And Graeme McNeill the Horus book (pretty much confirmed by the author, but not yet by GW).

And then that’s it!  It’s going to be weird when both the SoT and Primarchs series come to an end pretty much at the same time.  Weird and sad.  For years they have been the releases I have always looked forward to most (even though if, overall, the Primarchs series has been a pretty big let down IMO).

Considering I made the choice to chase the LE of the SoT series im actually going to be a little relieved when it ends, the stress/pressure of making sure the entire collection matches was not considered when I bought the first one

I don’t think I ever had a more stressful LE purchase than Solar War.  That was in the days when there was confusion as to what website we were supposed to buy the books from.   I’m thankful that got sorted out at the least!

Garro : Knight of Grey hardback publication date is 31 Jan 2023.

Echoes of Eternity paperback! publication date is 05 Apr 2023. I'm really curious why there's no word on LE/hardback from GW. We all know the regular hardback exists and some people already have it.

The "drought and flood" method of releases makes no sense to me when it comes to digital formats like audio books. It's not as if they're at the mercy of material supplies, shipping schedules/bottlenecks, or warehouse storage cost concerns for those.

I presume there's some business related reason that makes sense to somebody in the industry, but I don't understand it. If somebody here does know, please share the knowledge!

Is it common knowledge that Gav Thorpe is doing the Rogal Dorn Primarch book?  I don't recall hearing that but it was just recommended to me on Amazon.

Condolences to all fans of the Fists.

I'd wait and see until judging a book before its release. Even if it's meant to be a joke. ;)

Especially his character focused work like Lorgar and Luther were supremely good, imho.

He shines in world-building and I'm really intrigued to finally see some Inwit stuff being added.

I'm genuinely dreading book 7.

Not meant to be a joke. My opinion is basically the opposite of all of this. I have come to accept that some people see his work in a totally different light than me.

In terms of world-building, Gav Thorpe gave us the absolute gem of Azrael accidentally causing a warp storm traveling backwards in time to blow up Old Caliban. How anything like that ever made it into print is beyond me. His books in general are a struggle to get through.

We fans of the First Legion lucked out having someone else write our Primarch book.

Eh, id rather have the excellent Luther novel than the decent but largely forgettable Lion book

We are in agreement in part at least. If one character has to get Mr. Thorpe's magic touch, it should be Luther rather than the Lion.

In any case, best of luck to the Fists!

Mike Brooks writing an ork novel about a competition/war between clans for the title of warboss? Heck yes!

As usual I’m torn between being extremely hyped for the book and slightly disappointed in how it’s being revealed/released.

Aaah, damn, Brooks is getting another Ork novel. I was hoping for Nate. Brooks is already on my list of never-to-touch-again writers so I'm skipping this one.

What works put you off his writing? I've yet to try much of his

Oh look another Gone-in-3-minutes-Edition!

And as a bonus it's coming out this month. And not a single sniff of it is on the Coming Soon Page...

Outgunned is out next Saturday and the only mention of its existence on the internet is a French book retailer’s listing.

Huron's short story is the worst story I've ready by BL. It reads like a bad fan fiction. The novel was a bit better but still not even reaching BL's average (and that is already low).

Horses for courses, but I quite enjoyed the Huron short novel.  Not great, but nowhere near enough to put me off an author for life.

edit - didn't he also write the very good Alpharius primarch novel?

Edited by Ubiquitous1984

He also wrote the Ufthak novel and some shorts, and the largely praised Rites of Passage.

What miffs me about the limited edition is that they once again add an extra book to the thing. They did with Helwinter's Gate, with Ahriman, and now here.

This lavish, foil-edged limited edition sports a soft-touch hardback cover and a red ribbon bookmark, in a boxed set which also includes Da Grotboss’ Manifesto, a separate illustrated book and short story with revolutionary stylings and a unique afterword by the author.

Da Grotboss' Manifesto sounds like something I'd enjoy. Of course it's locked to Limited Edition nonsense at 2k copies. Wow. I'm impressed. Even when they re-release it as a short story in some random anthology eventually (like Cargo in the upcoming Inferno! Presents), it'll lack the "revolutionary stylings", the afterword, the illustrations. Like, half of what makes it so interesting.

Honestly, they can zog off with those limited editions. Especially in the current economic situation where spending seems at an all time low. Heck, over here in Germany, consumer spending is apparently down to levels not seen since 1994. I'd have to be mad to try and purchase a limited edition like this that'd cost me more than a copy of Gloomhaven, just to have it snagged away from in front of me because their online shopping experience sucks and scalpers are better prepared than me.

GW/BL can't read the room.
