Coming Soon page updated for July:

- The Devastation of Baal is getting a HB special edition :smile.: (makes sense, as Dante and Darkness in the Blood already have ones, so just a PB for this middle book ws annoying)

- Danie Ware: The Rose at War omnibus of three novellas and six short stories - apparently in HB!

Still no sign of Echoes of Eternity or any of the other recently anounced Heresy books

Are those Danie Ware stories good? Very tempted but not seen anyone talk about them in here much?

They are okay, nothing terrible but nothing notable either. I'd recommend for hardcore Sorority's fans but not much else. I don't feel like Danie does enough to really make the Bloody Rose feel different from any other SoB order

Seconding this. They're not bad, but not particularly noteworthy either. Their short story format doesn't leave much room for character moments or exploration, often going quickly to action scenes.

The prose I'd say is comparable to Andy Clark's for me; it's mostly bland and workmanlike, but sometimes veers into clunkiness.

Honestly, I'd say my biggest issue with the Sororitas stories is that they don't really convey the faith aspect of the characters authentically. Totally subjective - and I can't really put my finger on what exactly it is. It's like an uncanny valley of worldview presentations, a sort of "puppet mannequins on a theme park ride"-esque something is just off feeling.

This has been my problem with all Sororitas stories (and quite a few Astartes ones as well) there is nothing that delves deep into their organisations and rituals that distinguishes one from another.  While they haven’t been around as long as the Adeptus Astartes, there has been plenty of time for organisational drift to have developed between the Orders.  Frankly, i should be able to tell them apart by more than their uniform colours, especially in prose.

Chris Wraight has confirmed in a twitter response that he has finished and submitted his latest Vaults instalment, but he has no clue when BL plan to release it.  The post was from a month ago.  More great news for fans on the back of his Sangunius book!

He finished it sometime late last year I believe. Hopefully we see it this fall!

Blimey that’s some delay. It must be frustrating for the author to write a book, but not be able to get feedback from fans.

I completely agree. I do think that the Valorous Heart story in Book of Martyrs did a good job at making the VH feel different, I will give Alec Worley credit for that. The problem is a ton of more prominent sisters stories are Martyrs Lady, whom are kind of the vanilla option.

My understanding is that a year between final draft and publication is fairly typical for BL, if not the book industry at large.

Somehow I totally missed Wraight taking up the Sanguinius Primarchs book, last I'd heard it was Swallow. Huzzah!

Can't say the cover art is doing much for me...but having Mr. Wraight's name on the cover more than makes up for the artwork :biggrin.:

A year between final draft and publication is pretty standard for horror novels, I don't know about sci-fi and other genre fiction in general.

I haven't really been paying attention to the Primarchs books, but Wraight writing about Sanguinius sounds great. Looking forward to that. (still wish he'd gotten Mortarion, but...)

Actually, speaking of horror novels, anyone know when we're due another run of Warhammer Horror?

BL’s ‘horror season’ seems to run between October and February. Hopefully there’s a novel or anthology coming this fall.

Sorry to ask but you guys are much more across it than I am. Is there a confirmed date for the Limited Edition of Mortarion yet? I've got every one so far and I do NOT want to miss out on the last few and be forced to spend my life savings on eBay.

It's coming out in June. You can keep track of upcoming books here: https://www.warhammer-community.com/blacklibrarycomingsoon/ (BL is doing a decent job this year and are kind-of updating the section regularly).

I'd also suggest to check every Sunday https://www.warhammer-community.com/black-library/ (here they announce what books are on pre-order next Saturday).

That's basically all you need.

Yeah I knew it was June, I was just wondering if there was a specific date yet.

With LEs we don’t get a specific date until a week before release because why would GW make it easy for people to buy their products?

The regular edition of Ahriman: Eternal will be up for preorder on June 25th: https://www.fnac.com/livre-numerique/a17082040/John-French-Ahriman-Eternal#omnsearchpos=14

Nice to see such a short exclusivity window!

  • 4 weeks later...

It’s good to be back! What have we missed?

The title for Abnett’s second Siege book, The End and the Death, was revealed: https://www.warhammer-community.com/2022/06/08/dan-abnett-interview-how-to-start-and-finish-the-most-epic-series-in-sci-fi/

Marc Collins, who I know is a member here, has written a 40k Characters novel about Helbrecht, called Helbrecht: Knight of the Throne: https://www.warhammer-community.com/2022/06/15/high-marshal-helbrecht-gets-it-together-in-his-new-black-library-novel/

And here’s the blurb: https://catalog.simonandschuster.com/Default.aspx?cid=1440&FilterBy=8&FilterByName=Format&FilterVal=Hardcover&ob=0&ed=&CartID=1933193&showcart=&camefrom=&find=&a=
Congrats Marc! Looking forward to reading this

Sanguinius: The Great Angel also got a blurb:

https://catalog.simonandschuster.com/TitleDetails/TitleDetails.aspx?cid=1440&isbn=9781800262768&FilterByName=Format&FilterBy=8&FilterVal=Hardcover&ob=0&pn=1&ed=&showcart=N&camefrom=&find=&a=

The Vorbis Conspiracy got a cover and author list: https://catalog.simonandschuster.com/TitleDetails/TitleDetails.aspx?cid=1440&isbn=9781800261860&FilterByName=Format&FilterBy=8&FilterVal=Paperback&ob=0&pn=1&ed=&showcart=N&camefrom=&find=&a=

No new 40k releases in July but The Wraithbone Phoenix, Rogal Dorn’s primarch novel, and the Fabius Bile omnibus are all coming in August: https://www.warhammer-community.com/blacklibrarycomingsoon/

I feel like I’m forgetting something, but that’s all the 40k news I remember.

edit: ah yes, the next inferno title was officially revealed. Inferno Presents: The Emperor’s Finest. Seems to have a focus on space marines:

Its unusual that the Rogal Dorn Limited Edition is listed for an August release, but no regular edition up yet on Amazon, but on the other hand we do see a brand new listing for the regular edition of Sanguinius, to come out late November. Which means you'd expect the Limited edition of that in September at the latest.

288 pages for the Sanguinius book btw, nice to see a longer volume.
