I too would like to throw my hat into the ring.

I, gaurdian31, vow to complete one Kill Team of the Chaos Legionnaires to be fully painted and based by the 31st January 2023, and to provide at least minimal fluff/background for them. May the Ruinous Powers curse me to darkness and ruination should I fail!

Also I would say nay to the sunroof.

Excellent, vow added! Have you got a particular Legion or warband in mind for them?

@Trokair I'd say it depends if you're still going to mount the multi-laser in the turret, maybe having the roof in place would be like a heat shield for the occupants?

@Mazer Rackham Are the Raptors a third vow, or an out of competition entry, I wasn't sure whether to add them to the list?

I am thinking either my own warband the Iron Blooded or Red Corsairs.

No sir, they're almost done, so they don't qualify. Just a non-comp entry.

Since the Chimera is driving the other way the hull mounted HB/HF isn’t there, and as such I tried to convert the turret to have two heavy bolters (i.e. the hull one and the one it can take instead of the multilaser). Found a pair of matched HB (from a marine tank I presume) in my bits box, so the turret is almost finished.

That said it is looking a bit odd, and to mount it properly I have trimmed out the normal connection point from the chimera top hull and would have to glue it over the hatch hole (otherwise the turret wont lock in, unless I glue it down in one direction).

The hatch with pintle heavy stubber currently fits in either the space on the hull, or in the turret, but it won’t fit once I add the turret mount. And I have to say the tank looked better without the turret when I mocked it up earlier. But then the tank will not be WYSIWYG with the rules at all, as opposed to just slightly not WYSIWYG it would be with the turret.

Once all the components have dried I will get some more pictures.

Ah! Glory to the Tyrant! Raise the Black Claw!

@gaurdian31 - the more the merrier I say !

Spoiler

@Trokair That is one nice little tank - IMO it looks better without the Chimera turret as it gives the whole set up a more unique silhouette while still looking pretty STC’equesqe

@Trokair Personally, I think I like the HB turret, but it doesn't look like enough space for ammo, etc and a guy to stand in the back?

I think the Stubber suffers from a usual GW thing (the new Rogal Dorn tank is the same IMHO) where it looks like they've tried to put too much stuff on one hull/turret?

What about just having the HB as an automated turret? You could stick little techy gubbins on top; camera, servo skull, etc? That way it wouldn't disrupt the lines of the tank as much?

Hot damn, Majkhel! Those are some of the sexiest Blood Angels I've ever seen! Fantastic job!

I've painted up my first marine of the bunch to test the waters, I think he came out alright.

Majkhel, looking great there, how much time do you spend one each one?

Thanks, brother! I never count the hours, but usually I finish a dude with this level of detailing in 4-5 evening sessions

About your Chimera - how would it look with the turret next to the hatch? I like Lysimachus' idea of a remote HB turret. AAV style.

@Chaplain RaevenThank you! That's high praise coming from you! Will try to keep this up then  I loved you Leviathan btw!

Edited by Majkhel

@Chaplain Raeven  That freehand is beautiful!

@sitnam Very nice! Your choice of bits, the heads and the chaos(?) chainswords gives them a very brutal feel, great for Space Sharks!

Edited by Lysimachus

@Lysimachus Thanks! Those chainswords came from the old CSM set. I believe the helms come from there and the current CSM set. My idea behind this squad is that they are veterans who crossed the Rubicon, but still use some of their Firstborn equipment

Calling my vow complete:

large.20221104_211923.jpg.91aef5339289bc

War Dogs Chapter, 10th 'Fire Swords' Patrol, 4th Squad (Intercessor).

4th Squad is ably commanded by Veteran Sergeant Jarek. Recruited during the earliest stages of the Indomitus Crusade, this centuried warrior is both a stern and determined leader as well as being a terrifyingly effective combatant. A talented naval strategist, he also has overall command of 4th Squad's transport vessel, the Hunter Destroyer 'Voidspite'.

Jarek's second is the Intercessor sniper Brother Cha'tan. A veteran in his own right, Cha'tan is a cooling presence among Jarek's unit, tempering their aggression with pragmatism and precisely targeted firepower. Under the tutelage of the Voidspite's Armorium Tech-Adepts, the sniper has learned to construct his own penetrator bolt shells, ensuring he is always ready to strike down the enemies of Humanity from afar.

