Edit edit: @BC: I'm not sure, but shouldn't Decimus get 3 Mag Damage there? I from hitting, 1DoS is the second hit, then because its an Explosive weapon it gets an extra one v Hordes? (I'm not 100% on this, so please correct me if I'm wrong...)

A frag grenade inflicts a total of 5 hits (4 for blast and one for being an explosive weapon)

The degrees of success on the hit will make no difference.

 

At T3 with no armour any roll of 4 or higher on 2d10+2 will inflict damage - so your frag grenade automatically inflicts 5 magnitune with no need for rolls.

Ah ok, something learned, as I don’t have the rulebook I was going by what recourses I do have, namely the free PDf (FAQ1.1, oblivion edge and final sanction) and my experience from Mazer Rackham’s game.

 

Going by the rules for hordes on page 16 and 17 of final sanction I thought that to do magnitude damage you needed 15 points of damage after TB and armour.

 

 

Edit: Rereading the paragraph several times I think I see where I run into language comprehension problems. To me the second sentence (beginning with therefore and mentioning 15 points of damage) was a qualifier as to what counts as 'any amount of damage' for the purposes of the first sentence, when it presumably should be read as an example only and not a qualifier. *shakes head in confusion*

 

 

Edit the second, is Commissar Molotov taken Kai over from Ancient_Sobek, or just piloting him in the meantime?

I think that bit was referring to Decimus' Heavy Bolter FAB... which I think would be 3 Mag, but if he uses the reroll from Kai, its a moot point anyway... :P

Yep, he was but Mol (everyone welcome Commissar Molotov to the game, you may be familiar with his work... :D) used a Fate Point to make it a 10 and make sure he went first!

 

Don't worry, I'm working up the Round 1 summary, will include Svelk hitting with his grenade!

@Black Cohort: if you want to reroll that 1DoS hit, Mol's Lead by Example gives you the opportunity? (Assuming you choose to enter Squad Mode)

 

 

 

On that thought, does anyone else need to alter their choices based on Kai's Actions?

Beren - just an artefact of me taking of Kai from Sobek. In my most recent post (#138) I have Kai spend a Fate Point to get an initiative of 14 and start utilising his squad abilities to benefit you all.

Trokair, as A.T. mentioned, your Frag Grenade will do 5 hits to the Pilgrim Horde - 4 because it's a Blast (4) weapon, and an additional one because it's an Explosive weapon (X weapon type). The damage is high enough that you will auto-inflict 5 Magnitude.

Ok, just for clarity and my own understanding, for the explosion hit it is a single d10 (I rolled a 3).

 

The horde has a TB of 3. My understanding was that these two would cancel each other out, and as such no damage is dealt.

 

If I had rolled a 4 one damage would have gone through, and that would then have been sufficient to cause 1 Mag damage.

 

Or am I overcomplicating something/confusing normal and horde stuff.

You said you've got the Errata, so if you look at p.12, you will see that Frag Grenades have a damage of 2D10+2 X, Pen 0, Blast (4).

 

Because it's a blast weapon you hit 4 times (plus one additional because it's explosive.) You then roll damage for each hit. When you roll damage to inflict against a target, their Toughness Bonus reduces Damage, and your Penetration value reduces their armour (although in this case, the pilgrims aren't wearing any.)

 

Even if you rolled double one for your damage, you would achieve 4 Damage, which is greater than their TB. Therefore, each hit auto-inflicts one point of magnitude, for a total of 5.

yeah I would re-roll and if in squad mode I double my damage to hordes due to unrelenting devastation.

Ah, I did not think that the +2 applied to the explosion hit, just the normal hits. I was under the impression that the explosion extra hit damage was just single d10 on its own and not a hit with the full weapon profile. All cleared up now. Sorry, and thank you for explaining.

 

 

Have edited my IC post to take out all the superfluous stuff now that my misunderstanding is all cleared up

Edit: oh crud, I didn't move Vesalius on the map... Necro, would you mind if I call it a full Aim +20 on your next shot, rather than +10 for a Half Aim?

Did not see this in time, will go amend post (edit, post all amended, used same rolls and added in size bonus for horde (resulting in extra DoS/Hit)). Had decided to shoot priest so that he be dead for sure and could not dodge again, but I guess Kai did in for him. Will shoot horde B instead I guess.

 

Also, Brynjarr should be marked as being in squad mode.

Cool, made those changes!

 

As an aside, to make it actually worthwhile shooting at the endless Hordes, I will say that if you can do 15 Mag Dam total in a Round to either Horde it will slow their Run move in the next Round from 18m to 15m (essentially meaning that they will get 5 squares closer each Round rather than 6, thereby giving Holger more time to get the door open before they slam into close combat... which as Mol has surmised, you really don't want...)

Odysseus will 'encourage' Holger until the horde closes. :P

Sorry A.T, was that applicable to Rounds going forward? If it was I'll update the 2nd Round Summary...

 

Also, did you want to join the Squad Mode?

 

 

Edit: sorry, one other thing, when you get a sec Necro just need 1 to Hit roll for Vesalius' Frag G, then I can move us on to next Round?

I don’t think they can reach us this turn, so I am inclined to have Brynjarr assist Holger this turn.

 

 

While breaching the door might allow us to escape, without a means to close it surly they will just follow.

 

Edit: Lysimachus, I asume this is a copy paste error, but Brynjarr is again marked as solo when he has been in squad mode earlier.

All good, though Odysseus would have squadded up (as he had offered earlier).

 

Hordes smited, and disaster narrowly avoided with the warp table rolls. I think I should probably get the sanctioning talent when I have enough xp, reduces the odds of hurling the group into the roof or plunging them into darkness at random.
