In today's Revenge of The Potato Cam:

I just finished these.

large.20221023_112721.jpg.44dcb2232b7aa1757d82ab75b17388f6.jpg

I'm just wondering if a second team should stand on them, and torn between Mk VI RT Marines, and some Intercessors I've been working on. (Half built, bare plastic).

Wow, what fantastic creations to be seen here! And some lovely immersive stories as well

I got sidetracked a bit this month, but finally pushed to complete the first member of my Kill Team - Aphrello (count-as Gunner).

A somewhat inconspicuous warrior compared to the perfectly beautiful majority of his brothers, Aphrello of the 5th was of a relatively slim build for an Astartes and possessing a pale drawn face. Nevertheless his was a special gift of speed of both thought and body - traits much valued by his squad-Sergeant, even if it meant extra attention at times. Perhaps that was also the reason the Rage ingrained so deeply in the Sanguinius' progeny took a somewhat fiery aspect within Aphrello. While bordering-on-genius intelligent, he was impetuous and lacked patience in his endeavors. With fine arts practiced by many among the Chapter straining his spirit too much, he found some measure of solace in tinkering with the tools of war and spent much of his time in the Chapter's Armory. The customized pyreblaster he favored on the battlefield until the fated Gavindor Operation was of his own design.

Firstly, that's a really neat and clever little conversion, which I love. Secondly, that paint job is formidable. Thirdly, your background is really good.

This competition is going to be tough!

Agreed, that freehand work especially is really impressive!

@Mazer Rackham Are those resin bases or have you added those bits yourself? (Either way, very nice indeed!)

Edited by Lysimachus

@Lysimachus cheers! They're scratch-built, cork, plasticraft, plastic mesh, sand, static grass.

Then lots of swearing, and stuff glued to my fingers.

LOVE THESE BASES

This BA is a thing of beauty. wow. knee pads and all.

I, Chaplain Raeven, vow to complete one Kill Team of the Nighlords (CSM), to be fully painted and based by the 31st January 2023, and to provide at least minimal fluff/background for them. May Robert curse me to darkness and ruination should I fail!

It's my plan to paint up the "Sinister Six" from the remains of some kits I had in my pile of shame.

If I manage to paint up my initial goal, I might paint up some more lads to fill out my roster a bit more.

Looking at the incredible painting in this thread, it's going to be hard competition

Excellent, vow added! Chaos have had a definite surge of entries, they are now neck and neck with the Loyal Astartes group with 9 vows and 1 completion each!

Also, @Jaxom and @Urauloth: just to clarify, were your posts just expressing interest or actual sign-ups? I haven't added them to the participant list yet, so let me know if you did want them added?

What's that you say? We'll just have to sort that out, won't we?

This is one my aforementioned Intercessors.  I read the rules, and a guy comes equipped with a UBGL, so I couldn't refuse. The one on the Intercessors kit is a poxy revolver. A real Astartes uses a PROPER bombchukka!

Yes, this is another pledge, God help me.

Very nice! (I must admit, the Intercessor GL is a bit piddly!)

What Chapter will these guys be from? (I'll just put the vow in as Intercessors for now!)

=] THERE IS NOTHING MORE TO SEE HERE. MOVE ALONG. [=

I'm also working on a non-competition (as they're built but have most of the colours blocked in) team of Revilers Chapter Reivers/Infiltrators I'm calling Squad Charon. Lots of suppressed carbines, with foregrips and thermal scopes.

Oathmaking (Part 2)

Then there was 10.

There are some gubbins (pouches, grenades etc) left on the sprue, so I am going to see if I can find good places to add any of them to the squad members.

Then I am going to have to decide if I call them done, or try and rectify the shoulder pad situation. Right now 6 have arms/part of arms with shoulder pads from the krieg guardsmen kit on both arms, three have it on only one arm and one model (the sergeant, as he was a hand swap not arm swap) has no armoured shoulder pads, just his native easterling armour on his arms.

Edited by Trokair

They're great kitbashes, really clever!

Personally,  I don't think it's a problem to combine the armour styles? If you assume that the Easterling stuff is their traditional gear, and the weapons have been provided by the local Munitorum to raise a Regiment, it seems logical they'd provide at least some Guard pattern armour? Maybe, being that it is Imperial bureaucracy, they haven't sent enough for everyone? Or maybe if they're out on campaign, they can't get their traditional armour, so have to replace bits with Guard-issue stuff? Lots of reasons to have it mix and match!

TL;DR: It looks good to me!

Apologies for this, but I must throw myself on the mercy of the forum.

Would it be alright if I changed my Vow to Celestial Lions instead? Just tried a Scythes test model, and my yellows have curdled into hamster barf. As a man of limited resources, I do have a job lot of Retributor armour...

Help?

So that’s why there are so many Ultramarine successors, it’s just the same few marines changing their colours for every appearance

Shhh! If Lord Guilliman knew there were only 400 Ultramarines walking around and around the Consul's Palace, we'd be in for it!

Just wait until he finds out those 400 aren’t even Ultramarines

Group shot, now all gubbinsedup.

Spoiler

Could someone who actually plays kill team let me know if this is a valid Veteran Guardsmen team. I have:

·         Sergeant with Power Sword and Bolt Pistol (the Chainsword and Laspistol bits where already used up)

·         Medic

·         Grenade Launcher ( I think, or maybe elephant gun)

·         Flamer

·         Sniper

·         Guy with radio/telephone back pack, binoculars and wired pistol (I am guessing at flare gun)

·         2 lasgun (and shield but I doubt that’s a thing)

·         Lasgun and throwing grenade

·         Lasgun reloading

Also, paint schemes, I could go the traditional Easterling colours of Red and Gold, but my own actual Easterlings are in a Blue and Silver scheme (I am partial to blue, and literally every single Easterling army I have ever seen has been red and gold).

Also, and I suspect this is outside the scope of Kill Team, but this still shrink-wrapped fellow has been sitting in the back of the cupboard for over a decade now ( I  think)  as the conversion project he was meant for never went anywhere. So the squad is getting a ride. Probably converted in some way, maybe open toped, or something else, will see.

Yep, think you're covered, your listed minis would make:

Sergeant Veteran
Medic Veteran
Gunner Veteran with Grenade Launcher
Gunner Veteran with Flamer
Sniper Veteran
Comms Veteran
1 Trooper Veteran (equipped with Grenades from the Equipment List)
3 Trooper Veterans (though these could also probably be used as one of the other Specialists; Zealot, Bruiser, Hardened or Spotter?)

As to colours, I might be inclined to not go with red, just so they don't look like 'Easterlings in Space'? Blue sounds good, or what about a nice jade-ish green?

Just finished my team of Navy Breachers- so the first half of my vow is complete!

(have a look at my WIP thread for more scenic shots)

Now, on to the next- there is still the Kroot to do- as well as tons of terrain.