Hagga and Bryn are brothers of the flesh as well as of the Chapter. They were recruited together from the feral tribes of the fourth planet in the Diaskar system. Both brothers are fierce, brutal fighters, preferring to fight up close where they can use their strength and sheer mass to punish their opponents, though Hagga always has a few grenades at the ready!

Brother Friedrich is the anvil of 4th Squad. Armed with his faithful auto bolt rifle, fitted with a powerful underslung grenade launcher, he watches over his squadmates, giving Sgt Jarek an unmovable lynchpin from which to order his unit forward. Friedrich is knightly, honourable and devout.

The final member of the squad is Brother Incario. Claimed and inducted by the Chapter three years ago from the Hive gangs of Vorla Secundus, Incario joined 4th Squad when the 10th Patrol returned to the Canis Domum for resupply no more than six months ago. Nevertheless, even in this short time the young Astartes has proved himself a natural soldier and is eager to learn from his more experienced brethren.

@Lysimachus Very cool background.  The mixture of bits in the team also goes well to making them feel like an elite team and not just a line infantry squad

In an effort the clear my own grey horde, I shall make a second vow:

I, sitnam, vow to complete one Kill Team of the Diomedan Drones warband to be fully painted and based by the 31st January 2023, and to provide at least minimal fluff/background for them. May Nurgle curse me to cleanliness and purity should I fail.

I know I only have 5 guys, however originally when I built this team the CSM could only take up to five astartes, and I split the Nachmund box with my son to make rival Nurglite and Tzeentchian Kill Teams. Take the tank as a bonus lol

Edited by sitnam

@Chaplain Raeven He defiantly came out alright, and love the lighting effect on the legs.

@sitnam, I have to echo Lys on the head choices.

@Lysimachus, great little quad.

Having had it sat on my desk with just the hatch with the heavy stubber gun for a few days now I am warming to leaving it like that and leaving the WYSIWYG issue for pregame explanations that yes this is a Chimera with two HBs. It’s not like I ever expect o play in tournaments, and I don’t even know if I will take this project further and try and do a small guard army, or if I leave it as is and maybe learn Kill team, at which point the Chimera is just window-dressing.

Yea with both gunner and turret it does look a bit bussy, might be able to rig some spare rhino hatch covers to put a ‘lid’ on the turret.

As in have the Heavy stubber gun pop out of the smaller square top hatch?  I can see that potentially working, though as the square hatch is already glued in place I don’t want to cut up the work on this one, but if I do another one I’ll keep that in mind and see if I can make it work.

Congratultions @sitnam and @Lysimachus! Those are awesome squads! Very characterful!

The challengeis driving me onwards and I'm happy to present 3rd member of my squad: Brother Massio

Neither the best fighter nor the most charismatic person, Brother Massio could be described foremost as a comrade to all. Easy going, talkative, honest to the bone and above all else - devoted to his brothers. Massio never hesitated for second if his actions could save those close to his heart no matter the cost - a trait of the truest of Sanguinius' sons that inspired all around him. If grizzled Ethel was the head of the 2nd Squad, Massio was the heart.

@Majkhel Gorgeous paint job once again! And I absolutely adore @Lysimachus squad biography!

You all are really churning out the goods, making me feel like a shirker... Base coating is done, by I've had trouble finding the motivation to put brush to model. Thank the Emperor we've got so much time left. Keep up the great work everyone; inspiring stuff!

Very nice works all. I'm enjoying the fluff and paintjobs.

I will finally be able to put some paint on the Choral Undue tonight, which makes me very pleased.

I, Tonius, vow to complete my Kill Team of the Chaos Legionnaires and my Phobos strike team, to be fully painted and based by the end of 2022.

I’ll also add reinforcements to my intercession kill Team !

Man, these entries are something else altogether.

The conversions are inspired. The painting a real spur. This thread is a winner - and it's full of winning stuff. The attitude and goodwill in here have rekindled what little flame I had for the hobby.

I have only one demand:

Thanks !

Stormy weather the whole weekend gave me plenty of time to speed paint the whole bunch :)

Next step will be the Ork Kommandos, the Void scarred and the veteran guardsmen.

And, in today's Death by Potato Cam:
