Just finished my Dante. After that many vehicles it was quite nice to paint a character model. All the feathers really made my eyes cry and white tends to dry really quick on small brushes, but I'm happy with the result. The gold is much more shiny than what I used for my sang guard. It's basically burnished gold with dark Oath flesh contrast over it. Really like it and it's quite fitting for the golden man Dante himself. So what do you say?

Thank you all, guys!

I recently discovered that I missed a purity seal on his waist . Maybe I'll redo the heated metal effect on perdition some day, but it looks far less cartoonish in person anyway.

So here is the next addition to the troops. Very meta atm

The flamestorms are newly painted, the boltstorms received some minor touchups and new bases.

I plan to run them as a six man blob. If I put the ones with the right weapons in front it should be obvious. Also I realized that it's no problem to have two seargent models as they are exactly the same as the rest.

The weathering is great. Just enough to show use, still enough BA glory to bask in.

Thanks! I try to achieve exactly what you've described. In my mind my guys were deployed a short time ago. Enough to get some scratches and wear and tear, but not full "ongoing year-long" campaign battle damage.

Guess angels have to maintain a lifted look

I built the first jump DC dude using some FB DC bits and I'm pretty happy. Thankfully I have enough bits lying around to sprinkle in some heads, shoulder pads and bling. Hopefully I'm getting myself motivated to paint again, now that the temperatures are down.

your dante is absolutely lovely.

assault intercessors look great too.

Liking the first death company marine. I don't know about you, but my least favourite unit to build has always been assault marines of any variety... I think its the jump packs and for whatever reason the amount of mold lines always seems particularly egregious. Look forward to seeing more!

Thanks @Blindhamster! I struggle painting assault marines. The jetpack feels like another miniature. Especially the FB DC ones with all the ropes, drops and ornaments.

And whilst I didn't like the new ones, they really grew on me through SM2 and seeing them in real life and not only on pictures.

Also they will be a lot easier to paint without all the stuff dangling around.

First 5 have been finished. Like @Brother Raul said, they have grown on me. My biggest downer was the stumbling around poses, but I think you can get around that with arm and head posing.

I only really dislike the 3rd (definitely feels like he's basically horizontal) and the 4th poses after some time of getting used to them and reposing a bit.

The 1st and last poses in particular I actually really like, but they aren't gonna be great in multiples.

looking great.

The citadel flight stands can be used to change the poses up a fair bit too.

With a ten marine squad you can alternate which leg gets pegged in and that changes it up a lot.

They are mainly on 45 degree angles which I just didn't like so went with the flight stems.

Just make sure to ask your opponent to not penalise you for modelling to disadvantage. It's weird world I know but had 2mm visable above terrain and had to take the shots.

That's a good idea @Brother Raul. However I have no flight stands at hand and I'm fine with them in person. Sometimes GW manages to build some awkward poses for their showcase models and that's quite an achievement regarding the limited posability. You can ruin the look of a mini just gluing the head looking in a wrong direction in my opinion.

Here is WIP of my first DC test model:

Thanks guys! Positive feedback is always a pleasure

looks cool, and a solid pose too. Will you do a pin wash or some other kind of blacklining?

I don't want to go crazy on those guys. The DC box already provided 20 models and I plan to finish them before I myself get carried away by the black rage. Also my camera fails to capture the black and gray gradients. My lighting isn't good right now, because I rely a lot on daylight and it's raining a lot.

Gave them a dark Grey / light grey zenithal and a very gentle white drybrush.

I have another WIP update at hand. Actually I would call it a day beside the basing.
