Genestealers 3 & 4:

Luthais pounds forward, massive shoulders smashing the Genestealers aside, broken bodies tumbling down a gullet in the deck, chewed open by acid. The abyss peers up at the Storm Warden in silence.

Genstealers 3 & 4 are removed from Play.

Unfortunately the Geneseed of the fallen Deathwatch warrior is ruined beyond retrieval. The foul xenos have robbed the Deathwatch, and this dead hero's Chapter, of his legacy. There is nothing he can do but his duty for the dead, and he offers the soul of the Marine benediction in his own tongue.

Philemon [ ]

Philemon snarled an epithet at the newly emerging purestrains, but nevertheless moved carefully away. He might sound like a Black Templar at times, but he fully understood Saint Guilliman's wise words about the value of a fighting withdrawal when it was required.

Best to make the prospect of following as unpleasant as possible for the xenos, however.

EDIT: Ammo Count Korvaan (MG)

Ammo count for Nergüi is irrelevant, since he has a Shot Selector and therefore 180 Bolt Rounds! He can afford to spray and pray! (Ha, Chaplain pun).

By the Emperor, the Hulk was fairly lousy with xenos, and yet he could not seem to find any to lay his gauntleted hands upon! Snarling in disgust at his inability to deal with the near-constant menace, Arcturion turned around and thudded past Nergüi, revving his chainfist menacingly at the blocked bulkhead. He could both see the heat signatures of the foul monsters beyond the barred threshold and feel their vile minds as they lay in wait in the dark chamber beyond. The fallen and defiled forms of his brothers in the Long Watch further fanned the fires of hatred and spite in his breast.

His mind clouded somewhat by the effects of the blood-frenzy of his forefathers, Arcturion raised his powered gauntlet and crashed its chain-driven blades into the portal.

Arcturion attacks a door (at least the blighter will sit still!).

This door is not unlike many your chainfist has already cleaved. However, unlike the door in the crusher room, this one is not angled and buttressed to deflect objects back into the arms of a pulverising unit. This is a sturdy, defensive structure, with solid bulk designed to resist attack. Perhaps a control room worth protecting?

All attacks automatically hit from now.

You assess the door to have AP 32, and from the gash you've torn in it, know it's metallurgy. SP 30.

ROUND SEVEN

As the team spreads apart, your enemies take advantage.

Doors suddenly hiss open, or slam shut, isolating the Storm Warden, who can hear the chitter and growl of several beings below, well out of auspex range, but near enough to make a warrior's heart beat.

Worse, Arcturion's wish is granted, he is presented with a horde of Hybrids toting autoguns, a missile launcher, and a plasmagun!

In the vent corridor, the partner to the fried abomination launches at Philemon, a coiled spring unravelling, all claws and teeth...

And the Stealers take their chance, slowly, sinuously dropping out of the fan opening behind Korvaan, to attack him!

More tricks, more delays. Was it to buy time to amass a true force or simply to buy time for escape.

Either way the only answer was to meet the xenos with death, Luthais slammed against the interior door seeking to pry it away - while durable it had little to offer compared to the reinforced bulkheads the killteam was expected to breach and would pose no lasting obstacle to his wrath.

Strength check to breach the door: 18 (vs 130 = 14 DoS)

No sooner had he started to tear into the sealed bulkhead with his silver-plated chainfist, than the great steel door grated open and he was greeted by a gibbering horde of xenos hybrids, each more disgusting than the last. The roar of autogun fire assailed him and the rounds from the assorted small arms wielded by the hybrids peppered his armor to little effect, followed by a brilliant flash and a cloud of smoke. An instant later a high-explosive detonated against his war-plate’s cuirass, but the thick ceramite held true and the Lamenter leaned into the blast, powering himself forward through the debris cloud as a nimbus of power formed around his hooded helm. He crashed into their ranks and lay about them with brutal cleaving strikes, hewing numerous hybrids apart with his fiery longsword. Doombringer reaped a grim harvest and Arcturion roared incoherently at them as he commenced with the holy slaughter.

Luthais:

With a mighty squeal and crunching of internal gears, the door separating you from the enemy is forced back into the recess from whence it sprang, but the deformation of the metal obstacle jams it. Thankfully, there is enough room for you to pass through, and bestial faces glower at you in the half-light of the corridor beyond.

Arcturion:

You commit to battle totally, fighting the foe on their spiritual level, as corrupt as that is (perhaps an Opposed Roll leaves a foul taste in your mind), as well as their physical forms. You feel their resistance to your sword and your will, a bright light surrounded by oily, misshapen, black smoke-burning lanterns.

The Genestealer leapt over the torrent of flame, avoiding it by less than a hair's breadth… but the escape had taken every part of its will and focus. For now, the enemy is brutally obvious, and in need of a good slaughtering.

Good enough.

