederas.

Nice work man.

Thanks! I'm hoping to get some time on Sunday to do some of the (several) characters for the rest of my vow. Probably will start with the Apothecaries and Techmarine. Then the Intercessors, then the Deathwing. I'll try doing painting on the Land Raider throughout.

In other news: My Kromlech order arrived today. Now I should be able to do Primaris Asmodai on my next vow. Maybe :laugh.:

Asmodai will be rolling over in his grave, and he's not even dead yet.

I'm just future-proofing my Dark Angels. I still have the metal Azrael, Asmodai, Ezekiel and Sammael (and the finecast Belial) and can use them. I just like the scale on Primaris better. Much better proportions and all that.

Also: We all know Asmodai would LOVE the bonuses of being a Primaris, the sadist he is means being stronger and more durable means he could tortu-err, INTERROGATE Fallen for longer, and make it worse. :laugh.:

In other news: My Kromlech order arrived today. Now I should be able to do Primaris Asmodai on my next vow. Maybe :laugh.:

Haven't seen heresy like this since the actual Horus Heresy.

I've already made Primaris Azrael and Ezekiel, and I'm working on Primaris Belial. Can't stop, won't stop :laugh.:

So.... about that:

kpuZz2s.jpg

Quick and rough mock-up. Once I pick up the Asmodai model on Sunday, I'll put the proper head on him, and then resculpt the robes a bit. And yes, the specific pose is based on the picture of Asmodai in the 8th edition codex.

Additionally:

I also had a crazy idea due to me remembering I have the model and was intending to use it on my Deathwatch. But since my Deathwatch is a VERY slow-grow, I realized I could utilize the model for ETL VII instead.

I'm going to turn this:

01.jpg

Into this:

99800101107_DABelial01.jpg

Because I can't vow the Belial I already have, since I had almost finished painting him before ETL VII started :laugh.:

d6BUsbn.jpg

Though, with the amount of work sculpting I'm going to have to do on this model, I don't foresee myself finishing it before ETL is over.
