@Lysimachus - Ooh the Sisters are being cautious, surely not? They're supposed to be zealots. They must know about the 'Let danger rain close' artillery principle.

It’s really not Betas day is it.

For my Character or as a Player it seems!

Tried some character development with the post, but it's garbage I'll have to rewrite.  The bad rolls are fine, but the tripe I barfed out is not!

Don't worry, it looks like the last couple of units for the Sisters can't hit anything either...

Maybe Decimus can save the day?

(An on fire, point blank, FAB into Melee combat would be about as 40k an image as I can think of... :D)

@Lysimachus - out of idle curiosity, will corruption and/or insanity play any sort of roll in Plunder as the game progresses? I understand insanity and corruption accrual works a little differently and is probably slower in Deathwatch as compared to Black Crusade (and doesn't necessarily involve the potential for glorious rewards in the form of mutations of varying usefulness or Chaos marks), but I would think our boys in grey would be slipping down the insanity and corruption tracks at a faster clip than their counterparts in the Deathwatch when you consider their acts of piracy and wanton slaughter/cruelty against their former allies. I'm not saying that I'm in a hurry for my character to become an unhinged slave of the dark gods, just that one or more of our Kill-Team may be headed in that direction from an RP perspective.

Edit: on the other hand, however, there are plenty of examples in the lore of Blood Angels successor chapters butchering civilian populations while in the throes of their genetic curse, but (mostly?) remaining loyal servants of the Emperor (as far as we know, the Fleah Eaters perhaps notwithstanding). And the Marines Malevolent continue to exist as a nominally loyalist chapter, so I guess ymmv.

Edit 2: I also understand that Chaos-corruption would likely not be viewed favorably within the Iron Gods, and would necessarily be something to keep hidden from the others or have amputated (as appropriate) out of despiration, which in and of itself could make for some interesting RP situations.

Good question! It's a tricky one. Chaotic influence is something that happens everywhere in 40k, so it has to affect the Iron Gods in some way. But also, Varn is very watchful for the signs of such corruption and wants no part of it. Anyone he thinks is getting too close, he'd probably just kill, just to be on the safe side.

Game-wise, yep, it takes something pretty unusual to gain Insanity points in Deathwatch, so I try to stick to that standard? I don't think any of the IG are anywhere close to the level of crazy of your average Black Crusade player character? (although I admittedly don't have any experience with that ruleset!) And I think I personally prefer to have that sort of stuff as RP/good writing by players, rather than rules.

But anyway, yes it can be a factor in how people write their characters, and may even already have been!

Yes, corruption in Black Crusade is more free-flowing, shall we say. And BC characters don't even track insanity anymore, but instead accrue permanent mental disorders when exposed to particularly horrific scenes, following a failed will save (because the Lost & Damned are already mad).

So Vesalius is a Nutter, yes we know. I thought that maybe Radago was secretly Chaos but Mazer thinks its just chapter cult, maybe Space Sharks. The Traveller has a case for straying that way. A cause of revenge that could travel down paths that he wouldn't notice perhaps.

Draak has 2 Insanity Points that he picked up for using his abilities, but he's no Nutter.

So we're just waiting for Decimus' FAB Vs Theodora and then Round 4 can start?

(Edit: Asked about Decimus)

Yeah I just thought it was a mechanically relevant question given the Iron Gods' apparent lack of psycho-conditioning/indoctrination as compared to a traditional chapter, and lack of Chaplains or similar to tend to a battle-brother's spiritual health. I'm of course enjoying the RP and game as a whole, I was just curious if there were to be more mechanical consequences for actions taken (and if we haven't crossed any thresholds yet then so be it!). Well, I don't want to put words (Actions) in anybody's mouth... that was just a thought that occurred to me!

But yep, it's Decimus' turn, whatever BC wants that to be!

[sNIP] I was just curious if there were to be more mechanical consequences for actions taken (and if we haven't crossed any thresholds yet then so be it!).

Sounds to me like someone wants Armpit Tentacles...

let us see her wards protect her from that volley.

Yup, that will definitely do it! (She did manage an impressive 3 SoF saves, but not the right ones to keep her vertical!)

With Theodora down, is everyone happy to call the fight done and finish off what's left of the enemy narratively? I don't think there are enough of them left now to cause you any real problems?

I'll add a post IC to that effect and you can add whatever words you wish!

@Lysimachus - Please can we carry on as I've got same Great rolls for Bolter Assault and my regular action?

Although I can do them narratively.

Happy New Year, gents! Only 37,978 to go...

Edit: I mean 29,776 (for those pining for the Great Crusade era).

Imperator Vult and all that.