WS 77 + 10 (Frenzy) + 8 (LBE) + 0 (Multi-Attack: OHBD) = 95

Standard Attack: 1d100 70

70: success with 2 DoS (1 bonus hit)

Chainfist Damage: 2d10+18E, Pen 10, Tearing, Unwieldy, Power Field

I can roll for damage if you like, but considering Arcturion has Flesh Render on top of Tearing, a minimum damage roll per hit of 20 @ Pen 10 is highly unlikely (would need to roll 1s on both Weapon D10s and both Tearing D10s, or, put differently, encounter a statistically insignificant event).

2 magnitude damage + 1 (Power Weapon) = 3 additional magnitude damage

7 magnitude damage total from both weapon attacks (Multi-Attack), plus up to 5 more from Force Weapon.

Sorry to double-post like this; I pasted in my spoilered attack actions and forgot to insert a placeholder text line. I can't seem to edit in a line of plain text now and the spoiler refuses to budge. The B&C staff are likely still working out the kinks. If anyone knows a work-around, please DM me.

Arcturion was a Lamenter, and an Epistolary at that. He would not be so easily cowed by the mental assault of some pitiful xenos psyker. His mind was a fortress, forged from adamantium in the fires of hate by the Emperor's light, tempered in an ocean of rage and blood. He was the keeper of the secret flame, of the Will of Sanguinius. Despite the psychic miasma pervading the area, his iron will bludgeoned the invading presence back from his consciousness. He responded in kind, both verbally and telepathically; his presence was a battering ram as compared to the twisted hybrid psyker.

+YOUR PITIFUL PSYCHIC TRICKS WILL AVAIL YOU NOTHING, XENOS! I WILL SLAUGHTER YOUR BRETHREN AND CAST YOUR CARCASSES DOWN INTO THE ABYSS!+

Despite the immense bulk of his terminator plate and his berserk state, Arcturion was still a superlative swordsman and hand-to-hand combatant, and he wove and tore his way through the xenos ranks with transcendent fluidity. Bright flashes of psychic fire accompanied the mighty cleaving blows of his burning longsword, and his chainfist reduced anything it contacted into meaty viscera.

+FOR SANGUINIUS! FOR THE EMPEROR! I AM DEATH!+

Arcturion forces his will upon the xenos psyker in turn, assaulting its (his?) disgusting mind with a telepathic message:

+++Brother-Chaplain, our time is limited. We must move on, or risk adding to our genetic losses rather than mitigating them.+++

+Acknowledged, I am with the last of the fallen and can then form part of the rearguard.+

The flare of the Rosarius field and the glare of plasma ammunition alerted him to the danger he was in crouched over the fallen, but the emperor protects.  Moving on to the last fallen brother he passed Korvann moving the other way and registered the others intent to aid the now trapped Arcturion, he would join them as soon as he could, but first another last rite.

The Magus is lashed by your mind as he would be cleaved by Cardovan's mighty war flail, making him recoil so hard he flies backwards and lies prone, but in the harrowed lands of the psychic plane, you feel the contaminated alien-human wretch funnel your power, and the roar flushes into a tidal whirlpool, draining away into an abyss.

Your sanctioning strains, even though the facets of your armour begin to weep, it..is different.

Previous expulsions of your righteous hatred were uncoloured by your frenzied state, but this time - something gives. A layer of ferrocrete cracking without warning, a protective barrier, perhaps the veil, rends. It is sudden, but yet such a quiet thing - for mortals. For you though...

Arcturion/Necro Only:

Spoiler

Talent: Mirror Darkly Activates.

A portal in reality opens. A long gallery door stretching into nowhere, nothingness, yet the edges are as clear to you as the sword in your hand, the purpose in your heart. It is a black glass pane, that ripples with power from beyond. Behind the glass is a shadow, but it drips with blood, runnels of it, buckets of gore and slime, provoking your thirst, the need for the wine of life to pass into your gullet - endlessly. You know the hunger of the Tyranids, but the thirst of the Great Angel is...something more.

The figure reaches out a hand, black wings unfolding, hulking round its shoulders.

~Arcturion~

~The Bleeding Heart~

~Come. Father awaits.~

The voice is familiar, but the figure runs in your mind's eye, like water washing colour from a portrait. Your hearts stop, and the physical plane disappears to leave a flat, blank space with impenetrable darkness, a darkness with odd stars, a burning sash of crimson-hell light, and the twin suns of a place...a place where brother killed each other.

You will now roll an Opposed WP against your OWN stats (so two rolls, one for 'you' and one for 'your other you').

If you fail, you are Stunned for 1 Turn per DoF on your roll. You may not use Strong Minded to Reroll. Your TDA does not compensate for the Stun, as this is psychic means.

The Magus bucks and spasms, black blood spurting from every orifice, as the bones and chitinous skull cracks, and the body is wrenched into a mangled mess, held together only in a twisted sack by its robes.

Nergüi:

The sincere duty completed, you retrieve the soul of another fallen from the decks of this blasphemous place, freeing their sprits to find the way to the Emperor, and home.
