Woo-hoo, does that mean it's XP time again?

300 would be enough to take us up to the next Rank bracket... just sayin'...

Ok gents, it's that time all of you love, with the close of the Session...

All Players receive the following:

XP:

  • 300 xp (was on the cards anyway - I know what levels you are  )

Awards (either):

  • Common Lore (Choose One) +10 - so basically one you already own, reflecting your deepening knowledge.
  • Forbidden Lore (Choose One) +10 (as above).

Trokair/Bardas gains:

  • Talent: Paranoia

All Fate Points are restored, bar those burned.

Statuses:

  • Machine God/Kerr Restal,
  • Lord_Ikka/Jericus Nicios, and
  • Lysimachus/Reynard

Will begin the next play session with 1 Level of fatigue, regardless of resting.

Feel free to post below your choices or outrage.

I could tell you, but then you would think I was out to get you.

Or am I?

I just realised Bardas went entire session without a near death experience, that can’t be a good omen. That said he did have some mental trauma with the late Magos, so close enough.

Oh by the way Maser, should there be any additional Insanity and or corruption for the Eye of Sauron incident? The 2 and 1 points respectively on the character sheet are from the data core extraction from the Magos body.

As we hit 2000 XP and level up I take it we get the free Sound Constitution, but I assume we can’t actually buy any rank 4 upgrades until we have XP above the threshold, not just xp to the threshold.

I’ll take the Common Lore (Tech) +10 Award as Bardas has no Forbidden Law and Tech seemed more important that Machine Cult for Common Lore.

Fate restored, do I also heal the last 2 damage point?

Laslty I’ll take a Toughness intermediate advance and save the remaining XP for now.

Yes, that would be appropriate - you should take 1D5 Insanity.

That's right. You must expend all XP to reach the rank, before you attain the rank. Once you've hit threshold, then you can buy from that rank.

As for the other stuff (wounds, lore etc) that's all fine.

D10: 8 = 4 Sheet updated, when do I start cackaling?

Gotcha, so as I am saving some XP i havent technicaly hit rank 4 and therfore the free extra wound is not there yet. no problem.

Ok, had to add +10 to Common Lore: Imperium as it was the only one Reynard had...

...unless you'd be willing to instead let us learn a new Common Lore subset that would be appropriate following the team/individual experiences?

E.g. I haven't got the book with me, but I was thinking Reynard would have wanted to watch what was happening in the Spire very carefully in case he could put it to use at a later time (that's assuming he actually survives this mission and gets to go back to conducting his own cons...? ) So something like Common Lore: Spyrers/Spire/Nobility?

Anyway, spends:

Heightened Senses: Sight 100xp

Pilot: Civilian Craft 100xp

Sound Constitution 100xp

...which will take him up to 2000xp, Rank 4 (Renegade) and get him another level of 'extra' Sound Constitution.

I see these as Reynard getting a little bit fitter and tougher, as well as more alert due to the near constant danger he's been through.

(The pilot skill is just that I want him to have a slim chance to get the hell out if everything goes more pear shaped than it already is! )

FTFY.

I like your moxie!

On the Common Lore thing - Nobles/Spyrers = Common (enough) Lore - if you want to Con them, Mr Slick, you should invest in Deceive or Fel (Charm). (Watch out for Jaded....)

I've got my eye on you lad, Machine Friend is always watching...

Ha, got Fel45, Charm and Deceive+10 so far! Probably next advances I'll go for a straight Fel boost*, but it's 250xp which I find to be an awkward number, plus I wanted to get the full 300 spent to push him up to the extra Rank +Wound?

*Or a straight Ag boost, also for 250xp...? Too many choices!

Sorry, just to be clear, is that a yes to Common Lore: Spire Nobility?

I regret it is a 'no', as I'd say Common Lore: Imperium would cover it. You could substitute the choices for Common Lore: Imperial World (Damocles) if you wanted, as it would be particular to that spire, which is a bit of niche subset mechanically, but characterful.

Oh ok, fair enough. I thought it would be too specific to come under the umbrella of Imperium (like how I presume AdMech or Ecclesiarchy aren't covered?) but if it's included anyway, there's no need to mess with it!

To be fair, I thought you'd used up a lot - but you guys packed that 24-28 hours! The mission clock did get advanced a few times, but it wasn't too far out. I'll stick to days I think, now, since it seems a little better for dramatic impact, and the clock is there anyway.

Trying to piece together 45 pages of events.

From what I understand - Dreyfuss was collecting people from the hive (were they all women?) - and was fearful of some unseen group at the end even fearing the sister was one of 'them'.

He had isolated a serum from one particular individual and broke into the warehouse to find the blueprints for a device to use it with to kill 'them', but before he could use the resultant device the subject linked to the serum match seemingly escaped and tore its way free setting off the original events, seven full days before the party was called in.

-presumably his earlier research had picked up on whatever Aldario had been up to after his deal with the unknown individual on the ship for Helenes freedom - assumine the letters are his.

Lucian Greyson is leading the kill team that has been chasing us around. Working for -(not sure)- Fabian Canthus who along with Lady Emilia turned up at the train station as was the target of the assassins early on. Perhaps a power play.

De Grassi was to wed Magda (the dead sister) and still seems involved given his recent appearance

Unidenfitied - the sapphire widow and the 'wild voice who cries for the children the Surgeon stole'

So far the links to the tau have been limited to the items at the warehouse and recent seizures by the arbites, perhaps of artifacts being sold to generate cash.

The 'golem' appears to be the one most actively after Locke, though so far we've seen little of it beyond servo skulls, the ancient medical servitor, and Bardas' stalker.

And have done an excellent job of it.

I do want to address/steer on a couple of points as a GM:

No, some were male. The log from the ship will match a lot of the specimens/data found on the slate from Dreyfuss' lab, but the records held by the good doctor are more extensive. Securing, and sampling the phial will provide more details.

This you can ignore. I'd dropped this in to give me some wiggle room to allow for Party actions and seed for different hooks if new players came in. You may conclude that it was the ramblings of a seer, etc.
